Vice President Kashim Shettima spent part of his time in Maiduguri, Borno State, participating in community activities that included wedding ceremonies. Among them were the weddings of the daughters of the Managing Director of the North-East Development Commission, Mohammed Alkali, and Nana Abubakar Zulum, the daughter of a brother of Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum.

He was joined by family members, religious leaders, and senior government officials, as prayers were offered for unity and lasting peace in Nigeria, alongside messages of social cohesion, stability, continuity, and the consolidation of peace in the North-East.

Vice President has paid glowing tribute to the late Deaconess Eno Nnana Usoro, mother of Central Bank of Nigeria () Deputy Governor, Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro, describing her as a woman whose life exemplified grace, faith, and service to humanity.

He noted that the late Deaconess’s enduring legacy is evident in the lives of her children, particularly her daughter, the CBN Deputy Governor, whom he described as a mother’s dream fulfilled.

Earlier today, I joined my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting, chaired by President Tinubu, featured discussions on critical issues of national importance, including approvals aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy through local content prioritization and strategic sectoral reforms.

Today’s meeting also witnessed the formal swearing-in of Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), alongside 12 commissioners representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

President Tinubu also administered the oath of office to two new Permanent Secretaries—Mr. Rafiu Olarinre Adeladan (Oyo State) and Dr. Muktar Mohammed (Jigawa State)—to strengthen leadership at the federal civil service level.

In a solemn moment of reflection, the Council observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Dubem Onyia, former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who passed away in March.

Earlier today in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, I launched the state’s National Human Capital Development (HCD) Accelerator Project and the ARISE Human Capital Development Strategy.

Following the launch ceremony, I inspected ongoing work at several ARISE HCD projects, including model primary schools and the ARISE Park—an innovative environmental reclamation project.

In my remarks, I restated the Federal Government’s resolve to position Nigeria among the top 80 countries on the Global Human Capital Index (HCI) by the year 2030.

This goal can be achieved by enhancing the nation’s workforce capabilities and improving socioeconomic outcomes.

I commended the state government for becoming the first to implement the national blueprint across all local government areas.

Every policy or programme that intervenes in the lives of our people can only succeed if it’s rooted in the grassroots. The true wealth of any nation lies in the strength of its human capital: the education of its children, the health of its citizens, and the productivity of its workforce.
