GOV. BUNI APPROVES EX*****ON OF 94 NEDC PROJECTS IN YOBE
The Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni has granted approval to NEDC for the ex*****on of 94 water and education sector projects across 17 LGA's of the State including:
1. Drilling and Installation of 34 Hybrid Solar Boreholes
2. Repair/Conversion of 27 Boreholes to Solar Hybrid
3. Construction/Renovation of 33 Classrooms, Offices, Stores and Supply of Furniture
It is interesting to note that Yobe is the FIRST STATE in the North-East region to have secured the NEDC's board's approval and starts implementing its Rapid Response Intervention (RRI) projects.
On this note, Yobe State NEDC specially appreciates His Excellency Gov. Mai Mala Buni for attracting these developmental projects through the highest level of engagements with the Commission.
On behalf of the government and good people of the State, Yobe NEDC also appreciates the MD/CEO of the Commission and his team for their efforts in ensuring the actualisation of the Governor Buni NEDC RRI projects, the first of its kind.
Glad to note that the implementation of the approved Buni NEDC RRI projects commences immediately.

Yobe State Islamiyya Schools Association paid courtesy visit to Yobe NEDC
The state chairman Muhammad Usman Al-Mudir and members of the State Executive Council of the Yobe State Islamiyya Schools Association paid a courtesy and thank you visit to Yobe SFP/Coordinator NEDC Dr Ali Ibrahim Abbas in his office.
The visit was to appreciate the Yobe State Government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni for involving the association in its series and phases of education reforms since His Excellency's declaration of state of emergency in the sector.
The chairman said "first, it was a special invitation from the Yobe Education Summit to attend the program at the Government House which was never done before. We thank you Dr for the role you played."
Second, we participated and made our presentations in the series of syndicate groups in the summit thereby advancing our cause. And third, Dr Idriss, a renown Islamic Scholar is now appointed by His Excellency as the Hon. Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education.
"Again, Dr you were also appointed by His Excellency to lead the NEDC in the State which also has mandate on all our Islamiyya and education sector generally" said the Chairman.
The chairman concluded "Honestly, with all the efforts made so far and the people appointed to drive the process, we feel like all these education reforms and State of emergency are all about the Islamiyya and Tsangaya schools because we have always being involved in the issues.
The SFP/Coordinator Dr Ali Ibrahim Abbas thanked the association for the visit and appreciate the confidence they have on His Excellency's administration and his declaration of state of emergency on the basic and secondary education after his assumption of office.
Dr Abbas also promised to continue to carry along the associations and stakeholders in areas of relevance as they remain strategic partners in peace building, humanitarian and development efforts in Yobe State and beyond.

NORTH EAST DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (NEDC)
Following the officials visit by the NEDC officials to commensurate with Gashua Potash Marketers about the fire out break incident occurred last week at Zangon Kanwa Gashua yobe State.
The committee under the leadership of Alhaji Muhammad Jawa Director Admn and Finance, Yobe State focal person NEDC Dr Ali Ibrahim Abbas FCIA, MIPSA. And others has Donated 200 bags of Rice, 200 cartons of spaghetti, 100 jarakan of cooking oil, 100 cartons of Maggi and 100 carton of tomato.
The committee take data of the damages cause by the fire and assured the victims that something big will still follows in sha Allah.

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) office of the focal person Yobe State, is set to intervene in rebuilding structures destroyed by the insurgents across the state. The State Coordinator, Dr Ali Ibrahim Abbas, disclosed this in Damaturu, during his assumption of office as the pioneer Focal Person/ State Coordinator. Abbas said it was the responsibility of NEDC to intervene on the damages done on social infrastructure such as schools, markets, houses, shops, palaces and office buildings destroyed by the insurgents.
He said apart from rebuilding, resettlements and rehabilitation of people and communities, the commission has intensified effort into looking at the immediate causes of these crisis. He said that issues such as illiteracy, poverty and unemployment are still lingering and if not properly addressed have the potential to ignite another crisis. He said one of the core mandates of his office was to ensure adequate security, adding that he would interface with the military, other securities outfits and the civilian population to achieve that. “You recall whenever there was security or military operation we have backlash most of the time on the civilian population and sometimes the security agents do complain that people do not give them the maximum support they require from the communities” he said.
He said provision of quality education, effective health care delivery and agriculture are the key indicators that will shape the main agenda of the commission. He said already the commission has keyed into data collection of all the next-of-kin of persons who lost their lives due to the activities of the insurgents. He urged his staff to be God fearing in handling such challenging assignment not to get engage in sentiments or corruption.

The Yobe State governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has approved the nomination of Dr Ali Ibrahim Abbas as the Yobe State Focal Person/Coordinator North-East Development Commission(NEDC).
The appointment takes immediate effect.
