Today, in Maiduguri, His Excellency Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, attended the Wedding Fatiha of Aisha, daughter of Alhaji Mohammed Goni Alkali, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, members of the NEDC management, family, friends, and other well-wishers. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, graciously served as the Wali (guardian) of the bride.

We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) blesses the newlyweds with a marriage filled with love, peace, barakah, and lasting prosperity. Ameen.

The Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, H.E. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, joined the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Senator Kashim Shettima, at a high-level strategic meeting held at the Conference Hall, State House, A*o Rock Villa, Abuja, on 16th July 2026, to receive the visiting Executive Director of UNICEF.

The meeting underscored the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening collaboration with international development partners in advancing inclusive national development, particularly in the areas of child welfare, education, healthcare, nutrition, and community resilience.

The UNICEF Executive Director is in Nigeria on an official working visit to engage with development partners and key government officials, with the objective of deepening existing partnerships and exploring new opportunities for sustainable development interventions across the country.

The Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, H.E. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, attended the Taraba State APC Critical Stakeholders’ Meeting and Dinner hosted by the Executive Governor of Taraba State, H.E. Dr. Agbu Kefas, at the Banquet Hall of the T.Y. Danjuma Government House, Jalingo.

The strategic gathering convened an array of distinguished leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, Federal Commissioners, party executives, former governors, former deputy governors, and other influential stakeholders from across the state.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for reconciliation, renewed engagement, and appreciation of party members and leaders for their unwavering commitment and contributions. It also reinforced the collective resolve of the party to close ranks, strengthen internal cohesion, and foster greater unity ahead of future political engagements and electoral activities.

The gathering underscored the importance of dialogue, inclusiveness, and solidarity in building a stronger and more united APC in Taraba State.

The Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, H.E. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, appeared before the Senate Committee to provide updates on the progress, challenges, and strategic direction of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC).

During his presentation, the Honourable Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the Commission fulfils its mandate of addressing the developmental needs of the North-West through collaboration, institutional stability, and people-centred interventions.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts by the Ministry to strengthen cooperation within the Commission, accelerate its operational take-off, and advance initiatives that promote security, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment, and sustainable regional development.

Effective constitutional democracy thrives on constructive collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature in advancing the collective interests of the nation.

In this spirit, the Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, H.E. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, had the honour of receiving his friend and leader, Distinguished Senator Patrick Chiwuba Ndubueze, F.N.S.E. (Imo North), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works.

Their meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and advocating for increased federal attention to critical road infrastructure across the North East, North West, and North Central geopolitical zones, in line with the Ministry’s mandate of supervising the Regional Development Commissions in these regions.

Particular emphasis was placed on Taraba State, including the long-abandoned Ibi Bridge project and the urgent need for the construction of a new bridge across the River Chinkai to connect Taraba and Nasarawa States, creating a more direct link to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. These strategic infrastructure projects have the potential to unlock economic opportunities, improve regional connectivity, and accelerate development.

Together, through purposeful collaboration, we can build a more connected and prosperous Nigeria.

Yesterday, 7th July 2026, the Honourable Minister of State for the Ministry of Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, led the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mary Adah Ogbe, alongside the Chairman, Managing Director, and Board Members of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), to an interactive engagement with the Senate Committee on the NWDC.

The Committee, chaired by Distinguished Senator Babangida Hussaini (Walin Kazaure), together with its distinguished members, deliberated on strategies to accelerate the effective take-off of the Commission.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of the Executive and Legislature to fostering collaboration, strengthening institutional capacity, and ensuring the efficient management of the Commission in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The HMS MRD, H.E Uba Maigari Ahmadu, accompanied by the HM MRD, Eng. Abubakar Momoh and the PS MRD Dr Mary Ogbeh were in Kano yesterday 2nd of July 2026 for the handing over and commissioning of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) building, graciously provided by H.E. The Executive Gov of Kano State, Eng Abba Kabir Yusuf for the commissions activities.

Also provided for operational support by the Kano state government are 2 nos vehicle, a Toyota Hiace Bus and a Toyota Hilux.

This is all aimed at promoting sustainable regional development as envisaged by H.E President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.

In continuation of the strategic meeting with the leadership of the Regional Development Commissions, the Ministry of Regional Development held a meeting with the MDs of the newly established development commissions earlier today at the Ministers conference room, 11th floor, Federal Secretariat, Abuja.

In attendance were the HM, Hon. Engr Abubakar Momoh, the HMS H.E Uba Maigari Ahmadu, the Perm Sec Dr. Mary Ogbe, Prof Shehu Maaji Abdullahi MD NWDC,Mark Okoye MD SEDC,Dr.Cyril Tsenyi MD NCDC among others Ms.Usoro Akpabio, MD SSDC was unavoidably absent.

Earlier today, the Federal Ministry of Regional Development convened a high-level interactive meeting with the Chairmen of the Regional Development Commissions at the Minister’s Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat Phase I, Abuja.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Honourable Minister of Regional Development; H.E. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development; Chief Emeka Wogu, Chairman of the South East Development Commission (SEDC); Alh. Lawal Samaila Yakawada, Chairman of the North West Development Commission (NWDC); and Dr. Mary Adah Ogbe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, alongside other senior officials.

The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration and addressing strategic development priorities that will enhance the effectiveness of the Regional Development Commissions in delivering sustainable infrastructure, economic growth, and inclusive development across Nigeria.
