At Pili Kothi, Mithai Pul, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) attempted an eviction without following due legal procedure.
The IHA Delhi Team intervened on site and sought clarification on the absence of notice and authorization. During this, the MCD Licensing Inspector issued a threat of legal action against the team, which was strongly objected to.
Following on-ground intervention, MCD withdrew without any seizure.

Today at Pili Kothi, Mithai Pul, we witnessed a special kind of governance by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
There was
❌ no written notice,
❌ no legal procedure,
❌ no authority for seizure —
but there was
✅ full confidence,
✅ raised voices, and
✅ a Licensing Inspector ready with a threat: “We’ll file a case against you.”
Because apparently, asking for due process is now a bigger offence than violating the law itself.
When the IHA Delhi Team calmly asked a simple question —
“Under which law is this eviction being carried out?”
the answer was not a document, but intimidation.
Still, reality has its own way of responding.
After resistance and accountability on the ground, MCD left the site without any seizure.
No victory slogans today. Just a reminder:
👉 Livelihood is not illegal
👉 Questioning authority is not a crime
👉 And threats are not a substitute for law

आज IHA दिल्ली टीम ने पीली कोठी, मिठाई पुल में नगर निगम दिल्ली (MCD) द्वारा की जा रही अवैध बेदखली की कार्रवाई का मौके पर पहुँचकर विरोध किया।
टीम ने संबंधित अधिकारियों को कानूनन प्रक्रिया का पालन न किए जाने पर आपत्ति दर्ज कराई और प्रभावित दुकानदारों/रेहड़ी-पटरी वालों के अधिकारों का पक्ष मज़बूती से रखा। परिणामस्वरूप, MCD को बिना किसी प्रकार की ज़ब्ती किए कार्रवाई रोकनी पड़ी।
IHA दिल्ली टीम स्पष्ट करती है कि कानून के विरुद्ध किसी भी प्रकार की बेदखली स्वीकार्य नहीं है। संगठन भविष्य में भी श्रमिकों और रेहड़ी-पटरी वालों के अधिकारों की रक्षा हेतु सक्रिय रूप से हस्तक्षेप करता रहेगा।
