Today, marks 25 years since our troops surged back into , securing the country’s territory. At the beginning of 1995, 19.6% of the mainland of Croatian territory was still under occupation by the Milosevic's paramilitary Serbian rebels. Under military and law enforcement action “Oluja” Croatia liberated and returned under its constitutional and legal jurisdiction Knin and other occupied Croatian territories. It is a day when we celebrate victory, homeland thanksgiving and Croatian veterans.

Croatia takes over the presidency of the European Union, namely the Council of the European Union, in the first half of 2020.

A Europe that develops, connects and protects and is influential on the global scene are the four pivotal areas of Croatia's presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2020.

We want the Union to keep its position of a leading international factor, notably as regards leadership in the fight against climate change, promotion of efficient global governance, human rights protection and the strengthening of the multilateral trade framework.

Europe must have a leader role in its neighbourhood and the rest of the world.
