I am deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in me through my adoption as the APC Consensus Candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency for the 2027 General Election. This gesture is not only an honour but a profound call to greater service.

To every party member in all the 15 wards of Abeokuta South Local Government, to our tireless youth and women, to all political leaders, elders, and every supporter who stood firm, canvassed, prayed, and believed in the Abeokuta South Agenda; I say Thank You.

I reserve special appreciation for my leader and Governor, 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮, 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙥𝙤 𝘼𝙗𝙞𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙣, 𝘾𝙊𝙉, thank you Your Excellency, for your purposeful leadership, and for providing the enabling environment for internal democracy to thrive. This mandate is a call to greater service, more than ever before. I therefore pledge to justify your trust by continuing on the path of effective representation anchored on accessibility, empowerment, and development for Abeokuta South; from Ake to Kuto, Ijeja to Ijemo, Ago-Oba to Sapon and all the nooks and crannies of Abeokuta South. CPS REFORM: A MOTION BY REP AFOLABI AFUAPE TO PROTECT NIGERIAN RETIREES

In December 2025, the House of Representatives of Nigeria took a decisive action courtesy of Hon Afolabi Afuape's motion, titled “Call for the Review and Reform of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to Enhance Retirees’ Welfare.” to address growing hardship among retirees by calling for a comprehensive overhaul of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

The motion was unanimously adopted in the plenary over a deep concern that the pension system is failing to deliver financial security for retired workers.

Originally introduced under the Pension Reform Act 2004 and updated in 2014, the CPS was designed to guarantee dignity after service. However, Hon. Afuape noted that:

~Pension payouts are increasingly inadequate amid inflation and rising living costs

~Retirees face restricted access to their savings, with most funds locked under management

~Weak transparency and oversight have led to declining trust in pension administration

~Persistent employer non-compliance continues to undermine the system

Hence, the House is now pushing for:

° A full legislative and structural review of the CPS.

° Stronger regulation by the National Pension Commission.

° Improved returns, transparency, and accountability.

° Tougher sanctions against defaulting employers.

° A fairer system that guarantees security and dignity in retirement.

"Retirement should not mean hardship. Reform is no longer optional; it is urgent!" Says, Hon. Afuape.

In less than 3 years as your representative at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Afolabi Moruf Afuape has constructed 2 blocks of 9 classrooms, renovated 2 blocks of 4 classrooms, supplied hundreds of desks and benches to schools, distributed writing materials to pupils and students, and provided other facilities like toilets, boreholes and others to schools within the Federal Constituency.

Ward 7 of Abeokuta South Local Government came alive on Sunday, 19th April 2026, as residents and party faithful warmly received Hon. Afolabi Moruf Afuape during his ongoing Ward-to-Ward Tour across the constituency.

The visit to Ijaye/Idi-Aba carried a special significance, as the Ward proudly hosted Hon. Afuape as their in-law, given that his wife hails from Ijaye in Ward 7. The atmosphere was therefore one of enthusiasm, appreciation, and a strong sense of communal pride.

The Ward-to-Ward initiative by Hon. Afuape is designed to appreciate party members for their steadfast support, assess developments within the wards, and obtain direct feedback from grassroots stakeholders to strengthen party cohesion and responsive representation.

In their remarks, Hon. Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan and Hon Adenekan Kazzem on behalf of the ward and party members expressed profound appreciation to Hon Afuape for the impactful constituency projects he has facilitated within the ward so far. Notably, three key projects have significantly improved the lives of residents. These include the renovation of two blocks of four classrooms at Community Primary School, Gbangba, which has been successfully completed; the supply and energization of a 500KVA transformer at Idi-Aba, which is currently serving the community; and the ongoing construction of the Idi-Aba–Olokuta–Laderin Road, a project expected to further enhance mobility and economic activities in the area.

The event was graced by several prominent personalities, including the Ogun State Commissioner for Rural Development, Mrs Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan, a proud daughter of Ijaye, who commended Hon. Afuape for his dedication to grassroots development. Other dignitaries in attendance included Chief Olu Ọdẹyẹmi, former Commissioner for Special Duties; Chief (Mrs) Olabisi Abiola, Member of the Governor’s Advisory Council; Chief (Mrs) Simisola Onaji, former Chairman of the defunct Abeokuta South East Local Government Development Area; Hon. Musbau Oguntoyinbo, former Secretary of the defunct Abeokuta South East Local Government Development Area; and the serving Councillor representing the ward, Hon. Adenekan Kazzem, among several other respected leaders and stakeholders.

As part of the engagement and appreciation for party loyalty, Hon. Afuape presented a financial support of ₦20,000 each to 25 dedicated party members, while a sum of ₦500,000 was also donated to support party activities within the ward.
