Tun M's own speech about borrowing in Yen.

Yen credits at low interest rates were extended to
developing countries like Malaysia. These were very welcome
indeed. But then the yen appreciated in value against the
Malaysian ringgit by 100 percent.
28. What this means is that in terms of Malaysian currency
we have to repay a 100 million Malaysian ringgit worth of
yen loan with 200 million Malaysian ringgit plus the
interest on this 200 million Malaysian ringgit. It was not
a cheap loan at all. It was very expensive.
29. We tried to renegotiate the loan in order to reduce
slightly our debt burden to Japan. We were not given even
one yen reduction.

The endaka was not caused by us. But we the developing
countries have to pay. Not only were our debts doubled but
the manufactured goods from Japan increased in price. We
have to pay more for all our Japanese imports.

Either he is lying then, or he is lying now.

Najib vs Anwar i choose Anwar
Mahathir vs Anwar I choose Anwar
Manathir vs Najib i choose Najib

I have my respect towards anwar, but recently Anwar has been traveling around to handle country's business:

'In a press statement on Monday (June 11), Anwar Ibrahim's office said [British Foreign Secretary] Boris Johnson has provided his assurance that the UK government will support investigations pertaining to the 1MDB corruption scandal including the repatriation of assets seized in Britain ... It said Anwar is on a four-day visit to London for a series of meeting with British ministers to discuss bilateral relationships in the area of business, education, science and medical research collaborations.' - The Star

P.S. I missed the part when Dr Mahathir Mohamad appointed Anwar Ibrahim as the Foreign Minister. When did that happen?

Mahathir or Anwar's fault? or nothing seems wrong with it?

Sarawak BN dissolution, now GPS.

Not so sure how it is going to be in the future, to PH or to BN.

But it seems like some changes from BN is happening i wish them and Sarawakians for the best.

in the midst of Proton 2.0 debate.

i found a guy with interesting fact to support new proton arguement.

"We are the world's 3rd largest private car ownership (93% of Malaysians) and 53% second car ownership. We should have some say in the direction automobile development is taking because the car is so familiar to us. No better way to do this than to have our own car."

BUT, if only we have the technical know-how to build the engine which is the nub of development and marketing.

interesting opposing point from NGO:
“As the saying goes, ‘a developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It is where the rich use public transportation’.”

but, what i have seen, most countries with high utility of public transport, owning a car tend to be extremely expensive.

Tun M said that he has asked to borrow money from Japan and that this borrowing will be in Yen.

So, our PH Govt's solution to reduce our national debt is to *borrow more money to create more debt*!

How does borrowing more debt to reduce debt works? Only god and Tun M knows.

In the past, Tun M had borrowed heavily from Japan in Yen but had ended up in disaster. Although the interest rates on Japan loan are generally low, the appreciation of the Yen currency meant that Malaysia ended up paying double or triple of the amount loaned.

It got so bad in the past that Tun M had once sworn off borrowing in Yen when he said this in the 1990s.

The yen's ascent to record levels is straining the finances of East Asian governments that have borrowed heavily from Japan and now must pay Tokyo back in a now more expensive currency.

"We tried to renegotiate the loan in order to reduce slightly our debt burden to Japan," Prime Minister Mahathir bin Mohammad of Malaysia said in a recent speech in Japan. But, he added, "We were not given even one yen reduction."

It was one of the factors that caused our national debt to soar to record levels of 103.4% in the past under Tun M compared to 50.8% now.

One of the lessons learned by the previous BN Govt under Najib was to ensure that 97% of borrowings are denominated in Ringgit.

As Malaysia controls the Ringgit, this ensures that our borrowings has no foreign currency risk and that no foreign country can declare Malaysia bankrupt.

By borrowing in Yen, Tun M is putting Malaysia back to the mercy of Forex risk which could severely weaken our country in future if the Yen continues to appreciate as it did in the past.

Dr Mahathir: I'll start another Proton if Pakatan wins GE14 - Nation | The Star Online 12/06/2018

PROTON 2.0

Mahathir in Aug 2017 has previously said he will start another Proton if Pakatan Harapan takes over as government.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2017/08/25/mahathir-mohamad-start-another-car-project/

Later he won and sworn in as 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia, he expressed his desired for new national car dream again, in his first Japan visit after becoming 7th Prime Minister.

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/malaysian-pm-mahathir-says-growing-countries-need-different-trade-protections

He is pretty consistent about this once, he hated Proton has sold its 49.9% shares to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and this is main reason for him to start a new Proton.

The only difference is occasion where he spoke about his desire of new Proton is in forum of China’s Investment in Malaysia.

Majority of Malaysian are not happy with this news although it is not a must go plan yet, we believe we have learned enough from the Proton and its losses. Mahathir has no excuse to put the blame on others already as he is the founder of Proton, given the higher price for Malaysian, as well as he served as advisor to Proton after stepping down from 4th Prime Minister Post.

There are many speculations to whether Mahathir would realise the plan of new national car, to me it could be market survey, getting respond from investor, people of Malaysia; or he is flexing his muscle to China and Geely cars? But is pretty obvious Mahathir do have this ambitious, he spoke twice, and he is patronise.

I even am surprised, despite many have voiced to against his Proton 2.0 idea, to date none of the Pakatan leaders have voice up to reassure public opinion will be taken seriously, at the FIRST forum where Mahathir talked Proton 2.0 project, at least Nurul Izzah has dropped a hint this project will be examined thoroughly. Or Mahathir is too smart and always getting ahead to release some stunning statement in important forum so is harder to express objection due to it might offending some other personae?

We are not sure if Mahathir is determined, also his announcement is a mere statement without promise, but this new Malaysia era, is important that we people, political leaders to voice up, not to sabotage but to express our opinion and it has to be heard, otherwise it may be too late as the plan is already planned.

Dr Mahathir: I'll start another Proton if Pakatan wins GE14 - Nation | The Star Online KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan might have plans to set up another national car company if it succeeds in capturing Putrajaya in the upcoming general election.

Tun Mahathir just said that Malaysia will not slide into bankruptcy as there are “huge savings” from several government institutions, notably the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), which can be used to help the economy recover in the event of crisis.

“I don’t think under this government, the country will slide into bankruptcy,” he said in a news conference broadcast live from Tokyo, Japan where he is attending the Future of Asia conference hosted by Nikkei. Dr Mahathir was replying a question on whether Malaysia might slip into a financial crisis over the RM1 trillion debt and liabilities.

It is true that the official govt debt is RM681 billion now , which is RM380 billion more than the RM300 billion debt in 2008 before the Najib govt came into power.

But what Tun M forgot to tell you is that the wealth or assets of Khazanah, BNM and Petronas alone has increased by RM400 billion between 2008 to end 2017 - more than the govt debt increase.

Between 2008 to 2017:
- BNM's net reserves (not counting FOREX) increased from RM31.7b to RM136.8b.
- Petronas net assets doubled from RM223.4b to RM432.4b. More significantly, Petronas now has CASH of RM164.7b which is many times more compared to before.
- Khazanah Net Worth increased from RM31.7b to RM136.8b.

BNM, Khazanah and Petronas are all 100% owned by the govt so the govt can take their money ANYTIME to pay off national debt if they want. This is just 3 asset - not even counting the other assets and funds owned by the govt.

To make things even more interesting, the wealth of the people increased even more.

Between 2008 to 2017, PNB's funds more than doubled from RM120b to RM280b while EPF's funds grew from RM340b to RM815b.

Meaning the wealth of the people in these two funds alone grew almost RM700b - from RM400b to RM1,095b

Essentially, Tun M just admitted today that Malaysia was never in any danger of going bankrupt and it was just lies before GE14, which will also serve as a good excuse not to implement their unrealistic Manifesto promises after GE14.

However, let's just hope that this new Tun M govt will not raid EPF for bail-outs again just like how he did so with the MAMINCO tin scandal and the BNM Forex scandal.

Malaysia to remain friendly with China: Dr M

since after Dr.M sworn in Malaysia's seventh prime minister, his "friendly" actions towards China are as below:

1) ECRL may be deffered or terminated
2) Cancellation of HSR (China's Bidding to Zero now)
3) Forest City- They can develop (the project), but we will not allow foreigners to come and settle in our country. Mahathir said: Trumph arleady build the wall to stop Mexican coming in so why can't we do the same?
4) LGE investigation tour to China (a huge insults to China premier Xi, who all-out for anti-corruption campaign)
5) Dr.M first oversea visit, his old allies, Japan
6) Dr.M thought of making Proton 2.0, in order to compete with Geely pressence in Malaysia?

P.S. UPON CANCELLATION OF HSR, MAHATHIR PLANS MALAYSIAN ISLAND ON MIDDLE ROCKS NEAR SINGAPORE.
