THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE FIFTH SESSION OF THE FIFTEENTH PARLIAMENT OF MALAYSIA, MONDAY 19TH JANUARY, 2026, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA.

The Ghana High Commission in Kuala Lumpur was honored to participate in the Opening Ceremony of the Fifth Session of the Fifteenth Parliament of Malaysia. His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the core principles of Integrity, Responsibility, and Mutual Coexistence as essential to strong leadership.

Our Deputy High Commissioner, Prof. Naail Mohammed Kamil, had the privilege of attending alongside distinguished diplomats and officials from various countries.

GHANA AMBASSADOR MEETS TESDA DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL ON SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND LABOUR MOBILITY

Her Excellency Florence B. Akonor, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Malaysia (concurrently accredited to the Philippines), recently met with Atty. Felizardo R. Colambo, Deputy Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), along with senior officials.

The meeting focused on exchanging views on skills development, industry-driven training programs, and certification systems. This engagement is part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen workforce readiness and promote structured labour mobility cooperation between Ghana and the Philippines.

Such collaborations aim to enhance bilateral ties, empower the youth, and support sustainable economic growth for both nations.

GHANA AMBASSADOR HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH DEPARTMENT OF MIGRANT WORKERS UNDERSECRETARY ON GOVERNANCE AND PROTECTION OF MIGRANT WORKERS

Her Excellency Florence B. Akonor, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Malaysia, held discussions with Atty. Bernard P. Olalia, Undersecretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, along with senior officials.

The discussions centered on institutional frameworks, best practices, and cooperation in the governance, protection, and deployment of migrant workers. This engagement is part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen structured labour mobility and youth employment strategies.

Such collaborations aim to enhance bilateral ties, promote safe migration, and support sustainable development for both nations.

Discussions focused on opportunities for cross-border partnerships, innovation, and knowledge exchange to advance global academic excellence.

This event highlights Malaysia's stature as a leading education hub and underscores the importance of international cooperation in fostering educational growth. Delighted to share highlights from a productive visit under the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) program to SD Guthrie Berhad, one of the world's leading sustainable palm oil producers.

The Ghanaian delegation was graciously led by H.E. Florence B. Akonor, High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to Malaysia, accompanied by Ms. Alexandra Asiamah Amofah, Head of Chancery at the Ghana High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, and the CEO of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Hon. Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, along with his dedicated team.

This engagement provided invaluable insights into best practices in sustainable palm oil cultivation, processing, and innovation, key areas for Ghana as we advance our oil palm sector under TCDA's mandate and progress toward fuller collaboration with CPOPC.

Strengthening Ties Between Ghana and Malaysia

It was a pleasure to welcome a delegation from GCB Bank PLC led by senior management on an industry visit to Malaysia. The team paid a courtesy call on the High Commission on 26th November, 2025.

H.E. Florence B. Akonor, High Commissioner of Ghana to Malaysia, together with Deputy Head of Mission Engr. Prof. Naail Mohammed Kamil and Minister Consular Mr. Kwame Boamah, received the delegation and briefed them on the Mission’s trade, investment, and diaspora engagement activities.
