ADVANCING POWER SECTOR REFORM: RT. HON. GBEGUDU PARTICIPATES IN LANDMARK ELECTRICITY LAW AMENDMENT

Rt. Hon. Gbegudu Ololade James was in attendance at the plenary session held yesterday presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji where the House successfully passed into law the amendment bill to the Ondo State Electric Power Sector Law, 2020.

The bill which was thoroughly considered and subsequently passed after its third reading through a unanimous voice vote marks a significant legislative milestone aimed at repositioning the State’s power sector for greater efficiency and sustainability.

The amended law is expected to enhance access to stable, reliable and affordable electricity, while also strengthening the State’s internally generated revenue base.
This development reflects the resolve of the Ondo State House of Assembly to support progressive policies that drive economic growth and ensure better service delivery for residents across the State.

RT. HON. GBEGUDU APPLAUDS GOV AIYEDATIWA ON ₦2.4BN GRATUITY PAYMENT

Yesterday, Rt. Hon. Gbegudu attended the official flag-off of the disbursement of ₦2.4 billion in gratuities to retirees of 2018 and 2019 where he represented the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji.

Rt. Hon. Gbegudu commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for what he described as a bold and compassionate step towards restoring the dignity of retired public servants. He noted that the payment of gratuities to 733 beneficiaries reflects a leadership that prioritises the welfare of its people and honours the years of service rendered by senior citizens to the state.

Describing the Governor as a leader who governs with sincerity, the Deputy Speaker stated that the gesture reinforces public confidence in government and demonstrates a firm commitment to fulfilling promises. He further applauded the administration for refusing to politicise workers’ welfare, adding that such actions define responsible governance.

MOBILISING FOR VICTORY: RT. HON. GBEGUDU BACKS GOV AIYEDATIWA’S ONE MILLION VOTES AGENDA FOR TINUBU

Rt. Hon. Gbegudu, yesterday represented the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji at the APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Akure, where critical discussions were held on party unity, forthcoming congresses and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Rt. Hon. Gbegudu commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his leadership and clear direction for the party, particularly his call for intensified grassroots mobilisation to secure one million votes for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He noted that the Governor’s emphasis on unity, discipline and Unit-level engagement reflects a deep understanding of the political process and the pathway to electoral success.

Rt. Hon. Gbegudu has extended warm congratulations to Senator Jimoh Ibrahim CFR, OFR on his appointment as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations as well as to Ambassador Sola Iji on his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation.

The Deputy Speaker described the appointments as well-deserved recognitions of their competence and longstanding contributions to national development and international engagement. He noted that the confidence reposed in them by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and advancing the country’s interests on the global stage.

Yesterday, Rt. Hon. Gbegudu Ololade on behalf of the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji joined dignitaries and well-meaning citizens of the state at the commemoration of the first year anniversary of the administration of His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Representing the Speaker at the landmark event, Rt. Hon. Gbegudu applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for his purposeful leadership, noting that the administration has demonstrated clear commitment to infrastructural renewal and economic growth for the people of Ondo State.

In his goodwill message, the Deputy Speaker highlighted the strong collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature, noting that the Ondo State House of Assembly has successfully passed several impactful laws aimed at strengthening security, protecting property rights, and lots more.
