The Projek30% team recently met with former Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability YB Nik Nazmi and his team from Parti Bersama for a discussion on Akta Projek30% and on women’s political participation and representation.

We were encouraged by the discussions on how women can be meaningfully represented and supported as Bersama develops; and we hope that these conversations can continue as the party builds up its leadership and structures.

Last week, the Projek30% team met with YB Datuk Dr. Hajah Fuziah Salleh, who has long advocated for greater representation of women in politics. Despite her busy schedule, YB Fuziah took the time to have an in-depth discussion with us and shared her valuable insights and suggestions on possible ways forward for Akta Projek30%.

We are truly grateful for her strong support for Projek30% and for women’s political participation and representation, and for the important input she shared with us as we work towards pushing for more women in politics.

Representing Projek30%, EMPOWER and were pleased to attend PRAXIS 2026, where we had the opportunity to engage with fellow participants and share our perspectives on increasing women’s political participation and representation in Malaysia. We also had the opportunity to speak with YB Datuk Seri about Akta Projek30%. Thank you to Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia for having us and for the opportunity to be part of the conversations.

Last Thursday, we were thrilled to welcome our new Canada Fund for Local Initiatives partners at a hybrid networking session. High Commissioner Jodi Robinson opened the event with an inspiring remarks and partners also had the opportunity to meet our new Counsellor for Political, Economic and Public Affairs, Leigh McCumber.
