_Massive Crowd From Akpoha To Ekoli Edda Defies Rain, Declares: "Triple A Is Our Own"_

It was carnival-like, emotional and historic in Afikpo and Edda Federal Constituency yesterday as the House of Representatives Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), *Chief Agwu Amah Agwu (Triple A)*, returned to his country home after months of political consultations across Nigeria and the diaspora.

From the early hours of the morning, the entire stretch of the constituency was agog. At *Akpoha*, the first port of call, a mammoth crowd of youths, women leaders, elders and stakeholders were already waiting with songs, banners and solidarity chants.

The convoy moved to *Afikpo Ebiri Filling Station*, where the crowd doubled. Traders abandoned their shops, okada riders joined the motorcade, and women sang traditional songs of welcome for their son.

In *Amasiri*, the narrative was the same — massive turnout. The people lamented the prolonged blackout and poor representation, but expressed hope that Triple A, who has consistently spoken about the Amasiri Sub-Station, will give them voice.

*Oso and Owutu Edda* stood still as stakeholders, youth groups and women leaders trooped out en masse. The chant was loud and clear: _"Triple A, Afikpo-Edda is your home, we are with you!"_

The climax was at *Ekoli Edda, Letu Road*, his country home, where an unprecedented, arousing welcome awaited him. The entire community — home and abroad, young and old — came out to receive their son. It was a homecoming like no other.

Despite the sad news of the demise of his beloved mother, the good people of Afikpo-Edda defied emotions and came out in their numbers to show solidarity, to console him, and to reaffirm their support. It was a powerful display of love and kinship that moved many to tears.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, leaders of various stakeholder groups from Afikpo North and Afikpo South (Edda) unanimously declared Chief Agwu Amah Agwu as their *CONSENSUS CANDIDATE* among top contenders for the 2027 House of Representatives seat.

Speaking at Ekoli, a prominent stakeholder Chief Chukwuma Imo Oka said:

> "We have seen them all. We have heard them all. But Triple A has capacity, character and compassion. He served us before politics, he is accessible, and he understands our pains — from electricity to education to empowerment. Afikpo/Edda has decided: Triple A is our consensus."

Another women leader Ngozi Igwe Coordinator Triple A Ladies added:

> "He has been paying school fees and hospital bills without making noise. Now that he wants to go and represent us, we will all go with him. Ndi Nne anyi no longer want audio empowerment."

In his brief emotional remarks, Chief Agwu Amah Agwu, who was visibly moved by the show of love despite mourning his mother, thanked the people for their solidarity.

> "This is not about me. This is about Afikpo/Edda. I left my comfort to answer your call. I did not come to take, I came to serve. I will give Afikpo/Edda effective representation, I will fight for our light, our schools, our health centres, and our youths. The era of representation by absence is over."

He promised to continue his private philanthropy while pursuing a people-centred legislative agenda that will bring federal presence to every Ward in the constituency.

As the 2027 House of Representatives election approaches, the political conversation in Afikpo/Edda must rise above sentiments. It must focus on ideas, capacity, records, accountability, and the practical needs of our people.

*Chief Agwu Amah Agwu (Triple A)*, the NDC Candidate for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency, has identified *effective representation, community development, and stronger advocacy* as the core of his political vision.

*2027 AFIKPO-EDDA: LET THE RECORDS, CAPACITY AND VISION SPEAK*

As the race for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency gathers momentum, the contest is becoming clearer. Hon. Joseph Ekuma Nkama, former Minister of State for Health, now seeks the Green Chamber on the APC ticket. Barrister Eni Uduma Chima, two-term member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and former long-serving Chairman of Edda LGA, has emerged as the PDP standard-bearer.

Two seasoned office-holders. Two major parties. One lingering question the people are asking: *What lasting, measurable transformation did either of them deliver while power was in their hands?*

*HIGH OFFICE WITHOUT HOME IMPACT*

Hon. Joseph Ekuma Nkama held the levers of national health policy, primary healthcare programmes and federal health facilities as Minister of State for Health. It was a rare opportunity to attract federal presence to his own people.

Yet the Primary Health Centres in his own LGA remain in the condition captured in recent videos and pictures — dilapidated, poorly equipped, forcing the sick to seek care in Afikpo, Ohafia, Umuahia, Aba, Abakaliki and Uburu. No widely documented federal health infrastructure was attracted to Edda. No clear record of modern equipment installed. No significant facilitation of federal employment for sons and daughters of the land that the community can point to with pride.

High office without corresponding home impact is simply occupancy, not representation.

Hon. Eni Uduma Chima occupied the State House of Assembly and the Edda Local Government Chairmanship across more than a decade of cumulative public service. Local government is the tier closest to the people — the level where rural roads, primary health, basic education and community infrastructure should show visible change.

Yet after those long years in office, the transformative footprint many expected remains contested at best and invisible at worst. Recycled tenure without corresponding development is the very definition of political continuity without progress. The people have seen the cycle: occupy the seat, collect the allocation, return with little to show that improves daily life.

Both men now seek elevation to the Green Chamber. One comes with residual national prestige; the other with prolonged local occupancy. Neither has presented a compelling ledger of concrete, lasting deliverables that match the length or height of the offices already held.

Against this backdrop of prolonged tenure with limited measurable returns, Chief Agwu Amah Agwu offers a different proposition — *capacity rooted in delivery, not in residual titles or recycled occupancy.*

A United States-based certified financial expert, entrepreneur and community investor, he has already put verifiable skin in the game at home. His existing footprint in Edda includes:

- Pure water and bottled water production that creates direct jobs;
- Agro-processing hubs — palm oil, cassava-to-garri, rice, cashew — that add value to local produce before it leaves the land;
- Educational scholarships for indigent students.

These are not campaign promises. They are private investments already employing youths and women and keeping economic value within the community.

He understands the equity argument that has been ignored for too long. After decades of representation skewed toward one segment of the constituency, fairness and natural justice demand that Edda produce the next voice in the Green Chamber. He frames this not as bitter division but as the path to inclusive, balanced representation.

His legislative agenda is practical and constituency-centred: energising the existing Amasiri sub-power station to end the long darkness in Afikpo/Edda, using legislative authority and oversight to attract genuine federal projects, strengthening primary healthcare through sustained advocacy and targeted interventions, and creating an enabling environment for private investment and job creation.

He speaks the language of accountability, measurable outcomes, and community-based development — the opposite of “occupy the seat and hope for the best.”

Afikpo/Edda does not need another resume of past offices held. It needs a representative who has already demonstrated the capacity to identify local needs, mobilise resources, create employment, and treat development as a continuous responsibility rather than a seasonal talking point.

Chief Agwu Amah Agwu has shown that capacity on the ground.

Recent calls for Edda to unite behind a single, pre-selected aspirant for the 2027 House of Representatives seat merit careful and sober reflection.

Edda rightly deserves fairness, equity, and effective representation. Unity remains a worthy aspiration. Yet unity must never be permitted to serve as a vehicle for imposing a candidate upon the people.

The approach of designating one individual as the automatic consensus choice and urging others to withdraw raises a fundamental question: _Consensus by whom, and in whose interest?_

For years, Edda has voiced legitimate concerns about political godfathers, excessive external influence, and the risk that political structures become extensions of individual or familial interests. It would be inconsistent to reject one form of political dominion only to accept another under the banner of "consensus."

Edda must therefore confront a simple but decisive question: _Are we selecting our representative because the people of Edda have freely chosen him, or because powerful political interests have predetermined who should speak for us?_

*WHY CHIEF AGWU AMAH AGWU STANDS OUT*

Among the principal contenders for the seat, Chief Agwu Amah Agwu stands out clearly. His distinction rests on a record that long predates any electoral ambition.

He has built productive enterprises — establishing industrial and agro-based concerns that have generated employment, skills transfer, and tangible economic opportunity for many sons and daughters of Edda. These concrete contributions to livelihoods and community development form the foundation of the goodwill he currently enjoys.

1. Who can construct an independent political structure without becoming beholden to external patrons?
2. Who will remain accountable to the people after election day?

These questions matter more than any calculation of who can most efficiently consolidate votes.

Edda should not be pressured into surrendering its political agency out of fear of any individual or structure. What is required is a movement strong enough to prevail on the strength of its people, its organisation, its message, and its candidate.

I sincerely hope that the next Ebonyi state Commissioner for Works will be appointed based on merit, professional competence, relevant qualifications, experience, and proven capacity to deliver.

In this regard, I respectfully wish to draw the attention of His Excellency to my classmate and good friend, Arch. Anwara Ewa Elechi (Warren), a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in architecture, building, construction, and related areas of the built environment.

Warren brings to the table extensive practical knowledge of the construction and building industry, professional experience spanning decades, and a strong understanding of the technical and administrative demands of the works sector. His background and experience have also given him valuable familiarity with the operations and responsibilities associated with the Ministry of Works.

With his professional exposure, technical knowledge, years of experience, and understanding of the built environment, I believe Arch. Anwara Ewa Elechi (Warren) deserves serious consideration for the position of Ebonyi state Commissioner for Works.

Your Excellency, I respectfully appeal that you consider competence, experience, professional qualification, and capacity for effective service in making this important appointment.

Listen to the latest script from Eni Uduma Chima: _"We are three contestants. One of them is from Ali Bekee. He doesn't use to come back to the village. It was someone that showed him his father's building."_

Every single line is deliberate fabrication.

Chief Agwu Amah Agwu returns to the village every year. He is in Edda, he is in his family compound, he is with his people. The claim that he needed a guide to locate his own father's building is not just false — it is political fiction manufactured to poison the atmosphere.

When a man who has tested power for 8 years resorts to inventing stories about a rival's absence, he is no longer campaigning. He is running a disinformation operation.

Let us ask the real questions:

What did Edda gain from 8 years in the House of Assembly? Where is the transformative legislation? Where are the lasting constituency projects that changed the material condition of our people? The only legacy still being waved is Okpiti and division.

A record of 8 years with no lasting impact, open disrespect for traditional institutions, and constant political crisis is not a credential for higher office.

We are not returning to that Egypt.

The people of Edda have lived through that experiment. They know the difference between an *Onye Ali Bekee* who went out, acquired new capacity, built professional excellence at the world stage, and is offering something different — and a man whose only remaining strategy is to manufacture lies about another man's connection to home.

Edda will not reward the architect of division and the author of political falsehoods.

The choice before Edda in 2027 is clear: *Competence over noise. Character over fabrication. Triple A over recycled failure.*
