Students from two (2) schools that participated in the SheTechs project had their pitch on the 16th of February, 2024.
Training of 30girls from selected schools
Government Day Secondary School and
Government Girls College, Fadama mada which
held within the holiday was for 8weeks with
minimum of 2sessions per week. as training
progressed sessions were increase so as to also meet
up with girls engaging in their project.
activitied covered in module were:
-Introduction to basic electronics
-Introduction to circuits, and electronic component
with Snap Circuit kit – girls were introduced to
circuits, and electronic component like circuit board
resistors using Snap circuits
-Learn soldering skills - The student will be made to
build at least 2 components on Vero boards using
soldering elements
--Three basic electronics projects: Project done on
Solar systems and voltage regulator
- Introduction to Embedded System (LED Blinking)
- Intruder Detection system using PIR
- Automatic Street lights using LDR
- Interfacing LCD with Arduino
At the end of the 2 nd cohort of training girls created
projects that help to solve problems within their
community:
1.Automatic greenhouse irrigation system with GSM
feedback.
2) Traffic light with emergency signal override for
ambulance, faire service or emergency situation
3. Smart blind man walking stick
4. Intruder system with SMS feedback
5. Smart waste bin
6. Automatic Street light
7. Safe box

The Bauchi State Technology Incubation Center (TIC), in partnership with the Learn by Building Foundation, marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science under the theme "Women and Girls in Science Leadership, A New Era for Sustainability."

This event celebrated the potential of every girl to bring innovation and create solutions within their community. A total of 70 girls from St. Paul's Secondary School, Sa'adu Zungu Model Secondary School, and Giwo Science Academy participated in the event.

Faith Onarinde delivered a theme talk, emphasizing the power of STEM education, addressing the existing gap, and proposing potential solutions. The girls were greatly motivated to explore opportunities in STEM fields, aspiring to become solution-makers in their communities.

Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Learn by Building Foundation embarked on the SHETechs Project earlier this year, with the first cohort being graduated and certified, girls from Government Day Secondary Brishi are now being engaged in hands on learning of Basic and smart electronics.

It was an amazing journey with the first cohort. We work towards creating a more exciting learning journey for this girls.
