*BLOCK BACKSLIDING*

*BIBLE TEXT:* PSALMS 119:9-16

_📖 *MEMORY VERSE: "Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word (PSLAMS 119:9)*_

*King Saul was favoured and chosen by God to be King over Israel, but a single act of disobedience started his fall out of fellowship and favour with God. He, who once enjoyed God's grace and guidance lost touch with God, the throne and eventually lost his life. He is a biblical example of a backslider. Hence H.L Heijkoop said in his book, The Book of Ruth, that: "The first step in departing from the Lord may be ever so slight, but one never knows where it will lead." Backsliding is a gradual spiritual decay - the Christian returns to his old habit of sin gradually but steadily. It may just begin with fleshly desires, prayerlessness and fear of man.*

*To block backsliding, you need to persevere in faith by Iiving a life of habitual obedience to God's Word. Daily seek the Lord, through prayer, study of His word and fellowship with other believers. God commands us to watch and pray. The rate of conversion in schools is high, yet they are also the avenues for backsliding. So beware and resist tempters and temptresses.*

*TEACHING REBELLION AGAINST GOD*

*BIBLE TEXT:* JEREMIAH 28:10-17

_📖 *MEMORY VERSE: "Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD" (JEREMIAH 28:16)*_

*Charles Spurgeon said, "I heard the story of a man, a blasphemer, profane, an atheist, who was converted singularly by a sinful action of his. He had writen on a piece of paper, 'God is nowhere,' and ordered his child to read it, for he would make him an atheist too. The child spelled it, 'God is n-o-w h-e-r-e - God is now here.'" It was a truth instead of a lie, and the arrow pierced the man's own heart.*

*The first rebels were Satan and his fallen angels. They were cast out of heaven and were all doomed. No one has ever trodden the path of rebellion against the Almighty God and made away with it. Pharaoh perished in the Red Sea. Nebuchadnezzar's heart was changed and he ate grass like an animal in the bush. Benhadad, Sennacherib, Ahab, Haman, Herod, Korah and his cohorts perished in rebellion but God remains the same. He is still on the throne ruling and reigning. To rebel against God is grievous; to teach others rebellion is gruesome. Stop fighting the battle you cannot win - yield!*
