Deputy Director for Resource Coordination and Programmes in the Directorate of Youth Development, Mr. Hillary Imbuwa, is representing the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC)) continental consultative workshop on the operationalisation of the YES! Health Strategy 2025–2028, being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 15–17 June 2026.
The workshop convenes delegates from African Union Member States and youth experts to deliberate on translating the YES! Health Strategy into actionable national and regional interventions. Discussions focus on strengthening the role of young people as strategic partners in advancing resilient, inclusive, and youth-responsive health systems across Africa.
Namibia’s participation is jointly undertaken by MEIYSAC and the Ministry of Health and Social Services, underscoring a coordinated, intersectoral approach to youth development and public health priorities.

The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Hon. Dr. Sanet L. Steenkamp, today officially announced the appointment of the full Board of the Boxing and Wrestling Control Board, which will serve a three-year term.
The newly appointed Board is chaired by Ronald Patrick Kurtz, with the following members:
• Dr. Naftal Natanael
• Anita Tjombe Gawanas
• Commissioner Monalisa Molebugi
• Superintendent Kaura Tjimuine
During the announcement, Hon. Steenkamp delivered a firm message on governance and operational conduct.
She encouraged the Board to work with a strong sense of purpose. “We are not taking any chances, we call on you to do your best. We believe in consultation and doing things correctly,” she said.
The Minister urged the Board to work together in the best interests of boxing and wrestling development over the next three years.

The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), in partnership with Cadilu Fishing Pty Ltd and the Real Madrid Foundation, has officially commenced the Oshakati leg of the Namibia Real Madrid Foundation Football Clinics Programme.
Participants kicked off the programme by learning and refining football skills specific to various positions on the field. Through practical training sessions, young players were introduced to techniques and responsibilities associated with attacking, midfield, defensive and goalkeeping roles, helping them better understand the game while developing their individual talents.
The clinics form part of ongoing efforts to create opportunities for youth development and social inclusion through sport across Namibia.

The programme featured remarks from Mr. Alexandre Baron
Head of Cooperation within the European Union Delegation to Namibia. Dr. Anna Matros-Goreses, a UNIICo-CREATE Project Member at NUST, provided an overview of the project and its desired outcomes. While, Dr. Nangula Iipumbu, a UNIICo-CREATE Project Member from UNAM, shared reflections on university-industry collaboration and its importance in enhancing graduate readiness for the labour market.
The event concluded with a panel discussion on “Co-Creation for Graduate Employability and Enterprise Development,” during which the Ministry was represented by Dr. Immolatrix Geingos, Deputy Director for Research, who contributed insights on strengthening partnerships between government, academia, and industry to support innovation and skills development.

Namibia Hosts Tanzanian School Leaders on Benchmarking Visit
The Executive Director in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mr. Erastus Mbumba Haitengela, this morning welcomed a delegation of 47 officials from the Union of Primary School Principals of the United Republic of Tanzania. The delegation is on a three-day benchmarking visit to Namibia.
The engagement, which was also attended by the Khomas Regional Director, Mr. Paulus Nghikembua, and the Director of Programmes and Quality Assurance in the Ministry, Ms. Ayesha Wentworth, focused on providing the visiting delegation with an overview of Namibia's education landscape, policy direction, and strategic priorities within the basic education sector.
The benchmarking visit aims to foster knowledge exchange, strengthen regional cooperation, and promote the sharing of best practices in education. As part of their programme, the delegation will visit selected schools in the Khomas Region, where they will engage directly with school principals to gain deeper insights into Namibia's education system, leadership approaches, and strategies for delivering quality education.

𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗜𝗖𝗼-𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗗𝗮𝘆
Hon. Dino Ballotti, The Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Education Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) this morning delivered a keynote address at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) during the UNIICo-CREATE Project Day.
Held under the theme, "Strengthening University, Industry and Government Collaboration", the event brought together development partners, industry leaders, government representatives, and academia to advance co-created learning, enhance graduate employability, and promote enterprise development for Namibia’s future economy.
Funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) Programme and led by the Technological Higher Education Network South Africa (THENSA), alongside local implementing partners such as NUST and the University of Namibia (UNAM), the UNIICo-CREATE Project seeks to address the pressing challenge of graduate unemployment in Namibia.
Co-hosted by MEIYSAC in collaboration with regional and international partners, the project represents a transformative step towards strengthening university-industry collaboration, modernizing academic curricula, and fostering innovation-led growth. Through strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange, UNIICo-CREATE aims to equip graduates with industry-relevant skills while contributing to the development of a resilient, innovation-driven knowledge economy in Namibia and across the SADC region.

Today, the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), through the Executive Director for Youth, Sport and National Service, Mr. Gerard N. Vries, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the South Africa-based Universal Greening Organisation (UGO) to partner on youth-led conservation, education, and green economy programmes.
The partnership will provide Pan-African leadership and sustainability training opportunities for young Namibians under the age of 30 and reinforces Namibia’s youth development priorities.
The initiative falls under the Directorate of Youth and aims to empower young people to become leaders in sustainability, environmental stewardship, and socio-economic development.
