🇪🇺🇺🇦 Stand with Ukraine
As we approach the Namibian winter months, we are reminded of the devastating impact of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s civilian energy system, violating international law.
⚫ 247 energy workers killed
⚫ Over 900 strikes on the national electricity operator
⚫ 9 GW of generating capacity damaged
⚫ Millions of Ukrainians left without electricity
Behind these figures are families forced to endure harsh winter conditions without reliable heat, light & essential services.
The EU and its Member States have stood with Ukraine through every winter of the war, providing emergency support to keep cities lit and homes warm.
Ukraine needs our solidarity and support more than ever.

Global temperatures are reported to have briefly reached levels around the 1.5°C benchmark compared to pre-industrial averages. This threshold is commonly used in climate science to monitor long-term global warming trends. Energy systems remain closely linked to global developments, including changes in markets and supply conditions that can affect prices and stability.
Over the past decades, the EU has reduced emissions significantly, while also expanding renewable energy and growing its economy. The transition continues, shaped by climate goals, energy needs, and ongoing economic change.
Reliable. And that’s the whole point.
