*PRESS STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION (NBA), OKITIPUPA BRANCH, ON THE ONGOING TRIAL OF OMOLEGBON ODUSOLA, ESQ.*

The attention of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Okitipupa Branch, has been drawn to the recent public denial by the Governor of Ondo State regarding his involvement in the ongoing trial of our esteemed colleague, Omolegbon Odusola, Esq. This denial is particularly disturbing, given the overwhelming evidence that contradicts such a claim.

It is a matter of public record that Mr. Odusola was arraigned before the court on allegations including defamation of the Governor’s character in a Facebook video publication. However, from the charge sheet and direct statements made in court, it is crystal clear that the Governor of Ondo State is named as the complainant in the case.

Additionally, the police prosecutor openly affirmed in court that the Governor is indeed the complainant. The question then arises—why this sudden and blatant attempt at disassociation?

We wish to categorically state that under Nigerian law, a criminal complaint cannot be filed by proxy. If the Governor now claims he did not author the petition that led to this baseless prosecution, then it is imperative that the truth be laid bare.

We therefore make the following demands:

*1. Clarification from the Nigeria Police Force* – We call upon the police to publicly disclose the actual individual who authored the petition that led to the arraignment of Omolegbon Odusola, Esq. This is especially important given the established presence of one Kelvin Solomon Olaolu (KSO), a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, at the police station in furtherance of the said petition.

*2. Investigation into False Allegations* – The police must thoroughly investigate the veracity of the allegations against Mr. Odusola. If it is found that the allegations were fabricated, the complainant must be charged under the law for Giving False Information to the police.

*3. Accountability for Investigative Lapses* – We demand an immediate review of the case file to determine whether any complainant made a formal statement. If no such statement exists, the NBA Okitipupa Branch will formally petition the Police Service Commission against the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) who failed, neglected, or refused to conduct a proper investigation before hastily charging this matter to court.

The NBA, Okitipupa Branch, remains steadfast in its pursuit of justice and will not tolerate any attempt to use state institutions to intimidate or suppress the voice of the legal profession. Justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done. Until these demands are met, we shall continue to press for full transparency and accountability in this matter.

We further commend the people of Ondo State for their unwavering support and the legal team, ably led by the distinguished *Chief Olusola Nehemiah Ebiseni (ONE)* and the the unwavering support of the NBA Chairman of Akure Branch, for their spirited defence of Mr. Odusola. This case is not just about one man—it is about the sanctity of the rule of law and the protection of fundamental freedoms in our democracy.

Signed

*OMOTOLA O. ODUSOLA, ESQ.*
Chairman, NBA Okitipupa Branch

This is Kalvin Solomon olaolu, the SSA to the Governor on students affairs, the power drunker that was allegedly written the petition against Barrister wale odusola.

Though we haven't authenticate the written of the petition by him but with the information we gathered so far, they said he was the one that wrote the petition.

If it is true, we will tell him that he attained the position of the SA through the power of social media. we will tell him to face his job as SSA students and be looking after the welfare of Ondo state students rather than the eye service he is doing. we will also demand an apology from him to all Ondo state citizens.

Let me stop here till we authenticate it as the writer of the petition.

investigation continue..
