Refrain from Any Act of Revenge, Be Circumspect- Gov. Bala Urges Parents

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has called on citizens particularly parents to refrain from any revenge, emphasizing the importance of upholding unity, tolerance and togetherness of Nigeria.

Mohammed made the call while interacting with parents of the seven abducted children after their repatriation from Kano state, expressing concern over what he described unscrupulous business by some individuals.

While charging parents to be guided by the ideals and the rules of law, Mohammed commended the Kano state government and security agencies for their prompt response and commitment to rescuing the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.

Governor Mohammed who announced the donation of one million naira each of the seven children to fund their education, called on religious groups, civil society organizations as well as traditional institutions to continue to educate the public on the parental obligation.

Notably present during the occasion were the state First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, members of the State Executive Council (SEC).

Governor Bala Declares Bauchi State Education Summit Open, Says Education Remains His Top Priority

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed said Bauchi state's rich cultural heritage must be channeled to nurture the generation equipped with the skills, knowledge and resilience required for the challenges of the 21st century.

He was speaking today while declaring open the Bauchi State Education Summit themed "Nurturing a Flourishing Future: Improving Access and Quality Education in Bauchi State" holding at Sultan Saad Abubakar Hajj Bauchi, where he assured the participants that his administration exemplifies the shared dedication to advancing education and shaping a brighter future for the benefit of the citizenry.

Governor Bala said the summit is timely and aligns with his strategic plan for the sector, stating that it his moral and constitutional duty to ensure every child in Bauchi state has access to quality education.

He said the discussions in the summit will delve into a multifaceted, dimensions of education, exploring avenues to improve infrastructure, enhancing teacher training, embracing technology as well as addressing socioeconomic factors hindering access to education.

While reminding the participants that the challenges facing Nigeria's education sector are intricate and pervasive, Mohammed said his commitment to overcoming the obstacle led to the establishment of Ministry of Higher Education which is not only tasked with addressing local issues, but also ensuring alignment between Bauchi State Government's policies and programmes and its sister states to elevate educational across all levels.

He, however, highlighted the objectives of the summit saying it will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the education in Bauchi state including the number of out-of-school children, their demographics and the impact on education due to various challenges.

He added that the summit would also develop evidence-based programs policies and strategies towards addressing the challenges and strengthening his administration's capacities and existing efforts in addition to devising innovative strategies for creating conducive learning environments including repairing and revitalizing schools.

While appreciating the stakeholders' active participation in the summit, Mohammed said he is optimist that fruitful deliberations will be provided.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has called on the students of Saadu Zungur University, popularly known as BASUG, to imbibe the culture of discipline, hard work and respect for lecturers, university authorities as well as refraining from anti social behavior and the influence of bad companies.

Mohammed made the call while addressing the participants of the Bauchi State University convocation ceremony held at the main campus Gadau where he stated that his administration is poised to provide infrastructural facilities and necessary support to the state owned tertiary institutions to ensure a hitch-free academic activities.

While commenting on his conferment with the doctorate degree (Honoris Causa), Doctor of Letters by the university, in recognition of his exceptional accomplishments and dedication to rebuilding Bauchi, Mohammed said the Educational Summit his administration has initiated will hold on 18-19th December, and is aimed at transforming the sector with emphasis on designing a good roadmap whose implementation will ensure equitable access to quality and functional education.

He called on the management of the institution to come up with ideas on how to surmount the ever increasing security challenges bedevilling the state and the nation especially server crimes, kidnapping and drug addiction.

Mohammed, however, called on staff of the university to uphold the culture of selflessness, fellowship and commitment, imbibing the spirit of give and take, cooperating with the management towards the progress of Bauchi state and its citizens.

While calling on the citizens to support his administration towards the realization of its noble objectives, Mohammed said by demonstrating exemplary behavior remaining role models to the forthcoming generation, the future of Nigeria will be bright.
