Successful autopleurodesis following IPC insertion after just 3 weeks in a patient with recurrent malignant pleural effusion (MPE).

IPC removal may appear straightforward, but a key step is to carefully release the subcutaneous cuff first before removing the catheter.

Future horizons in severe asthma 🫁

Interesting CME by our team on depemokimab, an ultra-long-acting anti-IL-5 biologic for severe eosinophilic asthma — just one injection every 6 months (26 weeks).

The Phase III SWIFT-1 & SWIFT-2 trials showed significant reductions in annualised asthma exacerbations (58% and 48% respectively) versus placebo, with a similar overall adverse-event profile

Twice-yearly biologic therapy — less treatment burden, sustained efficacy and potentially better adherence. Exciting times ahead for severe asthma management!

Registration for the 8th Respiratory & Pleural Intervention Masterclass 2027 is now open!

Join us for 1½ days of respiratory insights, evidence-based updates, case discussions and hands-on learning, covering contemporary approaches to pleural disease and respiratory intervention.

The hands-on sessions will be conducted using simulation models and devices — not on real patients, except for the ultrasound stations.

🏅 MMA CPD points will be awarded.

Places are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, so secure your place early!

Our second indwelling pleural catheter (IPC) insertion using the Passio catheter with a digital drainage system. The addition of digital drainage makes monitoring easier by providing objective, real-time assessment of pleural fluid drainage. We will share more during the 8th Pleura Workshop on 9–10 January 2027

🎉 Congratulations to Yu Sen, our medical student, for achieving Top 3 in the Poster Presentation at the 66th MMA Annual General Meeting & National Medical Convention 2026!

The poster, “The Glowing Chest and A Fading Heart: An Unusual Presentation of Systemic Sarcoidosis with Pulmonary and Cardiac Involvement,” showcased an interesting and challenging case of systemic sarcoidosis with both pulmonary and cardiac involvement.

A fantastic achievement and well deserved. Well done, Yu Sen! 👏🎉
