8 BOKO HARAM/ISWAP TERRORISTS ELIMINATED IN MANAWAJI BORNO STATE

At about 5:30pm on 30 June 2025, brave troops of Operation Hadin Kai on joint fighting patrol with elements of Civilian Joint Task Force(CJTF) and Hybrid Forces(HF) made contact with Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists at Manawaji in Gamboru Ngala LGA of Borno State.
Troops successfully attacked and eliminated 8 terrorists during the fierce firefight. Several weapons and ammunition of the dead and fleeing terrorists were also recovered. Own troops, CJTF and HF did not sustain any casualties. The general security situation in the area remains calm but fluid.

Buratai Commends Troops for Repelling Boko Haram Attack in Borno

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (rtd), has commended troops of the Nigerian Army for their gallantry in repelling Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during a recent attack on their location in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

Buratai, accompanied by Maj Gen Bulama Biu, (rtd) former GOC 7 Division, was on a visit to his hometown, made a stop at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Buratai, where he met with troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion and praised their resilience and commitment to the fight against insurgency.

“It was a fulfilling homecoming for me. While in Buratai, I interacted with the gallant troops on the ground who continue to do the nation proud. I commend the Commanding Officer, his officers, and soldiers for their recent exploits in decimating Boko Haram terrorists that attempted to infiltrate their location,” he said.

Buratai urged the troops to maintain the momentum and continue flying the flag high.

He was also received by the Commander of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, and the Commander of 27 Task Force Brigade. He lauded their purposeful leadership and coordination in the field, describing their efforts as commendable and vital to the success of ongoing operations.

The former Army Chief revealed that the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai also reached out to him during the visit. “I equally commended him for the operational leadership he is providing across the theatre,” Buratai stated.

He extended appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede who also contacted him, for his strategic leadership and continued morale-boosting efforts to enhance the performance of troops nationwide.

Report has it they are 81 Battalion soldiers that went for Clearance operation, and they Disappeared with riffle loaded with 60 rounds of Ammunition for over 3 days.

About 20 soldiers were killed in a deadly bandit attack on a military camp near Bangi, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. The attack occurred around dawn, with heavily armed bandits launching a surprise assault on the camp after a sustained gun battle. Several soldiers were also injured in the encounter.

SPECIAL FORCES UNDER OPERATION HADIN KAI ELIMINATE KEY BOKO HARAM/ISWAP LEADER AMIR, ABU FATIMA AND HIS LIEUTENANTS IN KUKAWA BORNO STATE

In a major counter-terrorism success, Special Forces under Operation HADIN KAI conducted a precision strike on 30 May 2025, targeting a key Boko Haram/ISWAP stronghold in the Kukawa axis of Northern Borno State.

The operation, based on credible intelligence, aimed to neutralize Amir Abu Fatima, a notorious terrorist commander who has a ₦100 million bounty on his head.

During the intense exchange of fire, Abu Fatima, was fatally wounded by gunfire. His deputy, several explosives experts, and multiple other terrorists were also eliminated in the confrontation.

Troops recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines, assorted ordnance, and IED-making materials. The mission was completed without casualties on own forces.
