HONOURABLE MINISTER OF STATE WORKS AND HOUSING PROGRESS TOUR OF FHA MASS HOUSING ESTATE IN ZUBA
The honourable Minister of State of Works and Housing, Mu,azu Jaji Sambo, Thursday 23rd June , 2022 paid a progress visit to FHA Mass Housing Estate site in Zuba, Abuja Federal Capital Territory. The visit was to ascertain the level of completion of the estate, in readiness for the commissioning.The Minister was taken round the estate by the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Federal Housing Authority, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, in the company of the Authority’s Executive Director Project Implementation, Engr. Sam Chinonso Omoke and other staff.
The Minister inspected the nine remaining blocks of flats that are at various stages of completion. The breakdown of the blocks awaiting completion shows 1 Block of 2 Bedroom Flat at plastering and fixing of windows stage, 7 Blocks of 1 Bedroom, at fixing of doors, tilling and external works stage.
During the inspection, minister however observed he need for adjustments in the external finishing in some blocks. He also observed that the trees planted in the estate are still at the nursery stages. He therefore advised that henceforth, efforts should be made to plant trees at sites as soon as construction is started, so that the trees could grow as the project progresses.
The Honourable Minister called on Management to come up with the exact quantity of work remaining to be put in the estate, which will determine the actual time for the final completion of the project.

MD/CE PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF
- CALLS FOR SYNERGY WITH THE NIGERIAN NAVY
The Managing Director and Chief Executive, Senator Gbenga Ashafa Wednesday, 16th March, 2022, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo. Senator Ashafa used the visit to call for an increased synergy between FHA and the Nigerian Navy.
Addressing the Chief of Naval Staff, in his office, the MD/CE traced the long - standing cordial relationship between Federal Housing Authority and the Nigerian Navy, to the early 1980s, when the Navy acquired some houses at FHA estates in Gowon Estate; Ipaja , FESTAC town all in Lagos, and Gwarinpa 11 estate, Abuja.

Senator Ashafa noted that it is the same good relationship that has made FHA to offer her estate at Yenegoa; Bayelsa State to the Navy. While calling for the forging of a more robust relationship between the two organisations for mutual benefit, the MD/CE called for the intervention of the CNS in resolving the issue of outstanding payment of Premium and Ground rents by the Navy in Gowon Estate, Ipaja, Lagos.
In his response, the Chief of Naval Staff, thanked the management for the visit.

He expressed the favourable disposition of the Navy to partnering with FHA in provision of housing, especially in acquiring the estate in Yenegoa.
For the resolution of the issues on Premium and Ground rent in Gowon Estate, Ipaja, a committee to be headed by the Executive Director Housing Finance, Adama Kure, was put in place.

In the MD/CE’S team were the Executive Directors, Estate Services, Hauwa Babakobi, her Housing Finance counterpart, Adama Kure, The Managing Director FHA Mortgage Bank, Awuual Hayatudeen, the General Manager Finance, Jonah Saidu, General Manager, Housing Programme /(SA Tech to the MD/CE); Arc Adamu Tanimu, General Manager Property Management; Ibrahim Dang, and other staff.

*DIGITIZATION AND AUTOMATION OF FHA SET TO TAKE OFF:*

The full digitization and automation of the operations of the Federal Housing Authority is set to commence in earnest. This followed a meeting held on February 17, 2022, between the Authority and the vendors selected to handle the project. The meeting, according to the General Manager Procurement, ICT and General Duties, Tom Anetor, was called for the vendors to know themselves, acquaint themselves and form a synergy that would make their work seamless. Mr. Anetor also called on the vendors to be at their best in handling the projects.

The five vendors selected after all due procurement processes and relevant BPP approvals are:

Triune Built-Tech Solutions Limited

Quomodo Systems Limited.

CSDC Consultancy Limited.

Estuary Business Solutions Limited (EBS)

Tavia Technologies Limited

CSDC Consultancy Limited will be handling the Automation process and all Electronic Enterprise.  EBS will be in charge of Need Assessment, Feasibility Studies and the Network Infrastructure. Tavia Technologies will be collating FHA data on a GIS, while Triune Built-Tech Solutions Limited will be the overall Project Managers.

The Management of Gbenga Ashafa on assumption of office had taken the Digitization and Automation of the Authority’s operations as a top priority.

MINISTER OF STATE FOR WORKS AND HOUSING VISITS FHA - pledges Ministry’s support for FHA’s Mandates

The Minister of State for Housing, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Muazu Jaji Sambo, Thursday, February 10, 2022, paid a working visit to Federal Housing Authority, where he pledged the support of the Ministry in ensuring that the authority achieved its housing-provision mandate. Alhaji Muazu Jaji Sambo also seized the opportunity to take a tour of some of the Housing Estates being constructed by the Authority within the FCT.

In his welcome remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive, Senator Gbenga Ashafa thanked the Honourable Minister of State for finding it expedient to make the historic visit to the Authority, not long after he was appointed.

He expressed the gratitude of both the Board, Mangement and staff of the Authority, to President Muhammadu Buhari, for the quality of technocrats appointed to lead the Ministry. The appointments starting from the Honourable minister, his Excellency Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, and the Honourable minister of State had positively reflected on the fortunes of the Authority he said.

The MD was also grateful to Mr President for the robust Board of Directors he appointed for FHA, under the Chairmanship of Senator Lawal Shuaibu and the creation of three more Directorates which had already impacted on the operational efficiency of the Authority.

Senator Ashafa, seized the opportunity to apprise the Minister of the progress of various housing projects which the Authority had embarked upon and the Authority’s plans for 2022. He thereafter invited the Executive Directors who briefed the Honourable Minister on the progress and challenges in the Authority.

FHA TOWN HALL MEETING.
- MD/CE Adcocates attitudinal change.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive,Senator Gbenga Ashafa has called on the staff of the Authority for attitudinal change in this new year, in the quest to turn FHA into a 5 star agency. He made this call
Wednesday, January 26th, 2022 during the first Town Hall meeting for the year at the Authority's head office, Abuja.
Senator Ashafa used the Town Hall meeting to review the activities of the past year, project and set the goal for this year as well applauded all the efforts of staff in the past year.
In commending all the staff for their efforts in the new positive status of the Authority, the MD was full of gratitude to the Chairman Board of Directors, Senator Lawal Shuaibu and the entire Board, for their insightful direction, relentless efforts and total support to management. He also appreciated the new Executive Directors for their harmonious attitude and good working relationship. He noted that all these culminated to the progress recorded so far, that has led to prompt payments of remunerations and emoluments.
The Chief Executive however admonished staff to eschew certain undesirable work attitude and embrace diligence and discipline on duty post. He also noted that management will be introducing reward system for outstanding performances.
The MD informed the meeting that management has taken all necessary steps for the completion of the remaining 9 blocks of houses on Zuba, and that the commissioning is expected very
soon. He also announced that the Bwari Mass housing project is ready for commencement, noting that such projects will be replicated in all the zones.
In his remarks, the branch president of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) Comrade Engr. Yakubu thanked management for the sustained peace and industrial harmony being witnessed in the Authority. He particularly thanked them for the prompt payment of both the 13th month and Furniture allowances. He used the opportunity to call on staff to get more committed to duties as a reciprocal measure, calling on all relevant departments to double their efforts.

KEBBI STATE WORKERS TO BENEFIT FROM FHA AFFORDABLE HOUSES.

It is good tidings for workers and residents in Kebbi state as the Federal Housing Authority is to commence construction of affordable houses in the state.

This was revealed by the Authority's Managing Director and Chief Executive, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, during the handing over ceremony of keys to the beneficiaries of 60 houses in the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria joint housing delivery venture with FHA Mortgage Bank, by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Senator Ashafa, who is also the Chairman of Federal Housing Authority Mortgage Bank, stated that the development was in line with management's resolve to expand the Authority's operations throughout all the states of the federation.

Speaking further, the MD said that the move is to use the housing sector to create jobs in line with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari's stance on stimulating the economy, creating jobs and lifting more citizens out of poverty. " we have to use the value chain benefits of the housing sector to help create jobs for our people"

The FHA boss went on to say "apart from giving our citizens befitting and affordable accommodation, our project will help employ our youths and reduce greatly, all forms of crimes".

The project which is a collaboration between Federal Housing Authority and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria is expected to start soon with the capacity of creating thousands of jobs.
Earlier, the MD/CE inspected the 150 hectares of land for the proposed estate in Kalgo, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state.

FG INAUGURATES NEW MEMBERS OF FHA MANAGEMENT TEAM.

The Federal Government, Tuesday, November 6th, 2021 inaugurated new members of FHA Managment Team.
In a brief ceremony, the Honourable minister for Works and Housing, His Excellency Babatunde Raji Fashola(SAN) while congratulating the new Executive Directors said that government decided on re - positiong the Authority to enable it deliver on its mandate.

According to the Honourable Minister, " Government has taken steps to re - position FHA to further deepen its ability for service delivery". Speaking further, the Minister noted that one of the first steps government took was to approve a pan Nigerian Board of Directors for the agency, with diversity of talents.

He went on to note that government now has found it necessary to strengthen the Managment by expanding the Directorates to five.
The new Executive Directors are Hauwa Babakobi; Executive Director Estate Services, Adama Kure; Executive Director Housing Finance and Accounts, and Engr. Chinonso Sam - Emoke; Executive Director Project Implementation.

The Minister charged the new members of the FHA Managment Team to diligently and vigorously face the tasks ahead of them. He reminded the FHA Management that their tasks include developing new projects, maintaining the existing ones, and harnessing all of the Authority's assets.

Earlier on , the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Babangida Hussain on his opening remarks urged the new Members of the Management Team to endeavour and work together for improved service delivery in the Authority.
