INEC, Stakeholders Hold Electoral Risk Management Workshop Ahead of Ekiti Poll
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in collaboration with key stakeholders, has held an Electoral Risk Management (ERM) sensitization workshop ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.

The workshop, held on April 15 in Ado-Ekiti, brought together officials of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), security agencies, civil society organisations, and media practitioners to strengthen strategies for a peaceful and credible election.

In her goodwill message, the NOA State Director, Oluwakemi Akomolede, said credible elections require the collective effort of all stakeholders. She noted that voter apathy, misinformation, and vote-buying remain major challenges driven by low civic awareness, adding that some communities have been identified as risk-prone areas.
Speaking, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti State, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, described the workshop as timely and strategic, noting that the ERM framework would help identify and mitigate risks such as security threats, misinformation, and logistical challenges.
He reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible election, urging stakeholders to comply with electoral guidelines.

Also, Jennifer Ikechukwu highlighted the importance of risk identification and mapping in preventing electoral violence, noting that the ERM framework serves as a tool for tracking and mitigating threats to the electoral process.
Participants also engaged in sessions to identify and map electoral risk areas across the state, with a view to ensuring a peaceful governorship election.

*NBC Holds Political Broadcast Stakeholders’ Meeting Ahead of Ekiti 2026 Governorship Election*

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Benin Zone, has organized a Political Broadcast Stakeholders’ Meeting in preparation for the 2026 Governorship Election in Ekiti State.

The meeting, held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Delight Hotel and Suites, Ado Ekiti, brought together representatives of broadcast stations, political parties, civil society organizations, security agencies, INEC, and other key stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Ekiti State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, described the meeting as timely and important.

She urged stakeholders to uphold professionalism, fairness, and truth in political communication, while calling for stronger collaboration with NOA in sensitizing and mobilizing citizens, especially at the grassroots level.
She also cautioned against hate speech, misinformation, and any content capable of inciting violence before, during, and after the election.
In his remarks, the Director-General of NBC, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, emphasized the role of the media in educating the public and shaping opinions. He called on political actors to respect the media and allow journalists to perform their duties freely.

A paper presented by Mrs. Pauline Ehusani, Director of Investigation and Enforcement at NBC, highlighted key principles guiding political broadcasting, including fairness, balance, integrity, and accountability. She urged broadcasters to promote unity and avoid divisive content.

The meeting stressed the need for responsible and balanced media coverage to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process in Ekiti State.

FIDA Holds Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Gender-Based Violence in Ekiti

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ekiti State Branch, has organized a one-day Multi-Stakeholders Dialogue on the implementation of gender-responsive legislations aimed at preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Nigeria.

The event, held on March 27, 2026, at Delight Hotel and Suites, Ado Ekiti, brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, civil society organizations, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant bodies.

Speaking at the programme, the Chairperson of FIDA in Ekiti State, Barrister Ayobami Olowoyo Richards, said the dialogue was organized to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, review progress made, and identify gaps in the implementation of laws protecting women and girls.

She noted that GBV remains a major concern, affecting the rights and well-being of women and girls.

In her goodwill message, the Ekiti State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, described GBV as not only a legal issue but also a societal problem rooted in attitudes and beliefs. She emphasized the need for continuous public sensitization and value re-orientation, adding that NOA remains committed to grassroots mobilization and awareness creation.
Participants at the dialogue identified several challenges affecting the enforcement of gender-responsive laws and called for stronger measures to address them.
Key recommendations included the establishment of special courts for GBV cases, increased public awareness on existing laws, improved funding for support services for survivors, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders.

The stakeholders also stressed the importance of taking awareness campaigns to the grassroots to ensure wider reach and better understanding of GBV issues.
The dialogue ended with a call for sustained efforts to ensure that laws protecting women and girls are effectively implemented across the country.

Kitiface Foundation for Human Development Visit NOA,,,,,,Seeks Areas Of Synergy

The representatives of Kitiface Foundation for Human Development has paid an advocacy visit to the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Ekiti State to seek synergy and partnership in advancing women’s development initiatives across Ekiti State.

While discussing with members of Management of NOA,the team lead,Mrs Bose Idiaka, stressed more on understanding women’s needs, encouraging active participation in society, and creating more awareness about mental health beyond gender-related issues.

The initiative,
“Arise Ekiti Women,” was aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and increasing their involvement in politics and community development" Idiaka said.

She noted that, the inclusion of NOA in the program is important, as emphasized by Honorable Demola Eleshin who stated that NOA should be part of the initiative to ensure effective grassroots mobilization and sensitization.

In her response, the Ekiti State Director of NOA Mrs Oluwakemi Akomolede assured the foundation of the Agency’s readiness to partner with them, stating that NOA will be available to mobilize and sensitize people at the grassroot, as well as provide feedback to the government. She encouraged the foundation to share their plans, including dates and areas of collaboration.

Speaking further, Mrs Bose Idiaka said the foundation will engage all political parties and involve Honorable Eleshin.
She explained that the goal is to highlight the active participation and impact of Ekiti women in politics.

The newly appointed National Orientation Agency Southwest Zonal Director, Mr Martin Kehinde Ogunkuade, paid an official visit to NOA Ekiti State Directorate.......Charged Staff on diligence and professionalism.

Receiving the Zonal Director, the Ekiti State Director of NOA, Mrs Oluwakemi Akomolede, extol the good virtues and immeasurable leadership qualities of the Zonal Director during his service years with the National Headquarters of NOA in Abuja.

She thanked God for the life of the new Zonal Director and prayed for good health and wisdom needed for the success of the task ahead.

Thereafter, management members of NOA Ekiti, also took turn in recounting their individual taste of Mr Kehinde Ogunkuade's benevolence during his service years with the Agency.

It was a funfair and an atmosphere filled with spark of celebration when the Zonal Director had an audience with the general staff of NOA Ekiti State Directorate.

It was indeed a homecoming visit filled with unending eulogy of a man who has deliberately registered his act of inestimable kindness in the life of many, as staff took turns in giving their individual experience with the southwest New Zonal Director.

*NOA Sensitize Market Women on Tax Reforms in Ado Ekiti*

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ekiti State, organized a sensitization programme on tax reforms for market women at Ewi's Palace, in Ado Ekiti.

The State Director, Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, said the session was necessary to address widespread rumours and allay the fears that the new tax policy would lead to deductions from traders’ bank accounts.

She explained that NOA, in collaboration with the Board of Internal Revenue, is committed to enlightening the public and ensuring that people understands government policies correctly.
According to her, the aim is to promote understanding, peace, and cooperation between government and citizens.

Mrs. Akomolede assured the traders that government is not interested in removing money from anyone’s account but in proper documentation and assessment of actual gains. She urged them not to panic, avoid misinformation, and always seek clarification from the right sources.

Mrs Akomolede added that taxation is a tool for national development, as seen in other countries, and appealed to the market women to remain patient, law-abiding, and supportive while government continues to work for the good of all.

Mr. Patrick Akinseye, Tax Controller from the Nigeria Revenue Services explained that tax collection is not new and encouraged traders to keep records, accept bank transfers, and report any issues to the revenue office.

Market leaders who spoke included Chief Mrs. Mary Ajewole (Adere), Chief Mrs. Mary Ojo (Bisi), Chief Mrs. Adesina (Oja Olela), Chief Mrs. Ibitoye (Sasa), Chief Mrs. Apalowo (Mojere), and Chief Mrs. Funke Ogunmola (Iyalaje Alaso), who raised concerns about deductions, loans, and poor sales.

The programme ended with a reassurance by the NOA boss that the discussion on the new Tax Law shall be a continuous one.

*NOA, INEC Sensitize PWDs on Ward-Level Voter Registration in Ekiti*

The Ekiti State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, has urged Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to participate actively in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
She described the PVC as the people’s power and said inclusive elections are a collective responsibility, adding that “there is ability in every disability.”
She commended INEC for decentralizing voter registration to the ward level and assured PWDs of easy access during registration and on election day.

She also reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to continuous voter education and sensitization.

The sensitization meeting was held on Thursday, 12 February 2026, at Hassanat Event Centre, Ado Ekiti, with PWD leaders and INEC officials in attendance.

INEC announced that the ward-level CVR will take place in all 177 wards across Ekiti State from 16 to 25 February 2026, with provisions for registrants to indicate their disability status for proper support during the governorship election.

NOA Urges Ekiti Youths to Participate Actively in Electoral Process

The Ekiti State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, has called on youths in the state to actively participate in the electoral process, stressing that credible, free, and fair elections remain a collective responsibility of all citizens.

Mrs. Akomolede made the call while delivering her goodwill message at the Naija Elections: Ekiti Youth Demtalks Outreach Programme, organized by Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) on Tuesday, 20th January 2026, at the CDA Event Hall,in Ado-Ekiti.

The NOA boss commended Kimpact Development Initiative for its proactive efforts in promoting youth engagement and strengthening democratic participation, particularly as Ekiti State approaches another electioneering period. According to her, programmes of this nature are crucial in reawakening civic consciousness among young people.

The NOA Ekiti State Director emphasized that while technology can support the electoral process, it cannot replace the responsibility of citizens to participate actively. She urged eligible voters, especially youths, to turn out en masse during the forthcoming election and exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.

Mrs. Akomolede further described the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) as the true power of the people, noting that it remains a vital tool for shaping leadership and governance. She reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to continuous voter education and public sensitization across the state.

The outreach programme brought together key stakeholders in the electoral process, including representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), civil society organizations, Christian Youths Association, Muslim community, people living with disabilities, National Youth Council (NYC), the media, and other relevant groups.

The Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ekiti State, Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, has urged residents to support the new tax reforms, describing them as a key step towards stronger economic growth and fairer governance.

According to Mrs. Akomolede, Nigeria’s tax system has long faced challenges, including a narrow tax base, tax evasion, low compliance, and outdated collection methods.

These have reduced government revenue, slowing down infrastructural development, social services, and other critical programs.

The new tax reforms is aimed to reducing dependence on oil by boosting non-oil revenue,

expand the tax base while easing the burden on low-income earners

Ensure fairness by requiring higher earners to contribute proportionately

Simplify tax laws to prevent confusion and multiple taxation

Strengthen tax administration through digital systems

Support small and medium-sized businesses and promote sustainable growth

Reduce government borrowing and align with global tax standards

*NOA EKITI WARNS AGAINST BUSH BURNING, URGES ELIGIBLE CITIZENS TO REGISTER WITH INEC*

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ekiti State Directorate, has urged citizens to desist from indiscriminate burning of bushes, farmlands, and refuse, especially during the dry season.

The State Director of NOA, Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, stated that bush burning poses serious dangers to lives, property, food security, and the environment. She noted that the practice often leads to uncontrollable fire disaster,destruction of crops, loss of wildlife, and can result in fatal accidents and air pollution, which negatively affects public health.

Mrs. Akomolede called on farmers, hunters, and members of the public to adopt safer and environmentally friendly alternatives, stressing that everyone has a responsibility to protect the environment and preserve it for future generations. She urged community leaders, youth groups, and traditional institutions to help spread this message at the grassroots level.

In addition, the NOA Ekiti boss seized the opportunity to encourage all eligible citizens who are yet to register or collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to Mrs Akomolede,participation in the electoral process is a civic duty and a vital means for citizens to contribute to good governance and national development.

She emphasized that democracy thrives when citizens are informed, registered, and actively involved in the decision-making process through voting.
Mrs. Akomolede appealed to radio and television stations across the state to support this sensitization by giving wide publicity to the messages against bush burning and the importance of INEC registration.
