I am delighted to share that the Edo State Ministry of Justice has once again received national recognition for its outstanding performance in the administration of criminal justice, emerging as one of the leading justice institutions in Nigeria.
This commendation was announced during a Technical Summit organized by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (ROLAC) Programme, International IDEA, and the European Union, where Edo State was highly rated for its effective administration of criminal justice and ranked ahead of many states across the federation.
The recognition is particularly gratifying because it reflects the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of the entire management and staff of the Edo State Ministry of Justice. It is a testament to our collective commitment to strengthening the rule of law, promoting access to justice, and ensuring that our justice system remains efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the people.
During the summit, I had the opportunity to share some key prosecutorial guidelines and best practices that have continued to improve the administration of criminal justice in Edo State. I was encouraged by the positive feedback from participants, including officials of ROLAC, who acknowledged the remarkable reforms and innovations introduced by the Ministry.
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support and visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State. His administration's commitment to institutional reforms, good governance, and the rule of law has created an enabling environment for the Ministry to implement policies and programmes that continue to strengthen justice delivery in our state.
I sincerely appreciate His Excellency for the confidence reposed in the Ministry and for providing the necessary support that has enhanced the smooth operation of the justice sector in Edo State.
This latest recognition adds to the honours recently bestowed on me, including the Best Attorney General of a State in Nigeria Award conferred by the National Leadership Awards in April 2026 at Merit House, Abuja. While I am grateful for these recognitions, I view them primarily as a reflection of the excellent work being done by the dedicated officers and staff of the Ministry of Justice.
As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to consolidating our gains, deepening ongoing reforms, and advancing the administration of justice for the benefit of all Edo residents.
