Representationof Ward Development Committee (WDC) Ogun State Council at the Capacity Building Workshop on CSO Self-Regulation
The Ward Development Committee (WDC) Ogun State Council was represented at a One-Day Capacity Building Workshop on Scaling the Adoption of Civil Society Organization (CSO) Self-Regulation in Nigeria, organized by the Coalition of NGOs, Ogun State (CONGOS) in collaboration with the Ethics and Good Leadership Awareness Initiative (EGLAI).
The workshop brought together civil society leaders, community development stakeholders, and representatives of various organizations to strengthen the principles of transparency, accountability, ethical leadership, and institutional integrity within the civil society sector.
During the training, participants were exposed to practical frameworks and strategies that promote self-regulation among CSOs, emphasizing responsible leadership, proper governance structures, financial accountability, and improved service delivery to communities.
For the Ward Development Committee (WDC) Ogun State Council, this training is highly relevant and directly connected to its grassroots development mandate. As a community-based structure that supports the Primary Health Care system, community mobilization, and grassroots development initiatives, WDC plays a critical role in promoting transparency, accountability, and community participation in public service delivery.
The knowledge gained from the workshop will further strengthen the capacity of WDC to:
- Enhance community engagement and participation in development programs.
- Promote accountability and transparency in community-driven projects.
- Strengthen collaboration with civil society organizations, government agencies, and development partners.
- Improve oversight and support for primary healthcare services at the grassroots level.

MESSAGE OF HOPE AND COMMITMENT DURING THE HOLY SEASON OF LENT
On behalf of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council, I warmly extend sincere greetings to our Christian brothers and sisters as you observe this sacred season of Lent.
Lent is a period of sacrifice, reflection, discipline, and renewed devotion. It teaches us selflessness, compassion for the vulnerable, and the importance of service to humanity. These virtues are the very foundation upon which the Ward Development Committee stands.
WDC represents grassroots participation, community unity, accountability, and sustainable development. The spirit of Lent — giving, praying, fasting, and reaching out to those in need — aligns perfectly with our mandate to strengthen primary healthcare, promote community development initiatives, support youth empowerment, and encourage collective responsibility across our wards in Ogun State.
As you fast and pray, may this season inspire deeper commitment not only to spiritual growth but also to community service. May it rekindle our shared responsibility to build healthier communities, stronger institutions, and a more united Ogun State.
Just as Lent prepares believers for renewal and resurrection, may this season prepare our communities for progress, peace, and sustainable development. Together, through faith and action, we can transform sacrifice into service and prayer into purposeful impact.
May God grant you strength, grace, and abundant blessings throughout this holy season.
