Yesterday, I joined the commissioning of the Youth Development Centre in Uruan Local Government Area, executed by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

Represented by the Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission, my dear sister, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, the Governor charged our youths to take advantage of the centre for skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership.

I sincerely commend the Governor for his sustained investment in human capital and youth development. In support of this initiative, I have pledged ₦200 million for youth training and the provision of start-up kits at the centre. I urge our youths to seize this opportunity, make productive use of the facility, and protect it as their own.

I also commend the Executive Chairman of Uruan LGA, Hon. Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong, and other stakeholders for their support for the ARISE Administration. We remain committed to supporting the Governor and the All Progressives Congress as we approach the 2027 general elections.

I am honoured to join fellow parliamentarians from across West Africa at the 2026 second Parliamentary Seminar and second Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Accra, Ghana, held from 21st to 28th September 2026.

The engagement focused on the pressing impact of climate change on environmental degradation, population displacement, and rising insecurity across the ECOWAS region.

We also considered the Parliament’s 2027 Draft Budget, while deliberating on practical regional responses to the challenges confronting our people.

I am proud to contribute Nigeria’s voice to this important conversation and to advocate for policies that strengthen environmental resilience, protect vulnerable communities and promote regional security.

I commend the leadership of the ECOWAS Parliament for the successful organisation of the session.

I was privileged to participate in the 3-Day Technical Workshop on Criminal Prosecution in the Hydrocarbon Sector, organised by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, at Four Points by Sheraton, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

The workshop, themed “Enhancing Judicial Deterrence in the Prosecution and Sentencing of Hydrocarbon Sector Crimes,” was declared open by my brother and colleague, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, Chairman, Senate Committee on Upstream Petroleum Resources.

The workshop is timely and strategic, particularly in strengthening the legal and institutional mechanisms for the effective prosecution of oil theft, pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering. These efforts are critical to enhancing national security through improved inter-agency collaboration and judicial deterrence, plugging revenue leakages, strengthening investor confidence, and creating a safer environment that encourages our youths to pursue legitimate opportunities and sustainable livelihoods in the Niger Delta.

I commend the organisers for this important initiative and impactful collaboration, and I am particularly pleased that Akwa Ibom State was chosen to host this significant engagement.
