From understanding Muslim-friendly hospitality to turning it into meaningful experiences.

On 15 September 2026, the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) joined the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) 2026 under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) at Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam.

During the one-hour session, En. Mohammad Faisal Abu Suaib Khan, Director General of ITC, introduced participants to the concept and framework of Muslim Friendly Hospitality Services (MFHS) under the theme “Embracing the New Way of Tourism and Delivery by Adopting Muslim Friendly Hospitality Services Requirements.”

But MFHS is more than halal food or prayer facilities. It is about how tourism services are designed and delivered—from accessible information and thoughtful facilities to trained people who understand and respond to Muslim travellers’ needs.

Through Malaysia’s experience, including MS 2610, Muslim-Friendly Tourist Guides (MFTG) and the Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality Assurance and Recognition (MFAR), participants explored how a framework can move from paper into real traveller experiences.

The goal? To build a more confident, comfortable and inclusive tourism journey for Muslim travellers—and share Malaysia’s experience with the world.

Thank you to SIRIM Berhad for organising this meaningful training programme and for bringing together participants from different countries to learn, connect and exchange experiences.

Sometimes, understanding begins with simply walking through the door.

On 12 September 2026, Masjid Al-Falah, USJ 9 welcomed visitors for Mosque Open Day, held as part of Islamic Tourism Month (ITM) 2026.

For some, it was their first time stepping inside a mosque. For others, it was an opportunity to share what the mosque means to the community and to answer questions about Islam, worship and everyday Muslim life.

Throughout the morning, conversations flowed, questions were welcomed and new connections were made. Beyond learning about the mosque itself, the experience offered visitors and members of the community a chance to meet, exchange perspectives and discover what they have in common.

Because sometimes, meaningful connections do not begin with a big conversation. They begin with a simple “hello”, a genuine question and the willingness to listen.

Thank you to everyone who opened their doors, shared their stories and joined us for a meaningful morning at Masjid Al-Falah.

Rabiulawal brought the community together in a celebration filled with selawat, ilmu and kebersamaan. 🌙

From 10 to 12 September 2026, Karnival Maulidur Rasul 1448H at Masjid Seberang Takir came alive as part of Islamic Tourism Month (ITM) 2026, bringing together the community through a three-day celebration at the mosque.

The celebration featured bacaan Maulid, kuliah, malam kesenian Islam, family activities, e-sports, competitions, as well as local food and retail stalls. The much-anticipated lucky draw added even more excitement to the festive atmosphere.

As part of Mosque Open Day, the programme also opened the doors of the mosque to the wider community, offering an opportunity for visitors to experience the mosque not only as a place of worship, but also as a space for learning, connection and community activities.

More than just a celebration, the carnival was a chance for people of all ages to come together, spend time with one another and reflect on the life and teachings of Rasulullah SAW.

Because Rabiulawal is not only a time to remember, but also an opportunity to carry the values of love, compassion and togetherness into our daily lives.

Thank you to everyone who came, participated and made Karnival Maulidur Rasul 1448H a memorable celebration for the community.

Seoul has kimchi. Malaysia has nasi lemak. But what happens when two different food and tourism cultures meet?

More conversations, more connections and potentially, more opportunities.

From 3–4 September 2026, the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) was in Seoul to explore the growing potential of Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality (MFTH) between Malaysia and South Korea.

The journey began with Korea Meets Halal: Expanding Global Market Access Through Malaysia, where ITC shared Malaysia’s experience and the Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality Assurance and Recognition (MFAR) framework with Korean government agencies and industry players.

Then came Salam Seoul Festival 2026, bringing together culture, community and tourism at Cheonggye Plaza.

ITC also met with the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF) to explore potential collaboration on MFAR, engaged with the Tourism Malaysia Seoul Office on Muslim-friendly travel opportunities, and explored Korea’s evolving Halal and Muslim-friendly market.

It was more than a business visit.

It was about understanding each other’s markets, exchanging ideas and finding common ground.

Because tourism is at its best when cultures meet, conversations happen and new possibilities begin.

And this time, Seoul was where the conversation started.
