Earlier today, I had the honor of engaging with the brilliant Prof. PLO Lumumba, a true Pan-African voice of conscience, at the 4th Annual Meeting of the Africa Sovereign Investors Forum (ASIF) in Abuja.
In his inspiring style, Prof. Lumumba delivered a clarion call to African leaders: to rise beyond rhetoric and invest our continent’s sovereign wealth within Africa for the sake of generations yet unborn. He reminded us that our duty extends beyond the present to the future, and that our wealth, if wisely channeled, holds the power to liberate and transform Africa from within.
I couldn’t agree more.
It was a privilege to exchange ideas with a man whose words echo the dreams of a continent in pursuit of dignity, justice, and prosperity.

Representing my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, earlier today, I declared open the 4th Annual Meeting of the Africa Sovereign Investors Forum (ASIF), hosted by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).
Delivering his remarks, I called for collective action and regional cooperation among African countries in actualising transformative development across the continent.
Specifically, I noted that the shrewd utilisation of sovereign wealth funds is crucial to ongoing efforts to close the infrastructure gap, build climate change resilience, and create job opportunities for the continent’s growing youth population.
For Africa, the time has come to position itself to seize the opportunities embedded in the current wave of global change. He urged African nations to take a cue from evolving sovereign wealth funds around the world, which have moved beyond serving merely as fiscal buffers to becoming architects of national transformation.
Our future lies not in working in silos, but in pursuing regional cooperation and collective ambition. Our sovereign wealth funds must become the anchors of pan-African investment platforms that de-risk projects, standardise processes, and deliver sustainable outcomes at scale. This is not just a strategy - it is a necessity.
