The Africa International Film Festival - Afriff connects U.S. and Nigerian filmmakers with new markets and expands two-way trade and investment in film.

At the unveiling of the festival’s 15th edition, “Frames of the Future: Africa’s Creative Intelligence,” Consul General Hudspeth announced that U.S. film envoys Angel Kristi Williams and Charles Kirby will lead directing and cinematography workshops for Nigerian filmmakers. This is the 11th straight year of U.S. mission support for AFRIFF this November.

in 1999, Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright visited Nigeria and met with President Olusegun Obasanjo and other senior Nigerian officials at an important moment in United States-Nigeria relations.

The visit advanced practical cooperation on trade and investment, education, public health, and regional security. Today, the United States continues to engage Nigeria on shared priorities including expanding commercial opportunities, strengthening security cooperation, protecting religious freedom, and advancing regional peace and stability.

According to the Nigerian Ministry of Health, the individual traveled by air from Uganda. Ebola is a rare, severe, and often fatal hemorrhagic fever illness. Congratulations to U.S. exchange alumna Feranmi Abiola, joint winner of the 2026 Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts for her documentary, Mara Mania!

Feranmi honed her filmmaking and storytelling skills during the year-long Community College Initiative at Sinclair Community College, Ohio. She is one of more than 14,000 Nigerian alumni of U.S. government exchange programs making an impact across sectors, including Nigeria’s creative industries.
