Three days ago, we visited two farm hubs of Bring Back Our Youths to Agriculture (BBYA) in Eporo/Emure Ekiti and Ikere Ekiti.
The youths were excited to receive us and we were also glad to see the achievements made so far.
The seed's germination rate is about 99% and it's ongoing.
We inspected the building of the farm dormitories at the 2 centres and we tasked the contractors to meet the July deadline.
We hope for a bountiful harvest in this season as the weather is presently friendly.
The visit will continue by next week to the remaining 11 hubs.

We commenced the distribution of improved oil palm and cocoa seedlings to tree crops farmers in the state.
HE Biodun Oyebanji has approved a reduction in the price of the seedlings by 50% as we have it on seeds for the food crops farmers.
The plan is to help the legacy farmers to replace old trees with improved seedlings that are resilient to climate vagaries. Emerging farmers also can benefit in the scheme to establish new plantations.
Going forward, we will be very hard and strict on bush burning menace in our farmsteads as this usually causes a serious setback to our goal of being in the first three spots of cocoa producing states in Nigeria.
Interested farmers are to call +234 806 164 0409 for the payment procedure and to schedule pick up arrangements.

EKSG Allocates Mechanisation Service Providers to Boost Agricultural Productivity
Ekiti State Government has allocated Mechanisation Service Providers (MSPs) across towns, communities, and local government areas under its Tractorisation Subsidy Support Scheme.
The State’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, stated that the initiative aims to ease farmers' financial burdens and enhance productivity by subsidising mechanised land preparation and cultivation services.
Reaffirming Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to modernising agriculture and ensuring farmers have access to improved farming techniques, Boluwade assured that all interested farmers would benefit from the scheme.
The Commissioner noted that while rainfall patterns remain inconsistent across the state, some areas have received sufficient rain to commence mechanised farming. He, therefore, urged farmers to contact their designated MSPs for pre-tractorisation visits and land assessments or liaise with the engineers assigned to their senatorial districts to facilitate the process.
According to him, each farmer is required to contribute 50% of the estimated cost based on land size and required operations, payable into a designated account after assessment. He assured that once payment is confirmed, the assigned MSP would be mobilised to commence work within 48 hours.
Boluwade emphasised that the process would be transparent and accountable, as both farmers and supervising engineers are expected to submit reports on the respective sites, which will be remotely validated to ensure compliance with set standards.
Encouraging farmers to take advantage of the initiative, the Commissioner reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to food security and agricultural development. He added that the list of MSPs would be continuously updated to accommodate more service providers and farmers.

The Ekiti state government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and resilience through the adoption of digital extension approaches and climate advisory services.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ebenezer Boluwade disclosed this on Friday at a training session for extension agents on digital extension approaches and climate advisory services.
The training session, which was held at the Pastoral Centre, Ikere Road, Ado-Ekiti, was organized by the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) project, a World Bank initiative.
Boluwade explained that the L-PRES project was solely designed to enhance the productivity, commercialization, as well as resilience of targeted livestock production systems.
He emphasized the need for sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practice given the challenges posed by climate change to agricultural productivity such as heatweaves, increased frequency of droughts and floods.
