RE-LAUNCH OF THE //KHARAS REGIONAL ROAD SAFETY FORUM

The Keetmanshoop Municipality (Traffic Division), in collaboration with the National Road Safety Council, Namibian Police Force, GIPF, MVA Fund, Road Fund Administration, and local authorities in the //Kharas Region, officially relaunched the //Kharas Regional Road Safety Forum under the theme “Road Safety Starts with Us: Together We Save Lives” and the motto “Our Roads, Our Safety, Our Responsibility.”

Having been in existence for the past 15 years, however dormant at some points, the //Kharas Regional Road Safety Forum is the first of its kind in Namibia. Against the background of Namibia’s recognition for having some of the best roads in Africa, the forum aims to promote road safety, advocate for responsible road use, and raise awareness among all road users to ensure that our roads remain safe for everyone.

During the event, His Worship, Hon. Cllr. Emrico Blaauw, delivered the welcoming remarks, highlighting the devastating impact of road traffic accidents on individuals, families, communities, healthcare services, and the economy.
He emphasized that behind every road accident is a human story- a mother, a father, a child, a breadwinner, or a loved one whose absence leaves a painful gap in the lives of those left behind. He challenged residents of the //Kharas Region to reflect on what they can do differently to make our roads safer.

The programme was officially launched by Hon. Governor Dawid Gertze, who also delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility and collaborative action in promoting road safety.

Courtesy Visit by New Era Publication Corporation

Today, Mr. Festus Goseb, Manager: Sales and Marketing at New Era Publication Corporation, paid a courtesy visit to the Keetmanshoop Municipality.

The visit served as a familiarisation meeting aimed at strengthening relationships with stakeholders and exploring opportunities for collaboration. Discussions focused on ensuring that stakeholders and residents of Keetmanshoop receive timely, accurate, and effective communication, while also providing an opportunity for New Era to share its future plans and projects.

Mr. Goseb was received by Mr. Adam Isaak, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Keetmanshoop Municipality, who welcomed the visit and expressed the Municipality’s openness to collaborative initiatives that promote effective communication and strengthen stakeholder engagement.
