VISIT OF THE CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER TO TIC BAUCHI

The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Kevin Tokar, paid an official visit to the Technology Incubation Centre, Bauchi on 11th February, 2026. The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and identifying possible areas of intervention and technical support for entrepreneurs operating under the Centre.

Upon arrival, the High Commissioner was warmly received by the Centre Manager, Abdullahi Abdulkadir Yelwa, alongside staff members and entrepreneurs of TIC Bauchi. A brief welcome session was held to introduce the activities and mandate of the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP).

The visit specifically focused on:

1. Identifying areas where the Canadian High Commission can provide intervention and support
2. Exploring opportunities for technical training and capacity building for selected entrepreneurs at TIC Bauchi

Particular attention was given to two enterprises:

1. SAMA Gold Rice Ltd
2. Chime Foods Ltd

These entrepreneurs were presented as potential beneficiaries of support aimed at improving production processes and product standards.

The High Commissioner was thereafter taken on a guided tour of the incubation units where he interacted directly with entrepreneurs, observed production activities, and listened to explanations on operational challenges, especially in the areas of equipment, processing, product packaging, and power supply.

Mr. Kevin Tokar commended the efforts of TIC Bauchi in supporting local entrepreneurs and promoting innovation. He expressed interest in technical training opportunities and possible support for the selected enterprises.

The visit was successful and productive, opening prospects for future collaboration and development support for entrepreneurs within the Centre.

SEND-OFF CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF FORMER ZONAL DIRECTOR, NORTH-EAST ZONE “F”

The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Bauchi on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026, hosted a send-off ceremony in honour of the immediate former Zonal Director, North-East Zone “F”, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed, following her retirement from service.

The event, held at the TIC Bauchi Conference Hall, was attended by the Ag. Zonal Director, North-East Zone “F”; six Centre Managers from Bauchi, Gombe, Maiduguri, Yola, Jalingo, and Damaturu; the Director of Technology, Bauchi State Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, Alhaji Usman Dahiru (representing the Honourable Commissioner); former Director of Human Resources, Bauchi State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Lamara Shalumma; staff of the North-East Zone “F” and TIC Bauchi; as well as family members and friends of the celebrant.

Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed was honoured with two awards by the Forum of North-East Centre Managers and the National Association of Technology Incubation Entrepreneurs (NATIE), alongside three gifts presented by the Forum of North-East Centre Managers, NATIE, and the Staff of North-East Zone “F” and TIC Bauchi, in recognition of her exemplary leadership and dedicated service.

The ceremony celebrated her remarkable contributions to the growth of the Technology Incubation Programme in the North-East Zone and her enduring legacy of professionalism and mentorship.

TIC Bauchi wishes her a peaceful, fulfilling, and rewarding retirement.

The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Bauchi, under the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), in collaboration with the High Tech Centre for Nigerian Women and Youth, is set to host the Nigeria Tech Rally.

Theme: Fostering an Inclusive Digital and Tech-Enabled Economy for Sustainable Development
Date: 27th January, 2026
Venue: TIC Bauchi, Area Engineer’s Office, Ministry of Works and Transport, Bayan Gari, Bauchi.

The event will bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, youths, and key stakeholders to explore opportunities in digital technology, innovation, and inclusive economic growth.

The Director-General/CEO of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Engr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, hosted the Shandong Hi-Speed Road & Bridge International Engineering Co. Ltd. in a strategic partnership meeting focused on Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET).
The collaboration aims to strengthen TVET programmes across all Technology Incubation Centres (TICs) in the six geopolitical zones, with the goal of upgrading our centres and enhancing vocational learning opportunities for entrepreneurs and prospective students.

The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) joined other Directors-General, senior officials, and staff of the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST), alongside the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology; Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) Headquarters to commemorate World Science Day 2025.

The event underscored the vital role of science, technology incubation, and innovation in driving national growth and sustainable development.

The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) remains steadfast in its commitment to commercializing research and development outcomes, nurturing globally competitive talents, strengthening entrepreneurial capacity, and supporting innovations that empower institutions, Nigerian youths, and entrepreneurs across the nation.

SITE INSPECTION OF TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION CENTRE, AZARE EXTENSION

Following the recent allocation of one (1) hectare of land and accompanying facilities at Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State by the Bauchi State Government for the establishment of the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Azare Extension, the retiring Zonal Director, North-East Zone “F”, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed, undertook a site inspection visit as part of her final official engagements.

The visit aligns with the mandate of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-based enterprise development across the country, as well as to ensure the smooth take-off of new incubation centres within the zone.

Objectives of the Visit

The inspection was aimed at:

Assessing the level of preparedness of the new centre for official take-off.

Evaluating the adequacy of the facilities, infrastructure, and equipment provided.

Interacting with neighbouring government agencies for potential collaboration.

Identifying challenges and recommending appropriate interventions for a successful start-up.

Upon arrival, the retiring Zonal Director, accompanied by the Centre Manager, TIC Bauchi, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulkadir Yelwa, and Abdulqadir M. Hussain (Chief Administrative Officer), were warmly received by the Area Engineer, Ministry of Works, Azare, and his team. A comprehensive tour of the allocated site and facilities was thereafter conducted.

As part of the engagement, the team paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Katagum Local Government, Alhaji Yusuf Babayo Zaki, where the Zonal Director briefed him on the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) and its benefits to local economic growth.

In his remarks, the Chairman expressed profound appreciation to the NBTI and Bauchi State Government for bringing such a laudable initiative to Katagum. He further assured the Centre of his full support and collaboration, emphasizing that the establishment of TIC Azare Extension will significantly contribute to innovation, job creation, and small-scale industrial development within the North-East Zone.

This inspection visit marks a significant step toward the operationalisation of the TIC Azare Extension and reflects NBTI’s commitment to expanding its impact across the nation through innovation-led enterprise development.

President Bola Tinubu congratulates Al'amin Muhammed Idris, chief executive of Interface Africa, on winning the NextGen Innovation Challenge.

Interface Africa, representing Kaduna, won a cash award of £1.5 million at the challenge's grand finale, held on Thursday at the Hilton London Paddington.

The NextGen Innovation Challenge is a national initiative spearheaded by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) in partnership with UKALD London.

Inspired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, the challenge is designed to unlock Nigerian youths' innovative potential

President Tinubu commends Interface Africa for its effort in providing affordable solar financing to small businesses in Africa, noting that the cash award will support the company's mission to increase access to clean energy in underserved communities.

The President strongly believes that the innovative potential of Nigerian youths is boundless; hence, his administration's deliberate policies and programmes to harness and catalyse this vital resource.

President Tinubu also commends the other 104 participants and encourages them to keep innovating, improving lives, and shaping humanity's future.
