1️⃣ ✨ Today, I present my first priority as your Vice-President of Liberal International in the coming mandate, if I win your support at the 65th LI Congress in Bangkok:

👥 STRONGER PARTIES, BOLDER PARLIAMENTS, GLOBAL IMPACT
You can count on my utmost engagement in empowering member parties on the ground, deepening synergies with partner foundations, and leveraging our new African Liberal Parliamentary Alliance (ALPA) to turn liberal principles into effective legislative action—not only in Africa, but worldwide. European liberals have long benefited from functional regional parliamentary caucuses across the North Atlantic area, and I have worked hard to establish this same model in Africa. Now, we must ensure that the seeds we have planted grow and expand this proven framework to other regions across the globe, together! 🤝🌱

✨ Delivering on promises. Uniting continents. Securing our liberal future.

Russia-Africa Summit: Shame on African leaders?
Editorial
There is a recurring and deeply uncomfortable issue in modern geopolitics that should trouble every African citizen, intellectual and policymaker.
It is the sight of more than 40 African heads of state, representing a continent of 54 countries and over 1.4 billion people, packing their bags to travel to a single foreign capital.
Whether it is Washington, Beijing, Moscow, Sochi or Paris, the choreography remains largely the same. African leaders gather in one conference room to be addressed, managed and lectured by a foreign leader.
The proliferation of these forums, including the US-Africa Leaders Summit, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the Russia-Africa Summit and the traditional France-Africa summits, reflects a fundamentally flawed, outdated and, frankly, insulting diplomatic arrangement.
These gatherings reduce an immense and deeply diverse continent to a single geopolitical bloc. They treat sovereign nations, each with its own constitution, domestic priorities and foreign policy, as though they were merely administrative units within a larger global empire.

Namibian Government playing russian roulette with tax payer money.🤡 The International Energy Agency head says he never understood Germany shutting working nuclear plants to seek hydrogen from Namibia. The state holds 24% of Hyphen, and the final investment decision was due in early 2026.

Tomorrow the Petroleum Amendment Bill is back in Committee. Once it passes, it will not come back. Namibians, ask your MP where they stand.

At Tana Forum 2026 the Director General of Namibia's National Planning Commission said economic sovereignty requires control of resources and raw materials.

The share registers tell a different story. The World Nuclear Association lists Rössing as 68.6 percent China National Uranium Corporation and 3 percent Namibian government. Husab's operator is 90 percent owned by Ta**us, a China General Nuclear and China Africa Development Fund vehicle, with 10 percent held by the state's Epangelo.

Namibia's mines can supply about a tenth of world uranium output. Most of Husab's output goes to China.

For investors and partners the useful question is which policy instrument turns the sovereignty language into equity, processing or local supply contracts, and on what timetable.

At an African forum this weekend the head of our National Planning Commission said economic sovereignty means control of resources and raw materials.

Good words. Now look at home. At Rössing uranium mine the Namibian government owns 3 percent. China's state uranium company owns 68.6 percent. At Husab the state holds 10 percent.

We are proud of our uranium and of the Namibians who mine it. But sovereignty is counted in shares and in what stays here. Who controls our uranium today?

Namibia has significant uranium mines capable of providing 10% of world mining output. Its first commercial uranium mine began operating in 1976. There is strong government support for expanding uranium mining and some interest in using nuclear power.
