The gathering provided an opportunity for interaction, inspiration, and engagement through various fun activities. We were also pleased to have insightful contributions from other speakers, including Mr. Mohd Kamaruzzaman Mohd Ismail from UniKL and Professor Kabuye Uthman from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Thank you to all who attended for fostering a strong community while celebrating our shared heritage.

H.E. Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe, High commissioner of Uganda to Malaysia, convened a meeting today with Mr. Evans Phidelis Aryabaha, Head of Consular at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Uganda, and his team from MOFA. The discussion included several Diaspora leaders in Malaysia and centered on addressing the challenges faced by the Diaspora community. This gathering focused on enhancing diplomatic ties and fostering constructive dialogue between Uganda and its citizens in Malaysia.

Third Secretary Ms. Everlyn Kasangaki invited Thai businesses to explore Uganda’s investment opportunities, while a coffee cupping session drew strong interest. Truly, Uganda reaffirmed its place as the Pearl of Africa in Thailand and the ASEAN region! 🌍☕💃

🇺🇬🤝🇲🇾 Uganda High Commission Welcomes Malaysia Inc. Delegation for Eco-Satellite City Talks

On 25th July 2025, H.E. Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe, Uganda’s Ambassador to Malaysia, hosted a strategic meeting with Malaysia Inc. at the Uganda High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. The meeting focused on reviving the Eco-Satellite City Project planned for Nakigalala, Uganda.
Malaysia Inc., led by YBhg. Sri Esa Mohammed and Dato’ Mohamad Khairi, was pleased to hear that the land ownership issues delaying the project had now been resolved. This milestone paves the way for the next phase of this ambitious smart city development.
The project aims to create a modern, green, and inclusive city between Entebbe and Kampala, improving urban living and easing congestion in the capital. It also includes exciting prospects such as premium housing, eco-tourism, and electric public transport!
A follow-up virtual meeting is set for early August, and Malaysia Inc. is expected to visit Uganda in September to move the project forward.

10th July 2025, Park Hyatt Jakarta – Indonesia

The Uganda High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, accredited to the Republic of Indonesia, has today successfully hosted the Pearl of Africa - Indonesia Business Forum at the prestigious Park Hyatt Jakarta.

The Forum brought together high-level government officials, business leaders, investors, and diplomatic representatives from both Uganda and Indonesia to strengthen trade and investment ties under the theme: "Unlocking Shared Opportunities: Strengthening Uganda-Indonesia Partnership in Tourism, ICT, and Oil and Gas."

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador-Designate to Indonesia, H.E. Dr. Betty Oyella Bigombe, emphasized Uganda’s strategic location, rich natural resources, and investor-friendly climate. She encouraged Indonesian businesses to explore opportunities in Uganda’s fast-growing sectors and assured them of the Government’s full support in facilitating partnerships.

The Guest of Honour, Hon. Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, Uganda’s State Minister for Trade, delivered keynote remarks highlighting Uganda’s trade potential, government initiatives to support foreign investment, and the importance of South-South cooperation in boosting economic development.

The Opening Remarks were delivered by Mrs. Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, Vice Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, who underscored Indonesia’s commitment to deepening bilateral trade relations and fostering mutual growth between the two nations.

The Forum featured presentations, business-to-business networking sessions, and sector-specific discussions, focusing on tourism promotion, digital economy, and mineral resources development. It served as a vital platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore avenues for joint ventures and investment.

The Uganda High Commission extends its gratitude to all participants and looks forward to sustained engagement and implementation of outcomes from the forum.

Minister Mbadi Leads Uganda Delegation to Indonesia Trade Expo The Minister of Trade for Trade, Gen. Wilson Mbadi has arrived in Jakarta-Indonesia, where he is leading the Government of Uganda business delegation. Mbadi was received by Aditya Aji Nugraha-the Director of Protocal-Indonesia.
