PUBLIC NOTICE: NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE DISCLAIMS FALSE CLAIMS ON PASSPORT PAYMENT PROCESS
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) wishes to categorically refute misleading reports alleging that its passport application and payment process has been compromised through the involvement of any religious organisation.
The Service wishes to state clearly that these claims are false, misleading, and intended to misinform the public while tarnishing the image of the Service.
The Service operates a secure, transparent, and government-approved passport application and payment system, accessible ONLY through the official NIS portal. At no time has the Nigeria Immigration Service authorised, partnered with, or appointed any religious organisation, private entity, or individual to receive payments or act as an intermediary on its behalf.
The Service strongly warns members of the public to disregard any third-party platforms, links, or individuals claiming to process passport payments outside officially approved channels, as such activities are fraudulent and unauthorised.
The National Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, stated that preliminary investigations are already ongoing to identify the source of the misinformation and appropriate actions will be taken against any person or group found culpable.
The Nigeria Immigration Service remains fully committed to strict compliance with government financial regulations and works only with licensed and accredited payment service providers officially integrated into its system.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC:
All payments for passport services should be made strictly through the official Nigeria Immigration Service platform. Any payment made outside approved channels is done at the payer’s sole risk, and the Service shall not be held liable for any resulting loss or inconvenience.
The public is advised to remain vigilant, avoid unauthorised agents or websites, and rely only on verified communication channels for accurate information and assistance.
