The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp attended the 2026 Ministry of Interior Performance Management Retreat alongside Heads of Agencies and senior officials held at Nigeria Army Conference Centre and Suites (NACCAS), Asokoro, Abuja on the 7th, March,2026.

In his closing remarks, the Minister of Interior, Hon Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo urged the Agency Heads to redouble their efforts in delivering their mandates to meet both the administrative and security needs of Nigerians. The Honourable Minister further noted that the past year recorded improvements in Border governance, faster emergency response operations and reforms in custodial administration must not breed complacency as the Ministry geared towards improved performance in 2026.

The day’s highlight was Heads of Agencies including Nigeria Immigration Service, signing the 2026 Performance Bond with the Hon. Minister.
Nigeria Immigration Service topped the 2025 Performance rankings, wrapping up the three-day event.

Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to enhancing Nigeria’s Border Governance, improving Migration Management and continuous application of technology to drive its key reform areas.

NIS MARKS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, AS GENDER MAINSTREAMING BECOMES ONE ITS KEY PILLARS.

The Nigeria Immigration Service held a commemorative event to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), on 6th March 2026 at the Service Headquarters, Abuja. The event’s theme was “Rights. Justice. Action: Strengthening Gender Mainstreaming in the Nigeria Immigration Service.”.”

The commemoration brought together participants from the Ministry of Interior, Security Agencies, the Immigration Officers’ Wives Association (IMMOWA), and development partners of the Service, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing gender equality and strengthening the protection of the rights of women and girls.

The event also featured goodwill messages by Ministry of Interior, Security Agencies, NIS development partners and presentations by guest speakers from UN Women and International Centre for Migration Policy Development, who shared insights on advancing gender equality, justice, and inclusive participation within institutions.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, led Directorate Heads of the Service to participate in the Ministry of Interior’s 2026 Sectoral Retreat for the Ministry and its agencies which runs from Wednesday 4th to Saturday 8th of March 2026.

The Retreat, themed “Accountable Leadership, Measurable Impact: Reviewing Results, Renewing Commitments,” brought together Heads of Agencies and senior officials of the Ministry to review institutional performance, strengthen collaboration and align strategies for improved Service Delivery for the year across the Ministry and its agencies.

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, formally declared the retreat open and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to accountable, citizen-centred leadership and measurable results in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, delivered the welcome address.

Nigeria Immigration Service’s participation underscores it’s commitment to strengthening Border governance, enhancing Migration Management, and leveraging technology-driven reforms to deliver efficient, secure, and citizen-focused immigration services in support of national development.

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, received the National Working Committee of the African Borderland Research Network, led by its Chair, Dr. Willie Eselebor, during a working visit to the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

The engagement explored opportunities for knowledge exchange and capacity building in support of effective migration and border administration, research collaboration, data-driven policy development, and strategies for strengthening Border Management frameworks across the African region.

The CGI appreciated the delegation’s visit and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to partnerships with academia to enhance decision-making and promote secure, orderly, and well-managed borders.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration Service, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, received a delegation from the British High Commission, Abuja, led by the Justice and Home Affairs Adviser, Ms. Sorrel Evans, during a working visit yesterday to the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and the United Kingdom in the areas of migrant returns and reintegration, bilateral visa agreements, migration management, and efforts toward curbing organised immigration crimes.

The Comptroller-General appreciated the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to deepening cooperation in advancing effective migration governance and bilateral relations between both countries.

NIS, ICMPD, NETHERLANDS GOVERNMENT INAUGURATE MOBILE TEAMS PROJECT STEERING COMMITTEE

The Nigeria Immigration Service, in partnership with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and supported by the Government of the Netherlands, on Tuesday 17 February 2026, launched the Mobile Teams (MT) Nigeria Project Steering Committee (PSC) at the Service Headquarters in Abuja. This marks the start of a strategic initiative to boost Nigeria’s Border Security and Migration Management systems.

The Project Steering Committee is the highest governance and oversight body for the MT Nigeria Project. It is responsible for providing strategic direction, reviewing and approving work plans, ensuring accountability, and facilitating coordination among relevant stakeholders to guarantee the effective implementation and achievement of the project’s objectives.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, represented during occasion by DCG FU Nwanneka, mni, PhD of Visa and Residency Directorate, described the inauguration as a significant milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s Border Security. She commended the Government of the Netherlands for its sustained partnership and support to the Service, noting that Nigeria’s vast land and maritime borders require modern tools, improved surveillance, and enhanced operational mobility to effectively address irregular migration, transnational crimes, and emerging security threats. The CGI further acknowledged ICMPD’s professionalism and commitment to human rights standards, emphasizing that the MT Nigeria Project will significantly boost the Service’s patrol and rapid response capabilities across Nigeria’s border corridors.
