Daily news~Vigilant youths captured a suspected bandit during an attack on Bigwa village in Mbayenge, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. Armed bandits attacked the village in the early hours of Tuesday, August 19, 2025. According to local sources, the assailants stormed the community around 2 a.m. but were confronted by the village youths. In the ensuing struggle, one of the bandits was apprehended, while others escaped with serious injuries. Some youths reportedly sustained injuries during the clash, but the captured bandit was handed over to security operatives for further investigation. Residents have commended the bravery of the youths while calling for a stronger security presence in the area to forestall future attacks.

The President of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved with immediate effect the appointment of board chairpersons for 42 federal organizations and a secretary to the board of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services.

Among the list, two distinguished individuals made the list from Ebonyi State:

1. Chief Austin Umahi appointed as Chairman of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.

2. Hon. Chief Mathew Uguru appointed as Chairman of the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to them and express my gratitude to the two leaders of our state, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru and Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, for their commendable representation of Ebonyi.
