ACTDA Swings Into Action at Nibo Road

Following the recent flood incident at Nibo Road, where a school bus was swept away by floodwaters, the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has swung into action.

Today, ACTDA deployed a dredging machine to the area to properly create and improve a sustainable water channel, aimed at preventing floodwaters from overflowing onto the road and reducing the risk of future incidents.

We appreciate the swift intervention of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and the ACTDA Team, for their commitment to protecting lives and property.

As we continue to work together to build a safer and better Anambra State:

Solution is here!

A Painful Morning at Nibo-Ring Road

This morning, we visited the flood incident at Nibo-Ring Road, where a school bus was swept away by the floodwaters.

In a show of concern and commitment to the rescue effort, the Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr. Ossy Onuko, accompanied the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure to the scene to support and coordinate the ongoing rescue efforts.

First responders, security agencies, emergency personnel and community volunteers worked together in a desperate rescue effort. Several of the children were successfully rescued, but at the time of our visit, one pupil was still unaccounted for.

Our hearts are with the child’s family, the school community and all the parents living through this painful uncertainty.

The search and rescue effort remains deeply urgent. We continue to pray and hope for the best as the search continues.

May God strengthen the affected families, the rescuers and everyone involved in this difficult moment.

Anambra state has serious environmental challenges. The federal government and development agencies should urgently come to the aid of the state but the state has to first declare a state of emergency on the environment. This flooding occurred along the Awka/ Nibo/ Nise/ Enugwu-Ukwu Ring road.
