The International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development (5 December), more commonly referred to as International Volunteer Day (IVD), is an international observance mandated by the UN General Assembly in 1985.
It offers an opportunity for volunteer-involving organizations and individual volunteers to promote volunteerism, encourage governments to support volunteer efforts, and recognize volunteer contributions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at local, national, and international levels.

Our Mission
To contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for young people in cities and communities by equipping them with the right knowledge and skills to take action for the future we want in localizing the SDGs in Nigeria.
Our Vision
We envision seeing empowered youths in cities and communities with improved knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development to become global citizens.
Today through collaboration with the SDGs Students Hub and other partners we officially flag off the club after it was postponed last year.
Our Goal
The project aims to empower the youths to become global advocates through the creation of SDGs hubs at university campuses, SDGs awareness at schools, and communities’ outreaches where they can learn to collaborate, build trust with empathy to become responsible citizens and ensure they are well equipped with the right knowledge and skills to take action for the future we want in localizing the SDGs in Nigeria.
Our SDGs Focus
SDGs 4.7: by 2030 ensure all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including among others education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship, and appreciation of cultural diversity and culture’s contribution to sustainable development.
I hereby call on students, members of communities in Kano State to support the implementation of this project in our beloved state.
Kindly join the live event going on right now.

Mahatma Gandhi observed, “that the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
In other words, placing the needs of others before your own is an important step on the journey of self-discovery.
Since 2009 I have been actively putting myself on the line to do whatever it takes to ensure we continue to build the future we want.
HMDs foundation called and I have answered...
In the following days, I will be privileged to build the capacity of amazing young minds that I have found doing great things.
This training will be proudly supported by our organization SDGs ACT Africa one of the leading organizations helping to promote the global goals in Nigeria.
The training will focus on the following key theme:
1. Leadership
2. The Global Goals
3. NGO Management
4. Project Management
5. Monitoring & Evaluation
And many more...
I hope this training will go a long way to bring greater impact towards the future we want.
Muhammad Hamida thank you for inviting me to do this with your team.
Let's get it started.

17 Days of SDGs Awareness Campaign - DAY 17
GOAL: PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS.
Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
The SDGs can only be realized with strong global partnerships and cooperation.
A successful development agenda requires inclusive partnerships
— at the global, regional, national, and local levels
— built upon principles and values, and a shared vision and shared goals placing people and the planet at the center.
Many countries require Official Development Assistance to encourage growth and trade.
Yet, aid levels are falling and donor countries have not lived up to their pledge to ramp up development finance.

17 Days of SDGs Awareness Campaign - DAY 16
GOAL: PEACE, JUSTICE, AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS.
Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies.
Conflict, insecurity, weak institutions, and limited access to justice remain great threats to sustainable development.
The number of people fleeing war, persecution, and conflict exceeded 70 million in 2018, the highest level recorded by the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) in almost 70 years.
In 2019, the United Nations tracked 357 killings and 30 enforced disappearances of human rights defenders, journalists, and trade unionists in 47 countries.
And the births of around one in four children under age 5 worldwide are never officially recorded, depriving them of proof of legal identity crucial for the protection of their rights and access to justice and social services.

17 Days of SDGs Awareness Campaign - DAY 15
GOAL : LIFE ON LAND
Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
A flourishing life on land is the foundation for our life on this planet. We are all part of the planet’s ecosystem and we have caused severe damage to it through deforestation, loss of natural habitats and land degradation.
Promoting a sustainable use of our ecosystems and preserving biodiversity is not a cause. It is the key to our own survival.
