Schools across Southeast Asia are invited to share their programmes that:
โ€ข promote meaningful learning and holistic student well-being (emotional and social) through thoughtful use of AI and digital technologies
โ€ข address sustainability challenges in their communities

To participate, schools are required to:
โ€ข submit the submission document using the official template (available on the website only) with a 3-minute video presenting the programme
โ€ข complete the online submission form

From 20 to 24 April 2026, SEAMEO SEN hosted a five-day regional training programme titled โ€œFrom School to Success: Roadmap to Career Transitions for Learners with Special Educational Needsโ€ specially for teachers of learners with special educational needs.

The programme brought together participants representing Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia and Thailand. Throughout the five days, participants engaged in meaningful discussions, hands on activities and collaborative learning experiences focused on supporting learners with special educational needs transitioning from school to future employment as skilled workforce or entrepreneurships pathways.

Key sessions highlighted practical approaches to transition planning, the importance of personalised support systems and the value of collaborative partnerships among educators, families and multidisciplinary professionals.

SEAMEO SEN extends its heartfelt appreciation to the distinguished speaker, Mr. Kumaresan Muniandy, for his sharing and dedication throughout the five days. As an experienced educator who is passionate in preparing his special educational needs students for the workforce, his knowledge was truly valuable and relevant.

Gratitude is also extended to all participants whose enthusiasm and commitment contributed to the success of the programme and to the shared mission of strengthening inclusive education across the region. We look forward to hearing the good practices from all of you.

SEAMEO SEN and Himpunan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan Anak Usia Dini Indonesia (HIMPAUDI), a professional organization in Indonesia dedicated to uniting and enhancing the quality of educators and personnel in early childhood education, successfully conducted a training programme titled โ€œInclusive Classroom for Learners with Autism and Speech Delay: Practical Teaching Strategiesโ€ on 11 and 12 April 2026 in Kota Bukittinggi, Kota Padang, Indonesia.

The training aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and effective strategies to support learners with autism and speech delay in inclusive classroom settings. It also served as a platform for knowledge sharing, professional Development, and strengthening collaboration among educators in Kota Bukittinggi.

A total of 173 participants were involved throughout the training. Their active participation and engagement contributed significantly to the overall success of the programme.

We extend our appreciation to the distinguished speakers, Dr. Mohd Syazwan Zainal and Mr. Ahmad Heikhal Amir Hamzah, for their invaluable insights and dedicated facilitation throughout the sessions.

SEAMEO SEN was honoured to host the official visit of the SEAMEO Council President, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education, Brunei Darussalam, on 20 April 2026.

The visit commenced with a warm welcome and followed by a briefing session where SEAMEO SEN shared its mandate, key programmes, and ongoing initiatives in advancing inclusive education for learners with disabilities across the Southeast Asian region.

The distinguished delegation was then brought on a guided tour of SEAMEO SENโ€™s facilities, showcasing our resource areas, training environments, and innovative approaches in special education.

A key highlight of the visit was the Opening Session of the SEAMEO SEN Regular Course titled โ€œFrom School to Success: Roadmap to Career Transitions for Learners with Disabilitiesโ€, where insightful remarks were delivered, emphasizing the importance of structured transition pathways for learners with special needs.

The visit continued at SMK Malim, Melaka, where the delegation received a comprehensive school briefing and observed the implementation of inclusive practices through the Pendidikan Khas Integrasi (PPKI) programme. The session provided valuable insights into classroom environments and real-life learning experiences of students with special educational needs.

This meaningful visit reflects the strong regional collaboration and shared commitment among SEAMEO Member Countries in promoting inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all.
