A Journey of Service and Connection

Greetings my dear Inner Wheel friends,

As I write my 12th and final message as District Chairman, I do so with a heart full of reflection and gratitude for a year that has been both deeply meaningful and profoundly rewarding.

“Step Up and Lead by Example” is not just a theme—it is something I have seen come alive across our District: in quiet acts of service, in leadership carried out with integrity, and in the many moments of connection we have shared.

To every club I have had the privilege of visiting, thank you. Thank you for opening not just your meetings to me, but your hearts. While the meetings may fade with time, it is the conversations, the laughter, the shared stories, and the genuine connections that will remain with me. These are the moments that define Inner Wheel—where we truly see one another, where friendships are strengthened, and where our purpose feels most real.

As I look back on this journey, I do so with immense pride and humility. What we have built together goes far beyond individual efforts. It is a living, breathing legacy—woven through service, friendship, and a shared commitment to something greater than us.

As this Inner Wheel year gently draws to a close, I would like to leave one final reflection on leadership—for those who serve today, and for those who will step forward tomorrow.

Leadership is not a title to be pursued, nor a right to be expected. It is a responsibility entrusted to those willing to serve, to contribute, and to understand the demands of the role beyond the position itself. It is grounded in service, shaped by responsibility, and sustained by humility. It calls for a willingness to place the needs of the organisation above self, so that it may continue to grow with strength, unity, and purpose.

As I hand over the reins, I do so with confidence in the future of our District. What we have built together does not end with a term—it lives on through each of you who carry it forward.

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to:
• Our Club Presidents and Executive Committees, for your dedication and leadership
• Our members, for your generosity of time, effort, and service
• The District Executive Committee, for your unwavering support, teamwork, and encouragement

As a new team of leaders prepares to take on their roles, I encourage all members to continue supporting one another, to uphold the values that define us, and to move forward together with purpose and unity.

Though my term concludes on 30th June, my belief in this District—its strength, its unity, and its future—remains unwavering.

Let us continue forward with confidence and pride, knowing that what we have built together will continue to grow and inspire.

Because in Inner Wheel, leadership may be for a term—but service is for a lifetime.

And the legacy we set in motion today will live on:
in every act of service,
in every leader we nurture,
and in every life we touch.

With gratitude in my heart and pride in all that we have achieved together—thank you for allowing me the honour of serving as your District Chairman, District 330, for the term 2025–2026.

With my deepest appreciation and warmest Inner Wheel regards,

Jillian Estrop

BUY A BOOK TO TEACH A CHILD
- by IWC of Petaling Jaya

A Community Project by Inner Wheel Club of Petaling Jaya

“Buy A Book To Teach A Child” is a simple yet impactful community initiative that began in 2006 during the presidency of PDC Padmini Menon. Inspired by a thoughtful idea from member Renugandhi (Renu), now a Past President, the project was rooted in the concept of giving new life to pre-loved storybooks while contributing to a meaningful cause.
With generosity and vision, Renu offered her restaurant, 'Nagas' as the starting point for this initiative.
A dedicated bookshelf was set up, accompanied by a notice inviting the public to participate. Visitors were encouraged to take a book and contribute RM5 into a trust-based money box—an act of kindness guided by the message: “Be the difference today.”

A clear framework was established with three key objectives:
To inculcate a love for reading
To encourage recycling and reuse of books
To channel all funds raised towards the education of deserving students

The project thrived on the collective effort of club members. They took turns maintaining and organizing the bookshelf, ensuring it remained inviting and accessible. As books were taken, members replenished the collection through donations from friends, family, and the wider community, spreading awareness and encouraging participation.
Due to its success, the initiative expanded beyond its original location to other sites such as Shanars , Miruthula and
A. Muthy, further widening its reach and impact.

Over the past two decades, funds generated from this project have supported the education of numerous deserving children. Through this initiative, the Inner Wheel Club of Petaling Jaya has helped lay the foundation for many young individuals to pursue their dreams and build successful professional lives.
This project stands as a testament to how small acts—donating a book, contributing a small amount—can collectively create lasting change.
TOGETHER WE CAN
