1. The 2026 Physical and Credential Screening Exercise, which commenced on 9th March 2026 and is scheduled to run until 18th April 2026, is still ongoing at the Police Officers’ Mess, opposite Damgrete Hotel, Factory Road, Umuahia.

2. Below are updates and summary of applicants screened from 7th April to date, 11th April 2026:

•Tuesday (Day 21): 7th April– 52 applicants

•Wednesday (Day 22): 8th April – 44 applicants

•Thursday (Day 23): 9th April – 53 applicants

•Friday (Day 24): 10th April – 52 applicants

•Saturday (Day 25): 11th April – 54 applicants

Total Applicants Screened for the Week: 255

3.The screening exercise has been progressing smoothly and concluded successfully for the week today,11th April 2026 . Activities will resume Monday, 13th April 2026.

ABIA STATE POLICE COMMAND ASSURES CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL OF A SECURE AND JOYFUL EASTER CELEBRATION

The Abia State Police Command extends warm Easter greetings to all Christians in the state. As we observe this sacred occasion commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, may joy, peace and blessings abound in your hearts and homes.

In line with our commitment to ensuring public safety, the Command has activated a comprehensive Operation Order to provide robust security measures before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.

Security personnel have been strategically deployed across Abia State to guarantee the safety of lives and property. Regular and coordinated patrols of major roads, worship centers and other public areas are ongoing. These efforts, alongside other covert and overt operations are aimed to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration for all.

PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE ABIA STATE COMMAND CP DANLADI ISA: HELD ON THURSDAY 2/04/2026 AT THE COMMAND HEADQUARTERS UMUAHIA

1. Greetings, esteemed members of the media. I extend a warm welcome to you all to this press conference. In compliance with the directive of the 23rd Indigenous Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on the presentation of welfare cheques to the families of deceased police personnel in the Federation and in the spirit of the celebration of the National Police Day.

2. The Abia State Police Command presents Eleven (11) Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare cheques, totaling Eleven million, nine hundred and sixty thousand, two hundred and four naira, eighty-eight kobo (₦11,960,204.88) only, which will be given to the families of our fallen officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

3. Following the presentation, I will update the public on the Command’s continuous efforts in combating crime and fostering a secure environment conducive to socio-economic growth in the State.

4. From January 2026 till date, the Command has recorded a total of 142 cases of various criminal offences, leading to the arrest of 226 suspects. Several of these cases have been thoroughly investigated, charged to court, and are currently undergoing prosecution, with suspects remanded in correctional centres.

5. Furthermore, the Command has recorded significant operational successes in the fight against cultism and related crimes. A total of 13 cult-related cases have been investigated, 23 suspects arrested, arraigned d in court and remanded in correctional custody and 32 arms recovered during these operations. Currently, five cult-related cases are also under interrogation. These efforts are part of the Command’s zero-tolerance for cultism and its commitment to sustaining relative peace and security across the state.

6. Through sustained intelligence-led operations and proactive policing strategies, the Command has rescued several trafficked/stolen children, recovered 46 fi****ms of various specifications, 16 rounds of ammunition/cartridges, and dismantled criminal networks operating within the State.

7. These sustained operational efforts have contributed significantly to the reduction of crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, defilement and r**e, child trafficking, unlawful possession of fi****ms, stealing, burglary, assault occasioning harm, malicious damage, advance fee fraud, among others.

8. Additionally, the Command has recovered stolen vehicles, auto-rickshaws (tricycles), and motorcycles, rescued kidnapped victims and recovered bags containing substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa (Indian h**p) and other illicit hard drugs.

The Abia state Police Command, in the spirit of the National Police Day, and in line with the vision of the Inspector-General Of Police, in ensuring proactive policing and community partnership in building trust, the Command reiterates it's commitment in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.

Recognizing that security is a collective responsibility, the Command encourages members of the public to collaborate in sustaining relative peace and security in the state by reporting any suspicious activity or security concerns to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency lines.

National Police Day 2026 Abia State Command Day 4

Honouring of our fallen heroes in Abia, alongside a press conference which will feature the presentation of cheques to the families of the Command’s fallen heroes.

This rounds off the activities at the Command level.

National Police Day 2026 Abia State Command Day 3: Public Sensitization Campaign / School Outreach by POCACOV

As part of activities marking Day 3 of the National Police Week, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), Abia State Command, had a school outreach and sensitization programme.

During the outreach, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, alongside the POCACOV Coordinator, ASP Ekenta Ngozi Blessing, engaged the pupils in an interactive session. The students were first enlightened on the duties and responsibilities of a police officer, helping them better understand the role of the Police in society.

They were also sensitized on the dangers and consequences of engaging in crime, Cultism and other social vices. The session was tailored to guide and inspire the children, reminding them that they are leaders of tomorrow and making the right choices today is key to a better future.

This initiative is part of the Command’s proactive measures to curb crime from the grassroots by positively shaping young minds, while also inspiring confidence in policing as a noble and professional career.

The Abia State Police Command remains committed to community engagement and building a safer society through continuous sensitization and partnership with the public.

NATIONAL POLICE DAY 2026 DAY 3: ABIA STATE COMMAND HOLDS PUBLIC SENSITIZATION CAMPAIGN

1. As part of the ongoing activities commemorating the National Police Day Celebration 2026, today, 01/04/2026, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, held a Public Sensitization Campaign at the Command Headquarters, Umuahia.

2. The conference brought together representatives of stakeholders, including members of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, the State Chairman and members of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), traditional and community leaders, representatives of Abia State Tricycles Operators Union (ASTOPU), representatives of Police Officers Wives' Association (POWA), State Vigilante members and youth groups. The exercise was simultaneously replicated across Area Commands in the State to ensure wider engagement.

3. In his address, the CP stated that the National Police Day celebration aimed at community partnership, building trust, creating public awareness and enhancing understanding of the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts toward sustaining peace and security in the State.

4. He emphasized the need for public cooperation and information sharing for effective policing, reassuring participants of unhindered access to the Police. He further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism in maintaining public confidence.

5. The campaign also featured enlightment lectures on electoral violence, its causes and dangers, delivered by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, DCP Onoja Samuel. The State Traffic Officer, CSP Balogun Amarachi, delivered a lecture on the importance of safe driving techniques, while the O/C Medical, ACP Emelike Chinenye, spoke on the medical aspects of safe driving.

6. The campaign concluded with an interactive session during which participants shared observations, asked questions and made valuable contributions geared towards strengthening security collaboration across the State.

REJOINDER

Re: Online Video Circulating on Facebook

1. The Abia State Police Command is aware of a video circulating online alleging the presence and activities of certain groups, as well as insecurity within the state capital, while alleging that authorities have remained silent. This claim is misleading and does not reflect the true security situation in Abia State.

2. From January to date, the Command has recorded significant operational successes in the fight against cultism and related crimes. A total of 13 cult-related cases have been investigated, 23 suspects arrested, arraigned in court and remanded in correctional custody and 32 arms recovered during these operations. Currently, five cult-related cases are also under interrogation. These efforts are part of the Command’s zero-tolerance for cultism and its commitment to sustaining relative peace and security across the state. The State Capital remains safe, peaceful as residents goes about their lawful activities.

3. Leveraging on actionable intelligence, the Command recently apprehended suspects linked to cult clashes at Isi Gate on the 13th and 18th of March. Additionally, another group of suspected cultists were arrested at Orji River Street by Enugu Road, Umuahia in connection with a shooting incident during a cult clash. These arrests form part of the ongoing investigations and they will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of these criminal groups.

4. Proactively, the Command has sustained and intensified its overt operational strategies. These include coordinated stop-and-search operations, robust patrols across divisional areas of responsibility including the deployment of the Anti-Cultism Unit and other tactical teams, as well as continuous intelligence gathering. Furthermore, the Command has officially flagged off the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, which targets primary, secondary and tertiary institutions aimed at combating cultism from the grassroots
across the state.

5. The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, reiterates the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security. The Command remains proactive in curbing crime and urges members of the public to continue their lawful activities without fear. Abians are encouraged to collaborate with the Police as partners in crime prevention by reporting any suspicious persons, groups, or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency lines:
