No society can develop beyond the prospect of its Youth.

While the Yobe State Government acted with the intention of protecting students, this circular unfortunately communicates surrender rather than strategic protection. Completely shutting down boarding secondary schools signals that the government is retreating in the face of criminals and terrorists, instead of demonstrating its capacity to confront the threat.

Closing schools may temporarily remove students from danger, but it does not confront the root cause of insecurity, nor does it reassure parents that their children are safe in the long term. In fact, it may embolden criminals, who will interpret the decision as proof that the state can be intimidated into disrupting education at will.

Furthermore, the circular offers no concrete security plan for when schools reopen. The announcement should have outlined steps such as:
• Strengthened collaboration between security forces and school authorities
• Deployment of trained school security personnel
• Community-based intelligence networks
• Installation of perimeter fencing, surveillance, and early-warning systems
• Emergency response strategies for schools

Instead, the message places emphasis on prayers, which, although important culturally and spiritually, cannot serve as a substitute for visible, actionable policy measures.

If Yobe State is to inspire confidence, it must present a firm, proactive stance, showing that education will not be halted by insecurity. Government must protect both students and the continuity of learning, not one at the expense of the other.

We remain committed to voicing our truth at Youth For Better Yobe

Yobe: The Heartbeat of Resilience, Culture, and Innovation

Yobe State is not just a place; it is a story—a testament to resilience, culture, and unwavering determination. Nestled in the northeastern part of Nigeria, our land is home to a people whose spirits are unbreakable, whose traditions are rich, and whose contributions to the nation are immeasurable.

From the ancient corridors of our traditional institutions to the modern strides we take in science, technology, and agriculture, Yobe stands as a beacon of excellence.

Our people are known for their warm hospitality, a trait deeply rooted in our heritage. Whether you step into a Kanuri household, a Fulani settlement, or the diverse communities that make up our demography, one thing remains constant—our open arms and generous hearts.

A Land of Tradition and Strength
Our traditional institutions remain a strong pillar of governance and identity.

The Emirate councils, custodians of our history, guide us with wisdom, ensuring that our values are preserved while we embrace progress.

These institutions have shaped leaders, warriors, and scholars who have contributed immensely to Nigeria’s growth.

One of our hidden wonders is the mysterious Snake Town of Machina, a place shrouded in intrigue and history, reminding us that Yobe is not just rich in people but in mystique and heritage.

Feeding the Nation Through Agriculture
We are a people of perseverance, and this is reflected in our role as one of Nigeria’s agricultural strongholds.

Our farmers work tirelessly, producing food that feeds millions. Yobe’s fishing communities sustain local and national markets, while our livestock industry is unmatched. Potiskum, home to Africa’s largest livestock market, is a bustling hub where traders from across West Africa converge, proving that our economic significance extends beyond our borders.

The Intellect of Yobe: Breaking Barriers in Science and Technology

Yobe has always been a cradle of intellect. We produced Adamu Chiroma, the first Central Bank Governor from Northern Nigeria, a man whose leadership shaped the country’s financial direction. Today, our young minds continue to make history, especially in science and technology. We celebrate those rewriting global narratives—like the son of Yobe who pioneered a groundbreaking approach to problem-solving in Chemistry.

Our youth are defying limits in computing, medicine, and engineering. Year after year, Yobe sons and daughters set academic records in universities nationwide, proving that brilliance knows no boundaries.

The Youth For Better Yobe: Shaping the Future
We are a generation that refuses to be defined by challenges. We, the Youth For Better Yobe, are determined to showcase our state’s true identity. We will tell our own stories, celebrate our victories, and ensure that the world sees Yobe for what it truly is—a land of strength, wisdom, and unyielding progress.

This is Yobe. This is our pride. And no odds will stop us from shining.

It is pertinent to congratulate another youth, who also doubled as the son of Yobe State for breaking the ceiling and emerging as the Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) as you clinch on that very important seat, we at Youth For Better Yobe wish to reinstate our commitment to Youth development and therefore pray persistently for your success.

Congratulations Usman Adamu Nagwaza

Dear Saidu Abdulrahaman we wish to express our unalloyed happiness as the Guinness World Records officially recognized you for most headshot photographs taken in one hour.

This achievement further consolidates your passion for this exceptionally creative profession.

At Youth For Better Yobe, nothing brings us so much joy as witnessing our state being projected in a positive spectrum on global stage, particularly having had our fair share of bad reputation bothering terrorism precipitated by Boko Haram insurgency in recent times.

This is a big win for all of us.

Congratulations🎉 once again.

We once again wish to congratulate our Governor, Hon. Hon Mai Mala Buni for being Unanimously Endorsed as Chairman Lake Chad Basin Governors' Forum.

This development reinstates Yobe’s role as a regional giant.

We wish our Governor the best of luck during his two-year tenure.

This is a big win and a cause for celebration for every citizen of Yobe State, regardless of political affiliation.
