REST IN PEACE | The Kavango West Regional Council joins family, friends and the two Kavango regions in mourning the death of Nicodemus Kamina who played Kudumo in the popular Kasiku film.
Kamina passed on 27 April 2026.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through the Northern Namibia Small-Scale Farmers Livelihood Enhancement Project paid a courtesy visit to the Kavango West Regional Council yesterday.
The project, which is jointly being done by JICA and the ministry of agriculture aims to capacitate farmers, encourage mindset changes amongst farmers to market-oriented farming based on Smallholder Empowerment and Promotion approach , whose concept is produce to sell and not produce and sell.
During the meeting the Council was informed on the project aims and objectives. The team also took a field visit to Ruuga and Kahenge Agricultural Development Centres.

ITS A THIRD FOR THE YEAR | The Kavango West Regional Council held its third Management Committee Meeting at Nkurenkuru today.

DONE AND DUSTED | The Kavango West Regional Council concluded its annual plan for the 2026/27 financial year in Rundu last Friday.
The workshop was attended by the management, all constituency control administrative officers and heads of delegated functions and it was aimed at mapping a way forward for the new financial year, to clearly indicate what activities and programmes each ministry, directorate, division etc will carry out during this period.
KAPAKO WATER RESTORED / The water at Kapako Village has now been succesfully restored after a burned control box was replaced.
The comunity and school were without water for a few weeks, this after earlier attempts to restore the water was unsuccesful as the water committee bought a wrong control box of 0.5 killowatts, while the correct one is 2.2 killowats. The restoration period was further prolonged after the correct control box could not be found in Rundu, the nearest town to Kapako, as it was out of stock and it had to be ordered from Windhoek.
The component finally arrived today and the maintanance team from ministry of education and department of works worked tirelessly to install it and ensure that water is restored without further delays.

CAPACITY BUILDING | The Kapako residents were shown the ropes on goat and poultry farming at the Kapako Constituency Office yesterday.
The initiative is aimed at sharing knowledge on best practices for those in goat and poultry farming, as well as those who wish to take up this kind of farming.
The training was organized by the Constituency office, in collaboration with Feed-master and many residents turned up to be capacitated on how to farm with goats.
