ALGON MAKES A BOLD MOVE

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has officially endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. The endorsement was announced during a recent gathering of the association, where members expressed support for the President’s leadership and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening governance and grassroots development across Nigeria.

In the same development, ALGON also announced the suspension of three local government chairmen over allegations of impersonation and misconduct. The association stated that the disciplinary action was necessary to protect the integrity and credibility of the organization.

ALGON MEETS IG OF POLICE

The National President of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Bello Lawal, during an official visit to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between local government authorities and security agencies in addressing pressing national security concerns and improving grassroots governance.

Both leaders were photographed in a formal setting, reflecting a cordial and cooperative engagement between ALGON and the Nigeria Police Force.

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) National Executive Council (NEC) convenes an emergency meeting today under the leadership of the National President, Hon. (Engr.) Bello Lawal.

Purpose:

To urgently deliberate on critical issues affecting local government administration nationwide, assess ongoing programs, and take decisive actions to strengthen service delivery at the grassroots level.

Key Focus Areas:

* Review of pressing national and local governance challenges.

* Coordination with federal, state others stakeholders.

* Implementation status of key initiatives and partnerships.

*Strategic decisions to enhance efficiency and accountability.

Expected Outcome:

Clear resolutions and actionable directives aimed at improving governance, accelerating development efforts, and reinforcing ALGON’s mandate of service to the grassroots.

YOBE STATE COMMENCES PRINTING OF E-BIRTH CERTIFICATES.

The ongoing printing of digital birth certificates under the eBirth registration initiative has officially commenced in Gujba LGA, Yobe State.

This milestone marks a significant step forward in strengthening civil registration and vital statistics, ensuring that every child is properly documented and recognized.

The initiative reflects a strong commitment by ALGON and other stakeholders to improve access to legal identity and essential services across various communities in the rural areas.

The process has been smooth and efficient, with dedicated LGA personnel working to ensure accurate and timely issuance of certificates to beneficiaries.

This development is expected to enhance data accuracy, support national planning, and promote the rights of every child in the state.

*EID-AL-FITRI CELEBRATION: HON ZAKARI ILYIASU FELICITATES MUSLIMS, URGES FAITHFUL TO IMBIBE VIRTUES OF PROPHET MUHAMMED (SWT)*

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Niger State, Hon. Zakari Ilyiasu, has extended warm Eid-al-Fitr greetings to Muslims in Niger State and beyond.

He commended the peaceful conduct of Eid celebrations in the state and expressed gratitude to Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago for his visionary leadership and commitment to the state's progress.

In his message, Hon. Zakari urged Muslims to embody the virtues of Prophet Muhammed (SWT), emphasizing unity, solidarity, and peaceful coexistence among diverse backgrounds. He stressed the importance of good conduct, ethical behavior, and devotion as guiding principles for national development.

As Executive Chairman of Agwara Local Government Area and National Financial Secretary of ALGON, Hon. Zakari prayed for Allah's blessings on the people of Niger State and Nigeria, extending greetings to non-Muslims observing the fasting period. He encouraged Muslims to leverage the gains of Ramadan to pray for peace and unity in the state and country.

Hon. Zakari reaffirmed the unwavering loyalty of the Council members to Governor Bago's administration, acknowledging its commitment to maintaining peace and security amidst challenges.
