Ukwueze Inaugurates Committee to Assess Igbo-Eze South Assets and Liabilities

In a move to promote transparency and accountability, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has constituted an Assets Valuation and Documentation Committee. The committee's mandate is to assess the council’s assets, liabilities, and recoverable properties, providing a comprehensive report within two weeks.

In a statement issued by the chairman, the committee members were charged with evaluating the state and value of the council’s assets, including stocks, buildings, lands, vehicles, equipment, and revenue-generating points. This effort aligns with the administration’s “Progress Agenda” campaign mantra, emphasizing good governance through transparency.

The committee, led by Sir Bona C. Ugwuja (HND, MBA, MPhil, ANIM, ACITN, FCA, Ph.D.) as Chairman, comprises a diverse team of experts:

The chairman noted that understanding the council’s resources is essential for the administration to begin its stewardship on solid footing. "This initiative demonstrates our unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability in governance," Ukwueze remarked.

He also highlighted the vital role local governments play in rural development and expressed confidence that the committee members would bring their wealth of experience to bear in fulfilling this mandate.

The committee is expected to submit its report within two weeks from the date of the announcement.

The chairman congratulated the appointees and urged them to see their assignment as a call to serve the people of Igbo-Eze South LGA.

Enugu PDP Chairman Hands Over Flags as Ukwueze Leads Campaign Across Nkalagu Obukpa, Amebo, and Ezema Wards

In a significant and highly symbolic event on September 13, 2024, the Enugu State PDP Chairman, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike, accompanied by his team, officially handed over flags to Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, the PDP Chairmanship flag-bearer for Igbo-Eze South LGA, and to all the Councilorship candidates representing the 16 wards. This formal handover marked a pivotal moment in the PDP’s campaign efforts ahead of the September 21 Local Government Elections, pointing out the party’s unity and determination to secure victory across all wards in the LGA.

The ceremony took place during the PDP’s ongoing ward-to-ward campaign tour, which continued with visits to Nkalagu Obukpa, Amebo, and Ezema wards. Each visit saw overwhelming support from the local electorates, who turned out in large numbers to witness the flag presentation and demonstrate their loyalty to the party.

Speaking at the event, the Enugu State PDP Chairman, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike, praised the resilience and unity of the party in Igbo-Eze South LGA. He emphasized that the handing over of the flags was not just a formality but a representation of the PDP’s commitment to continuing its legacy of good governance and progress in the state. He commended Governor Peter Nsubuisi Mbah for his exemplary leadership, which has garnered widespread admiration throughout Enugu State.

"We are not just handing over these flags today; we are handing over the hopes and aspirations of the people of Igbo-Eze South. With the caliber of candidates we are presenting, including Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, I have no doubt that the PDP will continue to lead this local government into greater heights. We are poised to secure victory because the people have seen what the PDP can deliver; development, peace, and progress," Chukwunweike said, receiving a standing ovation from the audience.

Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, the PDP Chairmanship flag-bearer for Igbo-Eze South, also addressed the crowd, expressing deep gratitude for the trust the party has placed in him and his running mate, Lolo Princess Chinwendu Ogbonna. He outlined his vision for Igbo-Eze South LGA, promising a progressive administration focused on sustainable development, infrastructural improvements, and empowerment of the youth.

"Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Igbo-Eze South. We stand here with one mission: to ensure that every resident, from the youngest to the oldest, feels the impact of a progressive government. We will bring development that touches lives, focusing on roads, schools, health care, and creating opportunities for our youth. With your support, we will build on the strong foundation laid by our great party under the leadership of Governor Mbah," Ukwueze declared, igniting cheers from the crowd.

Nkalagu Obukpa Ward: The first visit of the day was Nkalagu Obukpa, where the PDP team was welcomed by a massive crowd, eager to pledge their support for Barr. Ukwueze and the party’s "Progress Agenda." The residents expressed their deep trust in the PDP, citing Governor Mbah’s transformative governance as a major reason for their loyalty. They assured the flag-bearer of their support, vowing to deliver a decisive victory for the party on September 21.

Amebo Ward: The campaign train then moved to Amebo Ward, where the enthusiasm reached new heights. Residents filled the campaign grounds, displaying PDP banners and chanting “Progress Agenda” and “United Amebo 4 P-Square” slogans in favour of the party. Community leaders from Hausa and Yoruba quarters and other stakeholders respectively spoke passionately about the party’s positive impact on the state, particularly the infrastructural developments initiated by Governor Mbah; construction of Smart Schools and Primary Health Centres. They assured Barr. Ukwueze and his running mate of a 100% win in Amebo Ward, promising that the ward would deliver a resounding victory for the PDP.

Ezema Ward: The final stop of the day was in Ezema Ward, where the excitement was palpable. The turnout was massive, with residents filling the streets in anticipation of the PDP campaign team’s arrival. Barr. Ukwueze addressed the crowd, outlining his vision for sustainable development, youth empowerment, and infrastructural improvements in Igbo-Eze South. The residents responded with thunderous applause and renewed their commitment to ensuring the PDP’s success at the polls.

The flag handover by the Enugu State PDP Chairman further energized the campaign, signaling the party’s readiness and confidence in winning the upcoming elections. With each ward visited, the momentum behind the PDP campaign continues to build, with widespread support evident across all communities.

As the countdown to the elections continues, the PDP is poised for a sweeping victory in Igbo-Eze South, driven by the people’s trust in Barr. Ukwueze’s leadership and their admiration for Governor Mbah’s achievements so far. The unity and determination showcased set the stage for what promises to be a landslide win for the PDP on September 21, 2024.

Our Mission, Vision and Strategies are anchored on;

Transparency, Components-engagements and Accountability (TCA). The TCA will drive our first 100 days in office.

We have set up mechanism to guage our first 100 days in office as follows:

Baseline Data:
We shall gather and collate relevant baseline data for the local government. This will include economic demography such as the number of Nano, Micro Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (NMSMEs), hospital beds, access to water and electricity, primary school enrolment and similar data of Igbo-Eze South LGA.

Components-engagements:
We shall engage key components or groups in the LGA, such as traders, business persons, artisans, youths, professionals/vocational persons, widows/widowers, community leaders, farmers and teachers on the challenges of growth and development to produce an implementable Fully Integrated Development Plan for the LGA.

Training and Capacity Building:
Our progress would be limited or enabled by the capacity of the LGA personnel. Assessment of training needs of the LGA personnel will be carried, and appropriate trainings identified and deployed. Productivity of LGA personnel will be part of the Table League such as IGR per LGA staff, etc.

Transparency and Accountability:
Baseline data and Table League will be the instrument of establishing transparency and accountability in our beloved LGA, through which we shall push our frontiers to be the number one in good governance in Enugu State. We will publish the data showing our starting line and journey in a publicly accessible form.

S - Sustaining our Environment for Prosperity

Our local government's well-being is tied to a thriving environment. Through proper waste disposals, intentional tree planting, and campaigns against open defecations, we will cultivate eco-consciousness.

To place our local government area on a global map in tourism industry, making it a more desirable destination, we will also have to revitalize our tourism potentials at sites such as: Aak Cave at Nkalagu Obukpa, Adada Mystical Lake and Abilene Hill at Ibagwa.

We will package and market our Cultural Festivals to the world.

S - Strengthening Sports Excellence

Sports transcend recreation; they unite and foster growth. Focusing on sports development, particularly football, we will inspire competitions, unearth talent, and cultivate local government ambassadors in the sports arena.

By nurturing sports excellence, we will harness its potential for self-actualization, income generation, crime reduction, and community cohesion.

E - Enhancing Agriculture for Food Security

We have vast arable lands in Udeze and South Central Development Centres of Igbo-Eze South Local Government. We are committed to putting infrastructures in place to enable easy access to these fertile lands for agricultural exploitations. We will introduce a new program called Operation Food for All (OFFA) to drive sustainable farming, agricultural education, and market access. To effectively actualize this noble programme, we intend to collaborate with the state government to leverage on the gains of the proposed Specialized Agro-Allied Industrial Zones (SAPZs) for Enugu North Senatorial Zone to facilitate access to high-yielding seed, fertilizer, machinery processing and other logistics equipment for our farmers and other players in Agro-allied businesses in Igbo-Eze South. We will strengthen farmers' cooperative societies for optimal performance. Our aim is accessible land for commercial farming and modern techniques, and to turn our region into an agricultural hub for food security.

We will prepare our farmers to key into the One-State-One-Export product of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC); crude oil palm production and processing, and honey production and processing are easy exportable agro-products areas we will focus on and explore immensely.
