On June 2, Chinese Embassy in Namibia hosted an Open Day event featuring Chinese martial arts, shadow puppetry, guzheng performances, and calligraphy experiences, showcasing the richness of traditional Chinese culture. The event is part of the Embassy’s series of activities marking the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Approximately 200 teachers, students, and parents from Windhoek International School attended the event.

In his remarks, Chinese Ambassador Zhao Weiping emphasized that cultural exchanges play a vital role in promoting the development of bilateral relations. The Chinese Embassy will take the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges as an opportunity to further advance cultural exchanges between China and Namibia, enabling more young Namibian students to learn about Chinese culture.

Mr. Ethan Van Drunen, Educational Director of Windhoek International School, stated that the Embassy’s Open Day provided a valuable opportunity for the school’s teachers and students to learn about Chinese culture. He expressed the school’s willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese Embassy to help Namibian youth gain a better understanding of China and the world.

The event was marked by a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere. Students eagerly participated in martial arts demonstrations, observed the art of shadow puppetry up close, and experienced firsthand the unique charm of Chinese culture.
