✷A DEAL✷
_______________

Nica nervously fidgeted with her fingers. The weight of what she had done dawned on her.

She shouldn’t have told Klaus that Simon had ordered those men to mess with Morticia. They actually wanted to strip her and take a few indecent pictures.

It was mainly because Dimitri kept pestering Simon to do something about her getting humiliated.

Klaus was going to do something, she knew it. He had always been like that in high school. Always protective of Morticia...

She didn’t even know who was worse between Klaus and Vincent. What if Vincent found out too? Things would get messy. That guy always had a smiley face, but he was dangerous as hell when triggered.

"Oh God," she mumbled. It was 2:00 a.m., and she couldn’t sleep.

The knock on her door made her jerk. She stayed quiet, wondering who had come to her door this early.

The knock came again, followed by a voice that sent a chill down her spine.

She quickly lay on her bed, covering herself with the duvet, her heart racing. Why was he here?

Her door unlocked, and she shut her eyes tightly. He had extra keys to every room in the house, even hers, and she hated that.

Nica lay frozen, her mind wandering about what he was about to do. Soon, she felt his fingers trail beneath the duvet, reaching for her leg.

Her eyes squeezed shut. Oh please, can this stop already?

His hand traveled up to her thigh, and she could feel the weight pressing down on the bed—a clear sign that he was joining her in bed.

Nica muffled her tears, feeling them trickle down her face.

"Please, go away," she whimpered.

"You're awake," he whispered, climbing on top of her, his hands on either side of her.

"Why do you keep doing this? I'm your daughter," she whimpered.

"Not by blood. I told you, you're beautiful, Nica. So beautiful." He reached for her face, and she sobbed. "Don't cry, I'm not hurting you... remember what I told you last time?"

Nica shook her head, her stomach churning. "Get away from me."

"I’ll give you whatever you want. Just let me in..." he whispered.

What the hell?! He has a wife! So why her?!

"I said, get the f**k away from me!" Nica yelled, no longer able to take it.

"Just stay still, you’re going to enjoy it... I'm sure you're not a virgin," he said, and Nica lost it.

"I said, f**k off!" she screamed, her hand swiftly delivering a slap to his face. Nica's eyes went wide at what she had done while Mr. Hanson’s chest rose and fell as anger surged through him.

"Run!" Nica's instinct screamed, and she tried to get away, but he grabbed her hair and yanked it back. As she collapsed onto the bed, he punched her in the face.

Black spots flashed in her vision as her head spun. His lips crashed onto hers, roughly moving against them.

Nica's hand shot out, searching for a weapon to get this monster off her. Fortunately, her lamp was close. She smashed it on his head.

He got off her and cursed. Nica hit him again, over and over, tears streaming down her face. He went still, losing consciousness.

She got off the bed and rushed out of the house, her breaths heavy. As she walked down the street, she knew she was screwed.

The only place she could go was her dorm.

She had noticed Mr. Hanson bleeding, but she didn’t care.

He should die and go to hell.

---

Morticia chuckled at Jamie’s joke. They were both in the library, studying together.

"Shhh," the librarian warned with a hush.

"Oops, sorry," Morticia bit her lip.

"So this friend of yours coming is from India?" Jamie asked, keeping his voice low.

"Yeah, you’re going to love her. She’s sweet, brilliant, crazy, and funny. Gosh, I miss her. Her transfer hasn’t been accepted yet, but I hope they do it soon."

"I’ve met an Indian man once before. He dumped a monkey on my head."

"What?" Morticia chuckled. "A monkey?"

"Yeah, and it was like... ouu aaah Jamie banana," he said in a comical way.

Morticia laughed lightly and cleared her throat when the librarian glanced at them.

"Let’s go, Morty," he said, holding her hand and gently pulling her out of the library.

As they stepped outside, the cool evening breeze brushed against their skin. Their hands were still entwined as they smiled at each other.

They had spent a lot of time together today, and for the first time, Morticia found her attention drawn to the guy beside her... instead of Klaus.

She was doing it. She was finally getting over him. Thanks to Jamie.

"Do you mind watching a movie with me tomorrow? I’ve got a lot of Marvel and anime stacked up... your favorites."

"I’d love to. I wish Rhea were here too; she’s a fan like me," she chuckled.

Jamie glanced at her expression. "She seems like a really nice person. Your face lights up when you talk about her."

"We’ve been friends forever. She’s been my rock since high school."

He nudged her playfully. "Hey, I might get a little jealous if she comes and you spend all your time with her," Jamie teased.

Morticia laughed. "No, it won’t be like that. There’s enough time to go around."

They both stopped, and Jamie faced her, holding her close.

"I guess this is where we part. I wish today didn’t have to end," he sighed.

"Hm. Me too. We’ll see each other tomorrow," she smiled sweetly.

Jamie leaned in, gently pressing his lips to hers. Morticia's eyes closed, the familiar calm feeling washing over her. But this time, as his lips moved...

It triggered a memory.

Klaus's lips on hers, moving against them as he moaned into her mouth.

Morticia gasped and immediately pulled away, her eyes darting with confusion.

What was that just now? Was it real?

"Are you alright?" Jamie's voice snapped her back to reality.

"Huh? I... I’m fine," she stuttered.

"I’m sorry if I offended you... I just—"

"No, no, that’s not it. I... I just feel a little overwhelmed, that’s all," Morticia said, trying to hide the panic in her voice.

"The kiss at the bonfire... Was that your first?" he asked in a calm voice, and she nodded, blushing slightly.

Jamie smiled and kissed her forehead instead. "That’s alright. We have time."

Morticia returned the smile. "Thanks."

Jamie watched her board a bus, then his phone rang. His mother’s name flashed on the screen.

"Hey, Mom," he answered, but his face dropped at the next thing his mother said.

Jamie dashed into the hospital, beads of sweat dripping down his face, a clear sign he had rushed his way there.

"Mr. Hanson?" he asked the nurse at the front desk, who gave him the ward number where his father was.

When he arrived, he found his mother sobbing, and his father lay on the hospital bed with a bandage wrapped around his head.

"What happened?" His voice was disturbed.

"I don’t know... I just found him this morning, bleeding from his head in Nica’s room."

"Nica?" He looked around. That’s right, where was she?

"Yes, I couldn’t find her. I don’t know what happened, but I’m sure she knows something."

The doctor came in at that moment.

"How’s my father?" Jamie asked, his breath a bit ragged.

"He’s fine. The cut is slightly deep, but he’ll recover soon with regular treatment."

Jamie sighed in relief and glanced over at his father.

What the hell happened?

___

"Why did you do that?" Vincent questioned the cold guy, who was pulling out some drinks.

"You don't need to know," Klaus replied, reaching for the cups as well.

"I don't need to know why you beat up Simon and almost killed two men? I know you did it for a reason, so tell me."

"Since you know I did it for a reason, let it slide," Klaus shrugged, placing the drinks on the table before turning on the television.

Vincent's eyes stayed fixed on his stubborn friend. "Since when did you start keeping things from me?"

"Friends have limits on what they can tell each other," Klaus mumbled, opening the box of pizza on the table.

"Friends? We're brothers, sinful motherf**ker... brothers."

"Siblings have limits too," Klaus said, taking a bite. "You didn’t tell me you slept with Vivian, so we're even."

"That was high school, and this isn't about girls. You hit Simon, and the fact that you're avoiding telling me means it involves me."

"No, it doesn't. We cool?" Klaus lied. It was better if Vincent didn’t know.

Vincent's anger was hell, especially when it came to Morticia. You didn’t want to see the devil lurking behind those charming smiles. He would kill Simon, and that would cause a big problem. Vincent's actions were impulsive.

"No!" Vincent snapped.

"Take a slice of pizza, drink, and sleep. You'll be cool."

"F**k you, Sin," Vincent finally gave up.

---

A kiss with Klaus? That had to be a dream, right?

Even if she had kissed Klaus, he would never kiss her back. There was no way that was real.

Morticia shook her head. She was trying so hard to focus on reading, but the thought kept lingering in her mind.

She sighed and shut her book. Her eyes settled on Valerie, who was busy with her phone as usual.

"Hey, Valerie."

Valerie met her gaze, her expression blank, but Morticia was used to her mean aura.

"I just wanted to ask, how's your sister, Sienna? I heard she was sick."

"Sick?" Valerie questioned, seeming not to know about her sister’s health issue. What she said next shocked Morticia.

"That's great news. I hope she doesn’t recover." After her words, Valerie returned her gaze to her phone.

"That’s so cruel. Why do you hate her so much?" Morticia couldn't help but ask.

"Why do you want to know?"

"Because she's my brother's girlfriend, and she seems nice," Morticia replied.

"Yeah, she’s the nicest person on earth," sarcasm laced in Valerie's voice.

Morticia shook her head and pulled out her diary, writing about her experiences—her moments with Jamie, and how they shared their second kiss.

But once again, the thought of kissing Klaus crossed her mind. She needed to talk to him.

---

Dimitri watched Simon smoking angrily, his gaze dark. There was a bandage on his forehead and nose.

"I'm gonna kill him," Simon mumbled, his chest heaving with rage.

"He's your strongest man, Simon. You can't kill Sin, and you know that," Dimitri said.

"He disrespected me. No one disrespects me and gets away with it. And this is all your fault."

"You should’ve been careful. You should’ve sent better men to deal with her," Dimitri rolled her eyes. "Leave Sin out of this. If you hurt him, you're hurting me too."

"Those men were good. Someone among us snitched and told Klaus. What the hell do you need that nerd's n**e for anyway?" Simon asked, gazing up at her.

"I wanted her to pay. Sin had ordered a hit on me because of her. I told you already. He's so protective of her. I want Sin for myself."

She continued, "I guess we should lay low for now, since she’s always around Sin and Vincent."

"Whatever... but first, I need to know who told Sin."

---

It was the weekend, and when Morticia returned home, Vincent and Ava weren’t there.

Vincent had gone for dance practice, and Ava was at an interview.

Morticia stared at her mother's beautiful smile on the television as she answered questions from the host. Switching off the TV, she wondered if Klaus was around.

Wearing her pink hoodie, she headed toward the fourth building across the street. The familiar security man greeted her and let her in.

"Is Klaus home?"

"Yes, he is," he replied politely.

The house was simple, yet luxurious and comfortable. It had a swimming pool, a small hut for drinking, and a garden. It was beautiful in full light.

Morticia knocked lightly on the door.

"Come in," Klaus’s nasal voice called from inside.

He was playing a video game, shirtless, with a headset on and his hair messy. The ring on his lip was tucked between his teeth as he focused on the screen.

"S**t," he cursed as he lost the game. His eyes went to her and then back to the screen.

"Hey, Bunnie, what’s up?"

Morticia hesitated. "C-can we talk?"

"Talk about what?" His voice was husky.

"A-about that night."

His eyes stayed on his game. "What about it?"

Morticia wanted to drop the subject because of his attitude. If something had happened that night, he should have shown a sign at least... but still, she wanted clarity.

"Did something happen... between us?"

Klaus finally paused and looked up at her, his expression unreadable.

"You should leave, Bunnie."

"Why?"

"Why are you hesitating to say it?" He threw the question back at her.

Morticia bit her lip. What if she was wrong? That would be so embarrassing.

"Never mind," she turned to leave, but his next words made her stop.

"Are you talking about the kiss?"

Morticia's eyes widened. It happened. Klaus and she had shared a kiss!

She slowly turned to face him. He approached her, each step making her heart race.

"You remember," he mumbled, his voice making her skin tingle. His gaze was sharp, and it was hard for her to predict what was going on in his head.

"I... I do, and... that was wrong," her voice returned to its firm tone as her eyes locked with his.

"Wrong?"

"I have a boyfriend."

"The wimp."

Morticia glared. "He's not a wimp, and whatever happened between us was a mistake. I was drunk, and you shouldn’t have done that."

"Yeah, I shouldn’t have done that. But you could’ve ignored it, and you didn’t. Besides—" he took a step forward, closing the distance between them.

He leaned close and whispered, "You kissed me first, Bunnie."

His intense gaze sent goosebumps all over her. His amazing cologne filled her nose, and she secretly inhaled more.

"I was drunk."

He chuckled. "People are mostly their true selves when they're drunk. Did I really hurt you? How? When? Where?"

Morticia tried to control her breathing. His closeness was affecting her. She had never felt this way around Jamie.

Yeah, she had Jamie... this was wrong.

"Like I said. I was drunk."

His lips curled up slightly, his tongue rolling over the ring on his lower lip.

"Here’s the deal. You leave through the door right now, we’ll forget all of this and get back to our lives. But if you stay—" he paused, his gaze intense.

"...I’ll kiss you again, and you’ll know the reason why I’m called Sin."

✷I LIED✷
_______________

After a long while, Morticia left his home for school. Klaus received a message from one of his people saying Morticia might be in trouble.

Cursing, he drove straight to the school to find her. He spotted Valerie, her roommate, and asked about Morticia's whereabouts. Valerie tried to shrug him off, but he was persistent.

"She left in a hurry, probably pressed for something."

Klaus rushed to the nearby restroom and spotted a familiar feminine figure. She fidgeted at the sight of him, and he immediately knew Bunnie was there.

Grabbing her by the collar, he roared, "Where the f**k is she?"

Morticia's scream caught his attention, and he immediately dashed into the restroom to help.

As Morticia attacked the guy again, Klaus’s eyes widened.

"Bunnie!"

Klaus pulled her away from the guy and snapped at her. "Stop it, you could get hurt!"

The guy finally opened his eyes and swung the knife at Klaus.

"Watch out!" Morticia yelled.

With a swift move, Klaus spun to grab the guy's hand holding the dagger. He twisted the man's wrist, and a sickening crack pierced the air, followed by the guy's scream.

The knife slipped from his hand, and Klaus caught it. He considered stabbing the guy’s hand into the wall, but the thought of Morticia watching shattered that impulse.

He couldn’t get brutal with her there.

He hissed and punched the guy hard in the face.

Morticia's chest heaved. She quickly took out her inhaler and took a few breaths. Closing her eyes, she felt much better.

Later, Klaus and Morticia stepped out of police custody. Klaus looked like someone trying hard to control his anger.

"Thanks, Klaus," Morticia said, adjusting her glasses.

"You're welcome."

"I was wondering how you found me." She blinked with curiosity.

"Does it matter?"

"Yes, it does. Did you follow me to school? How did you know I was in trouble?"

"I..." Klaus quickly thought of an excuse. "I wanted to apologize for acting like a jerk this morning and thank you for staying by my side. So I asked your roommate, Valerie, where you were and then heard your scream in the restroom."

Way to go, Klaus... You're such a good liar.

"Oh... well, I was mad at you, but I guess we're even now."

Klaus scrutinized her and asked softly, "Are you alright?"

She hesitated, battling with her feelings. "Yes... I guess."

"Cool. I need to be somewhere. Take care, Bunnie." He ruffled her hair and left, while Morticia fell into her own thoughts.

She glanced down at her slightly torn dress and sighed.

Was she really okay? That had terrified her.

---

"Indian pig!"

"Look at her, so disgusting!"

"Pig!"

"Pig!"

"We hate you, get the f**k out!"

Rhea je**ed as the orange hit her back. Her eyes shut as she faced her locker. Her basketball teammates had ruined the clothes she was supposed to change into.

With teary eyes, she held her clothes tightly, her heart clenching hard.

She thought she could handle this, but it was getting out of hand.

Lecturers and school authorities wouldn’t do a thing. Changing schools wasn’t an option since this was the only one her father could afford.

But the humiliation, the hate, and the abusive words thrown at her were unbearable.

She knew if she kept going like this, she might lash out and end up getting expelled.

That would mean no chance of getting into another college.

Rhea slammed her locker shut and stormed out in tears. She climbed onto her bike and rode straight home.

She noticed a strange black car leaving their house but ignored it and walked inside. Her father was sitting on the couch with a file in his hand.

"Papa!" she called, walking toward him. "Papa, I can’t go to that school anymore. They keep bullying me. It’s better if I stay home and work to..."

Her voice trailed off when she saw his face. He was crying.

"Papa, why are you crying?" Her voice softened, concern etched on her face.

"Oh no, sweetie, it’s not something bad," he stood with the file. "I... I got the contract. The one my company dared to go for."

Rhea’s eyes widened. "Really? The five-billion-dollar contract? You got it?"

"Yeah, and they paid me half already."

They stared at each other and screamed in unison. He picked her up and twirled her around while she swayed her upper body, dancing.

"We’re rich! We’re f**king rich!" she screamed.

Her father set her down. "What were you saying about your school again?"

"I get bullied every day, Papa."

His eyes finally noticed she was wearing her jersey instead of her usual dress. Even the jersey was stained, and her face showed dried tears.

"You know what? You’re not going to that school anymore. Since we’re better off now... you’re transferring to Washington, the school you wanted to go to..."

Rhea jumped and hugged him before he could finish. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I can finally be with Morticia! Oh my God, I missed her so much!"

"Anything for you, babygirl."

"Papa, first... I need to do something. I’ll be right back."

Rhea went back to the dorm to pack a few important things. Thankfully, her roommates weren’t around.

She had bought ammonia on her way, and she poured it on her roommates' clothes and beds. After she was done, she left.

Her two roommates returned and screamed in horror as soon as they opened the door.

"What the f**k is that smell? This is horrible!"

"Where the f**k is Rhea? Did she p*e all over the house or something?"

Their eyes snapped to a piece of paper glued to the wall with Rhea’s bold writing:

SO LONG, COCKSUCKERS!!!

"Ah! That f**king bitch!"

---

"Ahhh!!!"

Morticia’s scream pierced the air as she rushed downstairs.

Ava je**ed at the sound, almost spilling the popcorn in her hands.

"What is it?" Ava asked.

"Guess what!"

"You have a boyfriend now?!"

"Huh.. what no? No, that's not it!... Rhea is coming to Washington!"

"Oh." Ava blinked, not much excitement in her voice.

"What do you mean, 'Oh'? Aren't you happy for me?"

"I am, sweetie," Ava said, munching on her popcorn. "It seems like you don’t like your new roommate. You never talk about her."

Morticia hesitated. "Uh, she’s cool... she’s Sienna’s sister. Valerie."

Vincent, who was coming down the stairs, choked on his saliva. "Did you just say Valerie?"

"Yeah?"

"And you just called her cool? Wait... how are you even alive?" Vincent blinked, and Morticia rolled her eyes.

"Is she not a good person? Tell me," Ava panicked.

Morticia pretended to glance at her wrist. "Oh, I’m late for class."

"Morticia!" her mother called after her, but she didn’t stop.

At school, Morticia met Jamie. He was finally at school. He removed his bag and let her sit beside him.

"What happened? I’ve been trying to reach you," she inquired.

"I’m sorry. My phone had issues, and my dad returned home yesterday after several weeks on a business trip... I’m sorry," Jamie said.

"It’s fine. I’m just glad you’re alright."

"Care to have lunch later?"

"Yeah," Morticia nodded.

"Cool"
__

While the lecture was going on, Klaus continued researching whoever had sent those goons to hurt Morticia. He was coming up with nothing.

ā€œYoung man at the back, do you mind putting your phone down?ā€ the female lecturer, Mrs. Sally, asked.

Klaus, unaware she was addressing him, continued using his phone.

ā€œYoung man, I’m speaking to you,ā€ she said again.

Klaus finally looked up, locking eyes with the lecturer. The room became tense.

ā€œWhy?ā€ His nasal voice rang out from the back.

Some girls bit their lips. This was Klaus's first appearance in class this semester. They had all missed his good looks and voice.

ā€œBecause it isn’t proper to be on your phone while I’m teaching,ā€ Mrs. Sally replied. She was clearly a new lecturer, unfamiliar with who Klaus was.

ā€œThen why are you teaching? Since it isn’t proper, maybe you should stop while I’m on my phone.ā€

Mrs. Sally exhaled, struggling to contain her anger.

"This is a lecture room. I suggest you leave if you really need to use your phone"

ā€œLeave? Am I doing something wrong? I’m not having s*x in class, distracting everyone with a girl’s moans. Mrs. Sally, I’m a nice person… if you want me to be.ā€

The room fell silent, so quiet one could hear a pin drop.

Dimitri smiled, feeling impressed by Klaus’s boldness, while Nica shook her head.

Klaus was stubborn and intimidating, even the lecturers didn’t mess with him.

Despite that, he was the best student in his year. Nica could only hope Mrs. Sally would let this slide.

Mrs. Sally turned to the board to continue, while Klaus returned his cold gaze to his phone.

ā€œKlaus, you alright? You seem to be in a bad mood,ā€ Dimitri asked as they left the class.

ā€œI’m fine.ā€

ā€œLet’s go get lunch. Nica, are you coming?ā€ Dimitri asked.

ā€œUh… no. I have to go home right after class,ā€ Nica replied. Her father had her class schedule and promised to punish her if she got home late.

Worst, by beating her or throwing her out on the street.

This made her heart clenched so hard.

---

Jamie looked a bit nervous, and Morticia noticed. She was nervous too, wondering what was going through his mind.

ā€œUhmm… I was wondering if… if you could go out with me,ā€ he finally said, and Morticia froze.

She had expected this but still felt her heart race.

Before she could respond, Klaus’s voice rang from behind.

ā€œBunnie.ā€

Morticia turned to see Klaus, Dimitri, and the purple-haired girl from the party approaching. Why were they here all of a sudden?

Klaus sat beside her, his cold eyes locking onto Jamie, who looked confused as to what he had done.

ā€œLong time no see, Jamie,ā€ Klaus smiled, and Morticia sighed, glancing at Dimitri, who smirked.

ā€œNot really, Klaus, but it’s good to see you.ā€

ā€œAre you two boyfriend and girlfriend?ā€ Dimitri asked.

ā€œUhā€¦ā€ Morticia looked at Jamie, who seemed curious too. ā€œYeah, actually, he just asked me out, and I’ve said yes.ā€

Klaus's head snapped toward her. ā€œWhat?ā€

"Yeah, we’re officially dating and have somewhere to be right now." She stood to leave with a knowing smile.

ā€œExcuse me,ā€ Jamie said as he stood and left with her, leaving Klaus staring into space.

ā€œThat’s great news, right, Sin?ā€ Dimitri asked, but Klaus didn’t reply and just continued staring into space.

---

ā€œAre you sure you’re okay going out? I mean, you’re not fully healed yet,ā€ Vincent said as Sienna prepared for work tomorrow.

ā€œI’m fine. Besides, you’re missing class because of me, and I don’t feel good about it.ā€

ā€œThat’s nothing to worry aboutā€¦ā€

ā€œWhat about your dance practice? You missed it yesterday because of me,ā€ Sienna said.

ā€œButā€”ā€ Vincent began, but Sienna kissed him.

ā€œStop it, Vincent. I don’t want to hold you back from what’s important. You said your mom called for your help at a night event. Please, babe, I’ll be fine. I promise.ā€

She was right; he had barely been around lately because of her health. He loved her.

Vincent finally gave in. ā€œAlright then.ā€

ā€œThank you, babe. I love you.ā€ She kissed him and watched him leave.

As soon as the door closed, Sienna’s expression changed.

ā€œGosh, he’s always around,ā€ she hissed, pulling out her phone to text someone.

The reply came almost instantly.

Sienna bit her lip with a smile.

---

Later that night, Klaus stepped into Morticia’s apartment. Vincent had asked him to check on her since he was busy helping Ava with her evening event.

Vincent had tried calling Morticia, but she wasn’t picking up.

Why was he always around Morticia lately? He had planned to stay away from her but kept failing.

The door was open, so she was likely home. Was she too busy messing around with her new boyfriend to answer the phone?

The thought made him grit his teeth. One kiss, and she considered the guy her boyfriend? Was she that desperate?

ā€œBunnie?ā€ he called, but there was no response.

Had someone attacked her again?

He rushed upstairs and slammed her door open.

The sight that met him was completely different.

Her face was red, her hair a mess, and she was holding a bottle.

"What are you doing? Are you drinking?" he asked, snatching the bottle away from her. He then noticed her tears.

"Are you crying?" His voice softened. ā€œWhat’s wrong? Did someone hurt you?ā€

ā€œI… I lied,ā€ she croaked, her eyes welling up. ā€œI lied at school. I can still feel their hands on me. I’m not okay.ā€

Klaus’s expression fell. She wasn’t over the attack. Damn, how could he have been so stupid to think she was fine?

Morticia was soft, sometimes crazy, but she was really good at hiding her pain.

Right now, he felt like going and killing those goons. He had them in custody, and they’d both confessed to being sent by an unknown person.

That person’s identity was still a mystery, which is why he kept searching for the culprit.

He had a suspect, but he didn’t want to jump to conclusions.

ā€œIt’s okay, Bunnie. It’s alright,ā€ he said, wiping her tears with his thumb.

ā€œNo, it’s not. I’m frustrated… I… I miss my dad,ā€ she sobbed. ā€œToday marks five years since he’s been gone. Mom and Vincent aren’t here, and they probably don’t even care… I miss him so much, Klaus. It haunts me. The fire andā€”ā€

ā€œHey, don’t think about it.ā€

ā€œI want to drink some more… just a little. It distracts me from my crazy thoughts… please,ā€ she said, standing up and trying to grab the bottle from him.

ā€œNo, you can’t drink. Where did you even get this?ā€

ā€œPlease, just give it to me.ā€

ā€œNo.ā€

ā€œNo? Why not? Stop acting like my brother, which you’re not. You’re just a bonehead who keeps hurting me without even realizing it!ā€ she snapped, and Klaus looked confused.

ā€œWhat?ā€

ā€œI hate that you’re always in my head. It hurts!ā€

She sniffled and swept her hair back, her eyes drowsy as she almost fell. Klaus was quick to catch her, but they both lost balance and fell onto the bed.

Their chests pressed together, faces inches apart, breath mingling as their eyes locked. Silence fell between them.

ā€œBunnieā€¦ā€
