Lucia Iipumbu, thanked Namibians for their meaningful participation and contributions towards shaping the country’s migration framework. The Minister emphasised the importance of balancing the provisions of the law with realities on the ground, noting that public input is essential in strengthening the Bill.

Minister Iipumbu assured participants that the views received “will not be ignored” but will be carefully considered to ensure the final law serves Namibia’s interests. The programme concluded with a visit to the Buitepos Police Station, where the Deputy Minister received a briefing on operational activities, toured the facility, and interacted with police officers and support staff.

The engagement forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen border management, enhance security, and ensure that officials stationed at ports of entry are adequately supported in carrying out their responsibilities.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Regional Councillor for Gobabis Constituency, Hon. Kalili; the Deputy Chairperson of the Charleshill District Council, Hon. Libereki; the Regional Commander of the Omaheke Region, Commissioner Tjiveze; senior immigration officials; senior members of the Namibian Police Force; and senior representatives from the Roads Fund Administration (RFA), the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), the Port Health Office of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the Namibia Agronomic Board, the Department of Immigration, and the Directorate of Veterinary Services under the Ministry of Agriculture.
