PDP will sweep 2019 general elections – Ortom
Published on November 12, 2018 By Wale Odunsi
Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win the 2019 presidential election overwhelmingly.
Ortom stated this on Monday in Makurdi when a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Mr Dave Iorhemba visited him.
“PDP will not only win in Benue but will win majority of the elective positions during the 2019 general elections. The party will also win the presidential election.
“We will support both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Federal Government in order to have credible elections.
“We will also guard against electoral manipulations. Nobody will be allowed to rig election in Benue. We will vote and guard our votes,” he said.
He thanked Iorhemba, for agreeing to step down for him without much pressure from the party leadership, promising to integrate his campaign team into the state PDP main campaign organisation for the overall victory of the party.

Minimum Wage: Atiku urges
Nigerian govt to implement
N30,000
November 7, 2018
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has described the
recent agreement of an increase in minimum wage to
N30,000 as a welcome development.
In a statement signed by his campaign organisation,
Mr Abubakar uged the federal government to
failthfully implement the new proposed minimum
wage.
He said he is committed to a living wage and one of
the pillars of his soon to be launched policy
document is – making workers welfare a priority.
“The Nigerian worker is the goose that lays the
golden egg and is worthy of the best pay that Nigeria
can afford,” the statement highlighted,
“The former vice president commends the patriotism
displayed by the leadership of the Nigerian Labour
Congress and its affiliates in calling off the planned
nationwide strike.”
Mr Abubakar, who had earlier appealed to labour
not to embark on its planned strike, called on the
national assembly to speedily pass a legislation that
makes the new minimum wage a statutory
requirement.
He further called on the Buhari administration to
keep to its word and abide by the new minimum
wage agreement.
He said no sacrifice is too great to ‘Get Nigeria
Working Again’ as that is what his campaign is
about.
“Atiku means JOBS, jobs that would pay the
minimum wage and above because Nigeria should
benefit the masses and not those who are in top
government positions,” the statement noted.
The tripartite committee on the review of the
national minimum wage on Tuesday evening
submitted its report to the president, Muhammadu
Buhari.
The panel, chaired by former Head of Service, Ama
Pepple, recommended N30,000 as the country’s new
national minimum wage.
Submitting the report, Ms Pepple said, “while noting
the offer of N24,000 by government, the panel
recommends N30,000 as the new national minimum
wage of the country.”

*DON'T DOUBT ME*
The Economist’s endorsement
vindicates me, says Atiku
Published October 26, 2018
Olusola Fabiyi , Abuja
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic
Party , Atiku Abubakar , has said that his latest
endorsement by The Economist Magazine , has put to
lies the recent claims made by the Minister of
Information and Culture , Alhaji Lai Mohammed , that
the international media is askance of his ( Atiku’s )
candidature .
Atiku said the newspaper’ s endorsement was the
second having been endorsed by Policy magazine .
The former Vice -President said that the endorsement
was based on the clarity of vision and the detailed
policies of his candidate when compared to what he
called “ the vague and empty promises of the
incumbent All Progressives Congress administration of
President Muhammadu Buhari . ”
Atiku, in a statement from his media office in Abuja
on Friday , said that as ‘the Economist ’ rightly states,
the issues in 2019 are “ popular frustration over the
rise in joblessness and poverty ( two of the biggest
voter concerns ) on Mr . Buhari ’s watch , as well as
growing insecurity in central Nigeria . ”
He added , “ No other candidate has the capacity to
address these challenges , like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ,
under whose watch as Chairman of the National
Council on Privatisation , Nigeria had her highest
growth in job numbers .
“ Indeed , His Excellency , Atiku Abubakar , is poised to
translate the significant success he has made in his
private business empire to the public sector.
“ This anticipation is responsible for the momentum
he now enjoys in all the six geopolitical zones of
Nigeria .
“ For the past one year , Mr. Abubakar has traversed
the length and breadth of Nigeria , selling his plans ,
vision and policies to Nigerians .
“ Unfortunately, rather than do the same , the All
Progressive Congress has focused on negative
campaigning by slandering Mr . Abubakar ’s past .
“ We are not surprised by their actions. When a
man ’s future intimidates people , they focus on lying
about his past because they cannot compete in the
present . However, we thank The Economist for
proving that no matter how far and fast falsehood
has travelled , it must eventually be overtaken by the
truth . ”
Atiku, Obi take campaign to social media
ON October 19, 2018
By Dirisu Yakubu
ABUJA —With less than a month to the commencement of
official campaigns by candidates and political parties for
the 2019 elections, presidential candidate of Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, and his running
mate, Peter Obi, have taken to social media to woo
electorate with sundry promises of what they will do if
elected.
Mr Peter Obi and PDP Presidential candidate,
Atiku
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, following the
ease of tension among South East political heavy weights
occasioned by his emergence as Atiku’s running mate,
seems to have found his groove as he took to twitter,
yesterday, to inform Nigerians of the plan of the PDP on
reducing cost of conducting government business.
Using his official twitter handle , the former
governor wrote: “As Vice President, we will put an end to
first class tickets for government officials, end medical
treatment abroad for them and help Atiku to reduce cost
of governance by 50 per cent in our first year. We did it in
Anambra; we will replicate it in Abuja.”
On his part, Atiku, for the umpteenth time, reiterated his
commitment to job creation if given the opportunity to
preside over the affairs of the nation.
Writing via , the presidential candidate said the
“most effective way to fight crime is to provide
opportunity to create wealth because poverty is
conducive for crime.
“If you elect me as your president, I will equip the
security forces to fight terrorism and crime. Additionally, I
will do what I do best— job creation.”
The two were in the South-East states earlier in the week
to commiserate with victims of flood and made financial
donations to ease the plight of the displaced.
*2019 PRESIDENCY,*
*12 POINTS THAT STAND ATIKU OUT OF THEM ALL.*
*(1)* He owns a University as part of his contributions to educational sector in Nigeria.
*(2)* He invested heavily in agriculture and has employed thousands of Nigerians in his chains of companies.
*(3)* He has blood relationship with the three major tribes in Nigeria
thereby promoting Oneness and Unity of Nigeria
*(4)* He is religious tolerant, being a Muslim but has a lot of Christians from other tribes appointed in sensitive and trusted positions in his organisations
*(5)* He does not believe in nepotism and tribalism but giving opportunities to the suitable and qualified nigerians irrespective of your religious, tribal and family background
*(6)* He is the only one with the mental, financial and Security capacity to rescue Nigeria for the killings and Insecurity, having retired as a Security Chief.
*(7)* He is the only one that can truly and fairly restructure Nigeria, having blood relationship across board.
*(8)* He was Nigeria's former Vice and Acting President, so the experience is there.
*(9)* He is an Entrepreneur who knows the value of investment and so will NEVER allow our Economy to die
*(10)* He is stupendously rich, having made and still making so much money from his investments across the globe, so the appetite to steal is at zero level.
*(11)* He has the Charisma, the experience, the finances and road map to lead Nigeria out of this hardship.
*(12)* God fatherism and gratified corruption are eliminated because he is mentally and financially strong enough to pull through.
None of the candidates contesting with Atiku has all that are stated above.
Nigeria is bleeding profusely from these killings, nepotism, tribalism, starvation and economic down turn, So we can not afford to adopt "try and see" in choosing our leader when a solution provider in the Person of Atiku Abubakar is here.
My fellow compatriots, voting against Atiku is a disservice to Nigeria and our future generation.
*Please save Nigeria by sending this to all your contacts.
*Lets Support ALH. Atiku Abubakar to get Nigeria working again.

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI'S NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS, JANUARY 1, 2017
My dear Compatriots,
I am happy to welcome you to the beginning of a New Year in our beloved country Nigeria.
I felicitate with you today at a time when our nation is witnessing a new and impressive turnaround in our security and socio-economic situation.
I know you will join me to, once again, congratulate the heroic and gallant efforts of our military and other security agencies on their remarkable successes to rid the nation of terrorism.
Following the successful capture of Sambisa Forest, spearheaded by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, we have entered a new phase in our battle against our common enemy, Boko Haram.
When we see our beloved 21 Chibok girls reuniting with their families and community for Christmas, it gives us the hope that those who are still in captivity will one day return to the loving arms of family, friends and well-wishers.
I urge all Nigerians to be on the alert and watch out for strange figures settling in their communities, and report to the nearest security agencies, as our armed forces intensify the pursuit of fleeing terrorists from the captured Sambisa Forest.
Misguided elements who decided to take up arms against constituted authorities must be brought to face the full weight of the law.
The support of all Nigerians to security agencies to enable them successfully execute their mandate is crucial in our bid to effectively secure our country.
Seeing the joyful return of thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to Damasak town in Borno State, following the reopening of Maiduguri/Gubio/Damasak road in Northern Borno on December 25, 2016, reassured us that the voluntary return of IDPs in other parts of the country is imminent.
The Federal Government will spare no effort in seeing to the resettlement and rehabilitation of the unfortunate victims of terrorism and insurgency. I urge state governments, privileged Nigerians, donor agencies and countries to redouble their contributions towards this goal.
Government is aware of some mistakes and wrongdoings in handling the affairs of IDPs. We are taking measures to correct those mistakes and punish the culprits.
In this New Year, I want to reassure all Nigerians that our defence and security forces are more than ever before ready to perform their constitutional role of protecting lives and property in the country; and we will surely overcome all other forms of security challenges.
The lingering security issues in several states will be frontally addressed. These ugly crises cannot be allowed to fester as they strain the unifying bonds of brotherhood and neighbourliness. Some sections of the press and some politicians should avoid provocative and inflammatory statements, while the government is painstakingly trying to find solutions to our challenges.
I want to remind you on the first day of this New Year of an African proverb that says “it is easy to break a broomstick but not a bunch”. Nigeria is a bunch and is more than equal to troublemakers.
I have interacted with a broad spectrum of Nigerians, the old and the young, and they have told me unequivocally that they believe in the unity and stability of Nigeria.
The year 2017 provides an opportunity for us to build on those aspects of our national life that unite us. We are courageous, hardworking, hospitable, steadfast and resilient people, even in the face of difficulties.
These are the attributes that define us and have for years confounded the pessimists who do not believe in our continued existence as a united and indivisible nation. We are a remarkable nation that has succeeded in harnessing our multiple diversities for national development. We must continue to support and tolerate one another and live together as one.
We will continue to pursue peace initiatives in the Niger Delta as I again, call on our brothers in that region who have taken to violent disruptions of economic infrastructure to come to the negotiating table.
As for our brothers and sisters of the Shia Community, we urge them, too, to embrace peace. They must accept the laws of the country they live in. They cannot be islands by themselves. At the same time, the law enforcement agencies must treat them humanely and according to the rule of law.
On our part, in the past 20 months since our inauguration on May 29, 2015, we have focused our energies to turn around the economy, create jobs, fight corruption, and transform agriculture to replace oil and gas as a major revenue earner for the nation. I am encouraged that we are getting things right.
The agricultural revolution has begun. Farmers in different parts of the country are experiencing bumper harvests; states are getting into strategic partnership towards attaining self-sufficiency in rice, and the era of over-dependence on oil for foreign exchange revenues is gradually waning. I am optimistic that the CHANGE we all yearned for in voting this administration to power in 2015 will manifest more and be sustained in different sectors, particularly agriculture, in 2017.
As you may be aware, our economic recovery and growth plan in 2017 is anchored on optimizing the use of local content and empowering local businesses.
In pursuit of this administration’s philosophy, we will continue to appeal that we buy "Made In Nigeria" goods. Like I said during the 2017 Budget presentation to the National Assembly, farmers, small and medium-sized manufacturers, agro-allied businesses, dressmakers, entertainers and technology start-ups, will remain the true drivers of our economic future. They are the engine of our economic recovery and their needs underpin our Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.
On job creation, this administration will sustain existing programmes aimed at lifting a vast number of our youth out of poverty, while at the same time creating the opportunities for people to fend for themselves.
Our determination to wrestle corruption to the ground remains unshaken. This fight, which will be guided by respect for the rule of law and due process, will not spare anybody or organ of government. It is a collective undertaking and resolve that must be seen to its logical conclusion in spite of certain distractions. The fate of our country lies partly in the success of this campaign. It will be unthinkable on my part to allow the boat of this crucial campaign promise capsize mid-stream.
I thank you for the public support for our administration’s efforts to transform Nigeria. I assure you again that the current pains are temporary and will ease when the economic seeds in gestation begin to bloom to fruition. I urge you to continue to support this administration in its effort to transform Nigeria for the good of all.
I wish you a Happy New Year, 2017.
