Tension Mounts As October 20 Approaches: March to A*o Rock Gains Momentum

As the calendar edges closer to October 20, political watchers and human rights activists across Nigeria are keeping their eyes on what is fast shaping up to be one of the most defining civic actions in recent years, the March to A*o Rock.

There have been growing lists of political heavyweights, civil rights figures, and notable voices of conscience signaling their readiness to join the march. Among them are Omoyele Sowore, the fiery human rights activist and convener of the movement; Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria; and Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who have all lend their voices against the unlawful detention of the IPOB leader.

The planned march is intended to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who has been unlawfully detained since 2021 under the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Despite numerous court rulings ordering his release, the Nigerian government has persistently defied these orders, a move that many legal experts and observers describe as “a direct assault on the rule of law.”

Perhaps, the most intriguing aspect of the forthcoming march is the coalition it appears to be building. For the first time in recent memory, politicians from divergent backgrounds and activists long known for opposing one another are finding common ground in a shared call for justice.

While Sowore’s participation reflects his consistent demand for freedom, equity, and good governance, the inclusion of Atiku and Jonathan both former presidential candidates and established figures within Nigeria’s political mainstream signals a shift in tone. It suggests that the issue of Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention has now transcended ethnic and partisan lines to become a national moral question.

Omotosho’s Failure on Kanu’s No-Case Submission

Issued by: Legal Department of the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID) under the authority of its president, Dr. Sylvester Onyia
Date:28th September 2025.

Justice James Omotosho’s ruling on the no-case submission of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu stands as one of the most troubling examples of judicial dereliction in recent memory. It is either the judge suffers from a limited grasp of the English language, fails to read the regulating statutes—the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 and the Evidence Act 2011—or worse, he lacks the capacity to comprehend, infer, and apply the law he swore to uphold. At the darkest extreme, it appears Omotosho is afraid of doing justice, averse to truth, and contemptuous of God, in whose name he took his judicial oath.

The First Law Omotosho Ignored: ACJA 2015, Section 303(3)(a)-(d);

In Nigerian jurisprudence, the foundational statutory test for a no-case submission is crystal clear. It is Section 303(3) ACJA and nothing else. This law directs Omotosho to ask himself and answer the following questions:

a. Has any essential element of the offence been proved?

b. Is there any evidence linking the defendant with the commission of the offence?

c. Is the evidence so far led such that a reasonable court could convict on it?

d. Or is there any other ground showing that no prima facie case has been made out?

This is written in simple English, leaving no room for distortion. The decisive question under subsection (c) is stark: Has the evidence led by the prosecution grounded a conviction? The answer, from the record of proceedings, is an emphatic “No.” Yet Omotosho refused to follow the law.

The Second Law Omotosho Ignored: Evidence Act 2011, Section 122;

Section 122 of the Evidence Act imposes a mandatory duty on the court to take judicial notice of the repeal of a statute. The Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act 2013, under which the charges were framed, was repealed by the

BREAKING:“I consider myself Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Governor, and I want to assure you that securing his release will no longer take much time,” — Governor Alex C. Otti Speaks

25/09/2025

Today is the 24th day of Sept, 2025. Myself and my colleagues, we are just coming out from DSS facility somewhere along Lugbe Express Highway where we went to visit our client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to find out the status of his health, only to discover that yesterday, the 23rd of Sept, 2025, the Nigerian Medical Council brought in seasoned Medical practitioners from various zones of the institute to conduct and review the examination done by Prof, Aghaji on our client Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,.you know it became necessary because of the controversy raised by one of the DSS called Dr. Nasiru Mohammed who wanted to debunk all the tests and findings of Prof. Aghaji.
Prof Aghaji had found out that Nnamdi Kanu has issues with his Kidney, with his pancreas, with his prostate, with his heart, and the depletion of potassium in his blood stream and he deposed to those facts in an affidavit before a court of law. Unfortunately one Dr. Nasiru Mohammed who was not or who has never on his own inspected or investigated Nnamdi decided to depose to an affidavit contradicting the whole findings.
Thank God the Attorney General of the Federation, Fagbemi SAN, wanting to do justice we believe, now requested the medical Council to give him an independent body to review or to investigate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's health status. As we are here, the 24th of September, 2025, we want to inform the world that this team of Doctors confirmed the findings of Prof. Aghaji and also discovered more (severe). As a matter of fact, they found out that Mazi has an issue with the Nostue that requires urgent medical surgery. This was incurred as a result of torture in Kenya in the hands of Kenya security operatives and their Nigeria collaborators when they renditioned him from Kenya to Abuja Nigeria-so the situation of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's health as we are saying today is detoriating by the day. We are urging Nigerians and lovers of freedom to take into consideration that it is only a man that is alive that can ever stan

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s health is deteriorating, the Nigerian government or the powers behind his continued detention should as a matter of urgency, release him so he can be flown abroad for proper medical care!!!!

Yes I said flown abroad because what he needs at this point is INTENSE MEDICAL CARE and we all know that’s not possible in Nigeria, I mean even the president of the country and other political office holders travel abroad for medical care because they have no faith in their own country’s medical system.

Engaging t€rror1sts in negotiation whilst continously detaining an innocent man who has been discharged and acquitted by competent courts in Nigeria, still depriving him of proper medical attention is the new definition of INHUMANITY!p

We Must be vigilant on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's health. The Nigerian government is trying to play a fast game.
