OSUN WEST BYE ELECTION,MY TAKE: While congratulating Dr. Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke for his victory at the poll yesterday, I wish to also say that Osun West people voted for the candidate and not the Party. Dr. Adeleke will still win if given APC ticket. Two factors came to play, a compensation vote for the Adelekes and a protest vote against impunity and Bad governance. This is a true reflection of expectations in 2019 elections, people will vote for candidates of their choice not minding political platform or sentiments. Kudos to the Ede people and congratulations once again to the Adelekes.

AMOSUN'S DECLARATION AS ACID TEST FOR OGUN EAST'S LOVE FOR OGUN WEST.
Within two months,two major political icons from the Ogun Central Senatorial District,a former President,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the incumbent governor,Senator Ibikunle Amosun have openly declared support for the Ogun West to produce the next governor of the State.They have both hinged their position on equity,fairness and perhaps,sympathy.It is sufficient to feel that the opinion of these two leaders is a true reflection of the opinion of majority of the people of Ogun Central.Of course,one can understand why the Egbas now feel free to support the Ogun West or Yewa people.They have been governor twice,and Yewa has never had one.Even when in 2011,the slogan was Yewa lokan,the Egba leaders have bluntly said they could not wait for sixteen years to become governor again.They therefore twisted the slogan to their desire,to wit; Yewa lokan,Egba lo ma a se.Now,that the ego of the Egbas has been boosted and satisfied,they seem to be ready and are willing to help their brothers in the defunct Abeokuta Province to at least have a consolatory go at the governorship.But if the Ogun Central now seek to right the wrong of many years and openly support the ambition of Ogun West after producing two governors,what is the position of the Ijebus and Remos of Ogun East who have also produced two governors for Ogun State?Is it not ironical and disappointing that some politicians from Ogun East want to have a third go,while Ogun West,which assisted Onabanjo to win the governorship in 1979 and OGD to win in 2003 have not had any.Yet,our elders keep telling us that there was an understanding or a covenant between our leaders, Senator Odebiyi/Otegbeye and their leaders, Awolowo/Onabanjo.We have also been cajoled and innundated with the idea of existing love between Yewa and Ijebus.Yet, political realities, over the years,have shown that such love is actually one-sided.Even as Governor Amosun had cleverly said he would not support but would not campaign against Ogun East's ambition,methink it would be unfair and amount to back-stabing for the Ogun East to field any candidate,challenge or attempt to prevent Ogun West from having the governorship seat come 2019.This is the time to know who really loves Ogun West or at the least have any sympathy for the Yewa people.The present silence of the Ijebu's,to me,is quite uncharitable and self-seeking.The time is now for the Yewa people to know who their real political friends or allies are;is it the Egbas or Ijebus.

I am delighted to announce to us the zoning of posts for our respected Association's The National Association of Yewa Students "NATIONAL BODY" Executive offices.

It took us about two weeks to finalise this decision and I want everyone of us to accept this decision with fate and for the best interest and early progress of our dear Association and our region, Ogun west at large.

This decision was made selflessly, using the outcome of the last Congress meeting as bases for the betterment of the Association and I enjoin every selected school to fast track their own decision by sending the names of their representatives to us as soon as possible.

IYALODE EFUNSETAN ANIWURA(IYALODE IBADAN)

Efunsetan Aniwura, the great Iyalode of Ibadan, was a wealthy and powerful woman of unusual boldness, strength and intelligence. According to accounts of books, biographies and films about her, she reigned as the Iyalode of Ibadan for years. No light was shed about her husband but she had only one child (girl), who died at a very young age, between the age...s of 19 and 22 years whilst in labour.

Efunsetan was a very close friend of Madam Tinubu the Iyalode of Egba. She was a wealthy woman in their days. Till date it is said that Efunsetan was the boldest, most powerful and wealthiest Iyalode that reigned in Yoruba land. Her glory was rare and could not be compared with any other during her reign. Efunsetan was a business woman who travelled round the country to buy products like bitter kola, kola-nut, cocoa, etc, she was well-known among the Hausa and the western states.“She was among the first women that had business transaction with the white men.This also helped Ibadan in civilizing the people”.

Efunsetan had her own warriors and slaves like the king and released them for war in favour of her people. During her days, she helped to improve the economy of Ibadan through business transactions. She was also a good employer of labour. She was among the first women that had business transaction with the white men.This also helped Ibadan in civilizing the people. She was loved by all. Although a very strict woman, she was also very nice to her slaves and employees. She gave out gift and money to them freely at times without measure. A story was cited about a slave of hers who delivered twins in her absence. At her return, she gave her food, clothing, pomade, even money. She gave out her slaves in marriages and even conducted naming ceremonies for them, but all these stopped after the death of her daughter.
After d death of her daughter she started miltreating d slaves and people around her.she stop worshipping God n asked God to mind his Heaven.while she mind her Earth.according to d writer she made dis statement because God has failed her for taking her only child away. Aniwura started using charms but we were not told if she was a witch.she told her slaves dat she dose not want to hear d cry of a baby.dat whosoever gets pregnant will die.her wickedness became to much dat several attempts was made by d king to bring Efunsetan to the palace But all to no avail.later d king n his warriors went to Efunsetan house.she came out from her house n ask the king if she can be excuse.d king said yes.Efunsetan went inside her house and drank poison n killed herself.according to her. it is better dis way instead of bringing shame and ridicule up on herself.d story has a sad end. A very large tanker carrying gas was on a high speed along Lagos/Ibadan Express way, Meanwhile one okada (Motorcycle) was coming from the opposite direction, they were both on high speed. To cut the story short, just before MFM...The Tanker driver spotted the okada man and he noticed the man was his old friend, so he blasted his horn, slowed down and parked and they hugged each other with a lovely smile....STOP EXPECTING BAD NEWS.
